      Allograft repairs allow you to focus on healing the site of injury. Whereas autograft means you have to rehab both the donor site AND repair site. I had allograft repair. Best to chat with your surgeon ok which is best for you?

    I'm 10 days post radical prostatectomy & suffering from leakage after the catheter was removed 3 days ago. I realise it's early but i want to recover as quickly as possible. I've got pickle ball to play!! I've been doing pelvic floor exercises & going for little walks. I notice some people are also cycling. I have a spin bike i can use just as long as it doesn't set me back? Thanks for the video.

    • @AlineaPerformance
      @AlineaPerformance 4 дня назад

      We recommend guys stay away from cycling until they have better control as the added upward pressure tends to irritate the pelvic floor. But ultimately, yes you should get back to cycling.

      Yes I did. I had a couple instances just like that and a couple points where it was really bothersome. But now I’m doing great and don’t find much of a limitation. Most of it’s just in my head really.

    I had surgery at 60 and was very sexually active before surgery. After the first 5 months I thought I was never going to get an erection again. Magically between months 5 - 8 things started progressing quickly. Daily masturbation and viagra once a week was the cure for me. I am so close to being back to pre surgery size.

    5 months after surgery and still heavy leakage. When going out and to work, i use the pullups plus pads and now the penile clamp altogether. Doing kegels 4-6 times a day. Plus physical therapy. My urologist says expect a year or more of leakage. I have been walking regularly when not working because I assumed walking is better for building up the pelvic floor than cycling. I've had to give up so much, I really don't want to give up my 2 cups of coffee in the mornings. It's only water the rest of the day.

    • @AlineaPerformance
      @AlineaPerformance 3 месяца назад

      Sorry to hear you’re still struggling with leakage after 5 months. It sounds like you’re doing a good amount of kegels throughout the day to increase your pelvic floor muscles. And yes walking is better than cycling for improving pelvic floor tone. You don’t need to give up coffee. It’s really amount recognizing it’s a bladder irritant and that it will urge you to urinate more frequent.

      Hey man. Going into surgery in a couple days. Let me just say. Your videos are very helpful. Lifting is not even a concern for me. That will come in time. I would like to get back to walking on the treadmill with a slight incline as soon as possible. With maybe a sauna sesh thrown in there. I feel like that would keep me from going insane. Is it safe to say 2-3 week post-op is a realistic timeline for those two things

    • @AlineaPerformance
      @AlineaPerformance 2 месяца назад

      @@phillegotte8005 I generally prefer people walk outside and stay away from treadmills just so they don't accidentally trip and reach their arm out. As far as a sauna, you will wanna stay away until the incision is fully healed. Saunas a breeding grounds for bacteria and you don't want to risk an infection. But as soon as it's closed, you shouldn't have an issue. I would bring this up with your surgeon as well.

    These 'experts' appear to have all the answers, so tell me what I can do, EXPERTS! July 2020 I had radical prostatectomy surgery. Normally this takes between two and two half hours, correct me if I'm wrong, please. Mine was FIVE HOURS or thereabouts. Why you ask. Well it's like this.The surgeon "SPLIT my large bowell in the process" . Great job yeah!! NO! This required a SECOND surgeons presence to 'fix' the first error and I finished up with a "STOMA" with all the associated requirements for a period of FOUR months. That was reversed, successfully I might add. Since then I've not had ANY normalcy at all, none, nothing. Tablets do not work (tried them all), nothing. So all you so-called experts what can I do?????.

    • @AlineaPerformance
      @AlineaPerformance 4 месяца назад

      Hey there and sorry to hear about your experience. As for getting an erection post surgery there are a couple housekeeping things to note first. 1. Was it nerve sparing? If no, then will need external support; however most surgeries today are nerve sparing. 2. If nerve sparing then next stepping stone is COMPLETE continence. This means during activities, bending over, coughing, etc 3. If the first two are satisfied then time is a huge factor for nerve healing. Generally nerves take a year and up to 2. Weeks see most results around 6 months post. 4. Blood flow is the name of the game when it comes to erections. At first you can force it with a pump until they occur naturally. Other treatments such as shockwave are great for improving blood flow as well and how we’ve seen best results. Ultimately it’s a process. And most men have to go in order of above. So see which step you’re at and continue from there. Everyone is different of course but these are the steps we’ve seen best results with.

    I am now 5 years post RP surgery. I lost one nerve and did 100mg of Sildenafil daily for 10 months before I got a useable erection. All up i did that for 18 months daily. Very interesting clip thanks for sharing.

    Great progress! Did you do any supplemental therapies during your post-op PT time period? For example red light therapy or ice baths or supplements like ALA or collagen (e.g: MEND) or peptides like tb500/bpc175? Ive been taking ALA, VitC & DHA + others for a while before my injury, I just doubled the dose of ALA to help reduce inflamation, & I take MEND collagen every other day it seems to help with energy & pain. My PT mentioned that collagen supplements may cause stiffness. Again, thanks for the great detailed content!

    • @AlineaPerformance

      Great question. I haven’t used any supplements other than a multivitamin or protein powder. All collagen supplements haven’t shown to be effective so I didn’t do that and I asked my surgeon about bpc157/ TB-500 as I used in the past. And he recommended I stay away from it for at least 6 months to a year as I had to do a cadaver tendon graft and he said there wasn’t any research on how they would interact together.

      Great question. I’ve used posture correctors in the past but found they kinda irritated my shoulders. As a therapist I never recommend them but I don’t tell people not to use them either.
