Tomioka Silk Mill is Japan's oldest modern model silk reeling factory and a World Heritage Site. It was established in 1872 by the government to introduce modern machine based silk reeling from France and spread its technology in Japan. It was closed permanently in March 1987. The mill contributed actively to the growth of Japan’s economy during and after World War II.

It was a day trip with our friends from various parts of the world to the countryside of Gunma, Japan.
