The Most Expensive Chinese ADV? Rainy Test Ride 2024 CFMOTO 800MT Explore (IBEX 800MT)
Ever since I got into adventure riding, the CFMOTO 800MT has been high on my wishlist. I’ve spent a lot of time on the marketplace, trying to find a slightly used one to ride and review long-term, but they seem pretty hard to come by. These bikes are incredibly popular, with owners holding onto them longer than other brands like BMW or KTM. And now, with CFMOTO bringing out the more off-road-focused 800MTX next year, my anticipation has only grown. I finally had the chance to ride the 2024 MT800 Explore, the flagship model, on a rainy day at a CFMOTO open event. How did it handle let’s find out.

The road I am riding on is called Old Bells Line of Road, it started from the Zig Zag Railway and it’s a starting point for a lot of interesting place to explore, place like Newnes Plateau, Garden of Stones, which I never even heard before. There are a lot of cool lookout and point of interest that I want to explore today. The plan is to check out the famous Powerline Track, which I already saw...

I Crushed My DR 650 -- While stayed on the bike?
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.2 месяца назад
I've been working on this DR in the garage for weeks, and now the adventure build is almost complete. I've been itching to take it out for a proper test ride, because this is my first carbureted motorcycle, this is my very first dual sport, and it has the highest mileage of any bike I've ever owned. So, my expectations were through the roof. I was both excited and nervous about how it would per...
Why did I buy a DR650 for my Adventure Bike?
Просмотров 8 тыс.2 месяца назад
I’ve recently purchased this 2009 DR650 with 56,000 kilometers on the clock. Honestly, buying any used motorcycle is a risky decision, but buying a 15-year-old, heavily modified bike with no service history and high mileage is even riskier. To make matters worse, the battery was completed flat during the inspection, and it could only be jump-started, I can’t even do the test ride. Despite all t...
I test rode them all, but ended up buying this one. WHY? -- Entry-Level ADV motorcycles Comparison

Over the past few months, I’ve been on the hunt for my next adventure motorcycle as my interest in moto camping and off-road riding continues to grow. I’ve ride many bikes on dirt road, some of them should never be taken off pavement in the first place. As a novice adventure rider, I was particularly drawn to the new entry-level ADV bikes available on the market, and I test rode quite a few of ...

This is a great bike for touring. But I wouldn’t take it on dirt roads and trails due to weight
I didn't know that you Aussies have such boring flat roads' regards ruclips.net/video/uXfgekSrd9E/видео.htmlsi=6EwWhCVfS4wven-7
Iam thinking ...change my VStrom 650 2013 for CF Moto or DR 650 .....because VStrom is to low , its excelent bike I love it but I need something more offroad
Both of them are great option -- depending on your budget, if you have the cash I would say go with CFMOTO.
CFMOTO MTX prices have been announced here in Europe and the bike is cheaper than the Explore version (10990€ for the Explore and 9900€ for the MTX) I don't know why they are pricing it higher in Australia.
On their CN website, the MT-X is also cheaper. Perhaps demand in AU is strong, or they simply got the fact wrong.
My left ear enjoyed this video. also wipe ur lens often!!
Yeah, the wind and rain really give it a work out.
Umm, sorry but 50.000km is nothing for a Japanese bike...
Till manufacturers decide not to adhere ALL of their 300 to 500cc bikes to A2 regulations, we will never get a proper middleweight bike again.
Right...? I picked up a clean low mile '97 DR350SE and am supersized at how capable it is..nimble, decent seat height, air cooled, 30hp, 6spd-cruise at 70..love it!
@AzPauly Amongst other bikes, i ride a KLX 250S 2009. Almost 160Km/h top speed in inclination, it can cruise at 130Km/h at the straights. Did 7000km this summer, all full throttle, zero oil burned. Bike is 118kg dry, turns by thinking only and can pull an endo with 100km/h, excellent suspension for what it is. I used to make fun of it due to being low hp but i had serious fun driving in fast in B and C roads. Imagine i am faster with the KLX than with the CB 500X, at the same twisty roads. Light and nimble is king.
Fit a modern minimal rally tower on it, either rigid or clamped on the forks. Maybe a modern front fender as well. It will look great.
Great video. and great use of camera views, and the sound was really good, keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
What about the vibrations? Aren't they uncomfortable for long rides?
Yep. Becoming quite unbearable when you reach 100km/h. I change the gearing to 16/45 and it helped a bit.
A DR 650 with less than 50k on the odometer it's brand new, most owners loves this bikes and take good care of their bike because they are easy to fix and there is a pletora of mods out there making this bike the best motorcycle of the planet.
Looks like a nice spot, gotta love the simplicity of it.
Thanks for sharing mate, enjoyed the video & if i read that right, farewell to the DR. Someone will snap it up.
Thanks, mate! I'm sure she'll find a good home.
I have my dr650 for sale in Brisbane for 6months now with little or no interest, lots of mods on it, 23k kms
I guess price is the deciding factor nowadays... anything that is above 7K then people might jump into the new CFMOTO 450 or Himalayan 450
This bike is bomb proof. Easy to work on and so reliable. Basic maintenance will keep it going for many many years. If you do one thing regular only . . Always change your oil.
Nice job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love my dr as well owned 10 bikesprior thischecks all boxes
I did that exact full loop you had planned but cut short. A tip when you Bridle Track, start from Bathurst end not Hill End because the descent at start from Hill End is challenging, and much easier tackling as a climb. Interested to find out your next lightweight bike
Thanks for the tip! I've done the Bathurst to Hill end on my Street Bike Svartplien 401 and it was effortless, this time I was planing a bit chanllenging route.
Thanks for the great video mate. Looking forward to the next one, you have me intrigued.
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed the video.
I think you have made a very good video with sound advice. I am testing a CF Moto 450 MT whis week but as you say the market has bottomed out here in Australia and a good DR650 with a lot of accessories can be had for a very, very reasonable price. The DR is a proven machine and although not new by any means they can do most things, I am leaning toward a used DR.
Congradulations, great choice, i think you will enjoy it for many years. The community is fantastic, which is always a good thing.
Thanks, Dino! I appreciate the comment. I probably didn’t get a chance to mention it before, but I learned quite a few tricks from your videos when working on my DR.
I really love your videos. This is what I want to do with a Suzuki DR650 one day. Keep up the content! I subscribed. I've never rode or owned a motorcycle before.
Awesome! I'm sure you'll have a unforgetable camping trip with the DR someday.
Good stuff mate 👍
Thanks mate!
Nice and relaxing, what camping should be.
Thank you !

you still got the original inline fuel filter on the bike? (it sits inside one of the fuel lines) that things tiny and gets clogged easily. Most dr650 riders (myself included) remove that original fuel filter and fit a proper one. Its too late to check for a blocked jet if its unblocked itself I guess. PS nice video I subscribed :)
Cheers! I changed to a heavy duty fuel line so it shouldn't be the fuel line. We will see how it go I guess :)
@@MademotoADV hey mate i tried replying but it didnt work probably because i put a http link into the reply that directs you to a photo of the filter. Changing out the fuel lines wont remove the filter - its a small sock type filter that sits inside the metal part of the fuel line on the carberetter side. If you pull off your rubber fuel line where it meets the carberetter - and see a tiny bit of white plastic on the metal tube there thats the filter everybody pulls out. You will need somthing sharp to remove it like a flatblade screwdriver to lever it out. If its still there - pull it off and clean it with petrol and reinstall it until you install a aftermarket fuel filter (get a see through aftermarket filter - that way you can see if its got crud in it)
do a google search for "dr650 stock fuel filter" and then click on images and the first couple images will show you the filter :)
At 1:47 I don't know how tall you are but my knee would not be happy in that triangle ◀
Agree, needs taller seat.
Thank-you for sharing your experience and build - it was very enjoyable to watch and helpful :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Haha, I was going to suggest a carb clean. Do you have a filter between the fuel tank and the carb?
No I don't, just a fuel hose. This might be a good idea.
After ruling out the obvious, i would suggest it's a electrical issue? Check your wiring harnesses, and solenoid , if this model has one. Likely to bail you up again, if you don't fix the issue.
Thanks! I am hestiage to ride it again before I found the issue.
A grassy vacant lot is NOT off-road😝
Great job on a budget bike. Knowing the DR it’ll still be going strong in another 50,000 K’s if you look after it. Well done!!
That's the plan!
blocked jet
Sounds like there is dirt in either the Carburettor, filters or fuel lines
It's now back to normal -- I recon the fuel lines was blocked and now it is flowing ok
How bizarre was that, I wonder what it could have been? With those symptoms I would have thought dirty fuel, but you said you emptied out and put in fresh fuel
Very Strange! I posted on the group page and got suggustion to check basicly the entire bike...
Congratulation! Excellent choice..
Hey mate, I've also just rebuilt a 67000 km DR650 and live in Sydney too. Would be keen to go for a ride some time. Cheers
Sounds great! And good luck with the rebuild.
nice build man
Great beer of choice ❤ loved the video 👌
Thanks! Love craft beer on a camp night.
I think CFMoto has an update for the fueling. Great video, thanks....
Thanks!
going to purchase a 1990 DR650 this weekend can't wait to get it!
Nice!! Hope you enjoy it.
Nice DR650
Thanks ✌️
I'm in the US and while they haven't even arrived yet, all the allocation for the CFMoto 450MT has already been claimed. So I bought a 390 Adventure and I'm having a lot of fun with it.
I can't believe you pack all that on a small bike, I take half that gear due to what space I really have on my himalayan and also bring a dog- A Jack Russell, if I didn't bring him, I could bring more gear, but he is my Assistance dog, so has to come with me. I have Mosko mounts on my Malle pannier bags on the rear, and just Malle 6 ltre bags tied on up front. Have subbed
I recon your dog is one of the most import thing you can bring to the trip! don't give up on him 😀
'Gearing Commander' shows 15/44 to be best for chain/sprocket life because same chain link/same sprocket tooth meets less.
I've just changed a new chain with sprocket swap to 16/44 now. Helps with the long highway trips.
One of the best 😊
Cheers!
جميل
I did the same exact thing tried a lot of different bikes before I bought a DR 650. Great all around dual sport and adventure motorcycle 👍
Right on!
Nice work. A worthy deal! The DR650 is the GOAT
It sure is!
I can tell you’re very new to moto camping, give it a few years and that setup will be half the weight. Camp to ride not ride to camp
