I've had a very similar experience with my cats -- I used to have one following me around, now I have two (unless my partner is home, in which case the younger cat goes after them lol). And no they don't get along, they just tolerate each other and sometimes cooperate in mischief. This was a lovely and informative video! Thank you!

I think it would be cool if Daniel Stern had a bunch of pet pigeons. Then he could do his own video of Marv (Home Alone) coming to finally realize that pigeons are not scary. And he should do a piece of dialogue that goes like this "Wow, there's nothing frightening about having pigeons on me at all. It's fun. I don't know why I screamed hysterically last time. Of course I don't think Harry enjoyed having pigeons on him as well"

Please bust this : pigeon droppings disease and also i keep my pigeon open in my room,many say feathers can cause disease and droppings...please tell me how to maintain this kind of situation if its true !

I rescued a pigeon. Still had its yellow feathers and had to be hand fed. I’ve had it for 7 months now. His or her name is Omelet. Daughter named him or her. I released it one day thinking it would not come back. It left so quickly. I was sad. Many hours later I find it on the lip of my garage. He or she lets me pick her up only when she wants to be picked up. 😆 Would hang out on my shoulder when I’m working on something outside. Now it’s become a normal routine. I force her to explore the outside world by releasing her around 6a and when I open my garage around 10a she flies right in to drink her water and eat her seeds.

Thanks a lot for such a great video 😀 I live with two wondetful pigeons as well. But my story is a bit different: they're a couple and both of them stay with me sine the beginning. But twice I brought to my appartment two others, a girl and a boy, both have got a neurological disease. While each of them were recovering, when I knew it was safe for all of them, I let them spend a little time together. And yes, I agree with your observations and opinion: pigeons are veeery social creatures, incredibly and deeply "in" relationship with their mates (pigeons or human being, or both 😃), but they're territorial and jelous as well. Toby and Bonnie are so adorable! I fully agree with you. We tend to think on behalf of our animals and think they need company when in fact they are happy just being by themselves and that they have us all to themselves. It’s the sense of guilt in us that when we are not home, they’re lonely. I believe they do, but on the other hand, they would get used to it. Perhaps?

If you have male pigeons, you must get a female for them.

My bird vet told me to feed pelletted food and give seeds as a treat so she wont just pick out her favorites. Foy's online is an excellent source.

I discovered my pigeon is a she. I stroked her back for a few weeks and we were both surprised by EGGS!!! A pigeons bathroom habits change when she is sitting on eggs. Mine stopped going in her cage near her nnd would drop massive runny payloads a few times a day anywhere else. I HATED IT!!!! I even took her to tbe vet over this. $300 USD later and nothing wrong with her, I pulled the fake replacement eggs at 3 weeks. She is back to normal. She will NOT be getting a mate.

Thank you! Great video! I learned a lot. I don't have pigeons, but doves, and I think I will try some of your ideas, such as the peas and seeds from bell peppers. My doves eat a regular budgie seed mix, with extra things like sunflower, hemp, peanuts, and they LOVE diced fresh cucumber. I also give them crushed oyster shells. Weirdly, they love eating the dirt in my houseplants. Another big treat is fresh peas from sugar snap peas. They also enjoy spinach. Rice Krispeas cereal is a huge treat, but I suspect this is not very nutritious, so I don't do it often. My doves are so sweet and such essential parts of my life. Yet I find there is not a lot of detailed information available, so I truly appreciate your videos. You should make more! Jenna P. S. I am very jealous that Toby will snuggle and be petted because my pet ring-necked doves are warm (they will fly to me and sit near me) but they do NOT like to be touched. They are exceedintly "hands-off" pets. Perhaps some day in the future I will get a pet dove, too!

Great video! I was waiting for how to deal with the poop! I am caring for a lost Racing Pigeon, even though it's outside it craps everywhere! I'm always hosing down those turds covering my patio so nobody walks it through the house. At one point she came inside, and promptly pooped on the kitchen floor and it was messy! I was wondering how on earth do you keep your place clean with 2 pigeons? Do they wear diapers?! I've seen a house Cockerel wear a diaper, to me that's even worse to change that. I'd love to know the secret, your pigeons never seem to poop 😁

how do you keep her from flying outside through the big window?

definitely appreciate how informative, these little big complications and decisions, consequences, mechanics. that are so real, and not how you/i thought, but we got to deal with it now the situation turned the way it did. the comments are also useful with their different experiences. a key word/mechanic i just got from another video is to be careful with imprinting. you're first only i guess of course, it imprinted as you're mate and then the competitive unclear relationship with another burb. one "should"have let the birds pair up and relate like that to the owner, But i love the video (s openness/honesty/good faith/whatever, perfect or whatever) the situation is something and we'll figure it out. .. with lots of experience and love (and pain) 'And God looked at his creation and saw that it was good'

У меня корелла так же живет уже много лет, я ее партнерша. В детстве тоже был такой ужасный опыт, когда волнистому попугаю не понравилась подруга и ее пришлось возвращать (это было в 90-е и тогда отношение к животным было в основном каким-то безответственным и примитивным, по крайней мере в РФ). Надеюсь, тоже когда-нибудь смогу завести голубя, очень их люблю.

Sorry if it's already been asked. But what was the whole other set of problems you mentioned if you got a mated pair right off the bat? Just like them having babies and everything? Or do they get aggressive towards the owner because they're a mated couple?
