I’d be curious to see the same test at a high downforce track. Outright speed always wins at Monza & the W11 has way too much drag compared to the F2004 to have any chance of winning that battle.

Appreciate the content, but this is a sh/t comparison. F2004 keeps all of its advantages and the W11 is punished. I’ll give you DRS But taking W11 ERS, ain’t acceptable. It is part of the power unit. Regardless that the ERS was removed for what you call a weight reduction to try and equal it out. Still doesn’t make comparable. All Constructors would’ve built a capable motor if ERS was not part of the power unit to over come the cars specs ie…dimensions, weight and aero.

I agree with taking away DRS (somewhat) but removing ERS is essentially disabling the W11. Yes it saves 40KG, but that's not worth the loss of 160hp as well as all that extra torque you get from the ERS. I don’t get why you're trying to "balance" the cars, rather than comparing the actual cars without disabling one of them.

All that downforce is killing the top speed. That’s why DRS was introduced.

Look an F1 car will be faster than most things in a race shorter than 2 hrs, but Sportscars are made for endurance races....... If it was viable to use Formula style cars to do a 24h race then it would have been done so years ago......... I think it would just be too expensive and unreliable to run an Formula car for longer than designated length GP races
