The new NARS eyeshadow palette is not good guys
I know I'm biased against copper and its warm-toned brethren but this palette is not it guys. It sold itself as a purple/pink palette than leaned cool but that product imagery is misleading! Some of it is just the nature of how the pigments photograph, I get that. If a pigment has a cool reflect to it, under studio lights you will pick up the tones of the reflect more than the base pigment. But if you look at the product photography you can tell by how desaturated the black edging looks that they tinted it.

LEXIIII it's SO DOPE when you post!!!!
@@alibezz1 ahhhh thanks its a miracle when it happens lol
So nice to see and hear from you again! My daughter just turned three and I am still rebuilding my wardrobe as a Changed Woman. 😅 Can really relate to a lot of what you said. I loved more figure hugging silhouettes before my daughter was born but now I can’t stand the feeling of them. It’s like they just add to the overall feeling of overstimulation that can plague you in early parenthood. Anyway, look forward to seeing your videos in my feed again. Cheers! 🍻
@@coolcatchiara yes that’s exactly right! It’s an overstimulation thing I think.
Welcome back Lexi! I 🖤🤎 your hair, so cute & edgy 😍 Looking forward to what you'll get out of using the app. Doing a no buy month is a really good habit, it changed my shopping behaviour. For a while....🤐
So glad you’re back!
thank you for coming back too!
Super stoked to see more from you this year <3
Happy to see you! I have about 20 items on Indyx and intend to finish cataloging my wardrobe after I do a good cleanout.
It’s so addictive once you get started!
Welcome Back! Motherhood changes us on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. We are reborn. Looking forward to whatever you wanna talk about. xo ETA: Love your hair and the whole 70s Suzi Quatro vibe you got going today.
Thank you! I’ve been having fun with my hair, though my coworkers have started calling me cruella haha

This has to be one of the nicest perms I’ve ever seen. Your stylist is amazing. Everyone always rushes through my perms and they end up horrible. They either take sections of hair that are way too big, won’t use enough solution, won’t wash the solution long enough or won’t blot my curls enough after rinsing The first solution! I always get nervous and want to tell them what they’re doing wrong but feel bad and don’t. It’s ridiculous that I feel I have to tell a hair stylist how to do their job. Just follow the dang instructions!! lol. I really don’t get it. This lady is the BOMB. She did everything by the book and it turned out phenomenal!!!
thank you for this video, it explained so much about my own tastes as well.
I'm glad it helped!
OMG SHE IS STUNNING
omg the black pants r so nice on you
You have a figure 8 body type just like me! It’s a variation of the hourglass with a lot more round shapes
I feel so seen right now thank God I found you god bless you
THANK YOU! I was born 1990 and my mentally ill mother would beat and insult me in the shopping mals for my "fat" legs and hips! I was very thin back then! And still am! I am actually so attractive that I modelled with 24. People were either REALLY ignorant and primitive back then to not realize that women have all different skeleton shapes and flesh or my mother is a really sadistic piece of shit. Oh, sorry, she is both. The self hate and insecurities are the only things they could inherit their daughters.
SO helpful, I appreciate this so much. I felt so terrible at makeup because I couldn't get smooth blends on demand until I got a Smashbox big set with compact in the late late 90s or early 2000s that was somehow tuned exactly for my unique colouration. Hearing you mention how you blended the heck out of the 'neutral' eye shades despite it not looking like it helped me start to see a little more that it's not that I'm intrinsically bad at makeup just because I found it hard to get the hang of working with my olive tones. I thought for sure the Wet n Wild neutrals palette would work like a charm, but as you mentioned a number of the like twelve shades pull very orange on me and look like I'm wearing someone else's makeup.
When you doing another perm video
Your face is similar to Sofia Vergara.
Please Im little confused, what is the name and brand of the last palette that you are using in the video? Please help tk u
It's by the brand Peripera. It's their "All Take Mood" palette, they have a bunch of different color combinations and this one is called "Muteful Rose"
@@LexiLadonna Thank you so much for your answer. tk you. I am a warm and cold (neutral) Olive and new to makeup and on my mid 50s so figure I am scratching my head. Love your video!!
When is your next perm video
Just stubble upon your video, and this is true. I have two palette and they are freaking yellowish or orange
I’m glad you said about gathered fabric laying in a way that’s not very flattering for us. I always want a peasant style top and they always look terrible on me. I have high, wide hips and a small bust so I don’t fill most tops out very well.
Bangs are so cutee on you
This is me, my solution was the opposite I hide everything from my torso, make it kinda boxy and just show my legs and upper body 😅
This was the single most helpful makeup video I've ever watched. Thank you for making this.
I just watched ur perm video.. hair looks great here too
This is amazing. So informative with visuals and logic behind the video. This is fantastic ❤
Girl, I literally love you for making this video your beautiful and you’ve made me feel beautiful, I’ve been struggling recently but this is spot on and I feel so much better about my body so thank you🥲😘😍
Best video! No one ever talks about hip dips, my hip is really high up and its really damaging my mental health, but im trying to figure it out.
love your hair, thanks for posting. I'm sorry you got lots of all warm tones
well done! Thanks so much
Oh my goodness. I have struggled with finding my “body type” and clothes that look flattering my whole life. This has helped me so so much
This was crazy helpful - such a smart concept to do 1 eye at a time 👏
thank you! I'm glad it helped :)
Hendricks also hikes up her bust which can help a lot. I feel like most women with high hips have a larger bust than average, (most clothes are designed for a B cup despite the average being a C cup for the past 30-40 years) and wearing a bra that lifts even 1 inch more than usual gives a longer waist line. I ended up learning to sew because clothing manufacturers seem to want to ignore us completely. It’s surprising how many styles I “couldn’t wear” actually looked good once I learned how to change patterns to fit my body. Standard clothing sets the hip line around 8-9 inches below the waist and that doesn’t work when your wides point is 3” below. 😁. I also like being able to control the crotch depth so my pants sit at my waist without giving me a wedgie or high water hemlines! Thank you for a great video!
Best video on this topic!! Thanks!
Love it!
What shampoo/conditioner products do you use after the perm? What type rods did they use on your second perm? I’m asking because I think your hair turned out super cute! I live in King County and you’re right a lot of places don’t do perms like they did in the 80’s I remember seeing signs on about every salon; perms starting at $19.99. I remember my step mom getting them and she had thin hair mid back length and she’d pay $30.00 back then so I imagine my hair will be expensive as it is really thick not quite to my waist. I may get cut as watching your previous video scared me about the weight of the rods and your neck hurting - I have a bad neck w/ hairline fracture from 30 years ago now I have arthritis there. I have a thin long neck and alway hard to lay my head back in those wash bins at the salon….
I know this is from a couple years ago; I have an appointment in 2 days for a spiral perm… for some reason I thought they did long foam rods. The rods they used on you are the ones I remember my step mom getting in the 80’s and I remember the stinky smell. But I was told they’ve come out with better products for your hair that don’t stink. I am nervous now as my hair is longer thicker than yours and I have a bad neck that has a hairline fracture from years ago …have had neck and shoulder problems since. I’m glad you shared this video as I may back out because my hair gets heavy when it’s wet and takes forever to dry.
beautiful
Thank you for the video, I don't see a lot of people talking about this particular shape combination, and the fitting accommodations it needs. I've also come to the conclusion that the reason why so many clothes don't work for me is because of a high-wide hip bone that's sitting very close to the ribcage, and results in having a wide waist, regardless of weight. For years I kept thinking that it was because of weight that I couldn't wear the styles I liked, but I'm finally realizing that it has nothing to do with size, and whether I'm at a normal weight or overweight it doesn't affect the particular fit issues I'm having. The biggest offenders are separates, like skirts and trousers, and the problem is two-fold: 1) the size that fits my hips is too small for my waist, and even if I size up, or even if the waist fits because of, say, an elastic band, the fabric basically juts out at the hipbone, creating an unflattering tent-like effect, 2) the proportions are off, because the narrowest point of my waist is right under my chest and then almost immediately goes from ribcage to hips, even those high waisted trousers that can deal with the long rise and sit without falling off, create a unbalanced proportion of looking like going from boobs->legs (like the example you've shown in the video). It's *really* hard finding separates that work, and I even had the same problem with dresses (especially the jutting out tent shape). The styles that I've found work the best are: dresses with an empire waist (because they are narrower right beneath the chest and then flare out from there), and certain high waist trousers with an elastic panel at the belly area (because I can get away with my usualy size and not having to size up and then tailor). A lot of clothes can give us a rectangular and wider shape, and finding things that work is A Process...
Where is the grey-beige single pan shadow from?
So you're probably a Dark Winter ❄ Dark winters look good with silver and gold. Both metals should be neither too warm nor too cool, as you have more of a neutral undertone. Lily Collins has a fair skin and an olive undertone and was classified by most as Dark Winter - in case you need a style or makeup role model ...
I think you're right!
One word: mauve (Okay, a few more 😅: a cool mauve is one of the most flattering colours for people with an olive skin (eyeshadow, lipstick etc.) I had a similar experience to you. Of all things, a light, delicate pink is my neutral eyeshadow color! It has become completely one with my eyelid. I would never have thought of it if I hadn't just tried out all the colors I have.)
I agree with mauve! but a true mauve. These days I've noticed a lot of brands selling "mauve " mauve items that are quite peachy and warm, and they alter their product photos to make them appear way cooler than they are in real life. My theory is that they are just repackaging all their warmer rosewood shades as mauve to try to get in on the trend without having to actually formulate new items
Does anyone know if there are any brands that are friendly to this shape? It’s like we don’t exist.
Yes! The brand Vixen by Micheline Pitt (and the sister brand La Femme en Noir) makes pants that work for high hips. They are a bit retro in vibe, especially they way they style them on the website. But if you style them in a non-vintage way I think they can work for modern styles. I'm actually working on a video reviewing the brand that should be out in the next couple weeks
@@LexiLadonna Thank you! Do you know if they work even if you don’t have an hourglass shape? I absolutely have high hips, but I also have a lot of stomach and I’ve been scared off of more retro shapes because of my WHR. Super excited for the video! This information has explained so much about why clothes never seem to look right on me.
My body is like Christina Hendricks in corset with small bust
Welcome to the high hips club ;)
you are the first person i've found on RUclips in about 6-7 years of watching beauty content who actually has similar colouring as me. to be honest i didn't think i'd ever find someone with similar colouring as me. i have a few "fair cool" and "fair olive" folks i follow but after trying many of their recommendations and finding their cool tones coming up orange/peach on me, i'd pretty much given up. i've also given up on palettes. i've come to the conclusion that the beauty industry, including reviewers and influencers, don't actually understand what "cool" means. i feel like "cool" has become the "new" (as if cool didn't always exist) buzzword, a trend in makeup spaces that just means "not orange or yellow." anything green, blue, or violet gets thrown in, without the understanding that any and all of those can be warm, and 99.9% of the time they are warm because there seems to be a deep fear of blue- and grey-based makeup. i snorted with laughter when i saw Sigma's "cool neutrals" palette. i don't understand what's going on. additionally, even when there are palettes that have colours i can wear, they make up less than half of the palette, and i can't justify buying an entire palette unless i can wear all of the colours, but that's just me personally. these are the colours i can wear on my face: cheek colour has to be a light, muted, blue-based mauve. this is literally the only blush colour i can wear that does not make me look like rust. on my eyes, light- to light-medium blue- based violets, violet-based pastel blues, and blue-based pastel greens (think more sage or mint, not teal), and greys based on any of these. the only browns i can wear have so much grey and violet in them, they do not swatch brown on most folks. my lips, which appear light at first glance, actually have a deep purple undercurrent, and the only colours that look right on me are muted blue-based plums and mauves, which are extremely hard to find. This is the only area of my face where i actually need a medium-to-dark colour to balance out the undertone of my lips. light lip colours wash me out though i do like a light lip colour with a dark liner. the only palette i've found that is both cool and muted enough for me is rom&nd's Better Than palette in Odd Breeze Garden. strangely, it's a predominantly pink palette, but every single shade in that palette is dusty - dusty as in muted and grey, not as in brown. most of the colours are fairly light which is an added bonus for me. apart from that i've gone the eyeshadow single journey from companies like Sydney Grace, Devinah, and Lethal Cosmetics. Sydney Grace colours that I have and that suit me are Concrete Road, Regal, Perfect Storm, Cali, Snow Queen, and Parallax Light. Devinah colours that suit me are Esme, London Fog (an absolutely gorgeous pastel grey-green), Ethereal, Frisson and Gaia. Lethal Cosmetics makes a lovely pastel periwinkle called Altitude that i'm obsessed with. For the most part i consider my collection complete, but i'm still on the lookout for one more green and i think i may have found it in Emme Cosmetics, in the shade Aqua, though of course i won't know until i try. The absolute best icy blue-leaning pastel mint comes from Watier, the Canadian brand, in the form of their Eye Shine eye pencil in the shade Aqua (they're available on Sephora, at least in Canada). I sadly took the advice of many a beauty influencer after watching the swatches of literally dozens of people on many different skin tones and bought the Colourpop Stone Cold Fox palette. I was able to wear and therefore salvage three of those 30 shades, but i didn't record the names so i'm not sure what they are - it was the medium muted blue-based grey matte, the light grey-based taupe matte, and the white matte with white sparkles suspended in it.
I think we do have similar coloruring! I'd given up long ago on ever buying any palette that had neutrals because I knew they would always be too warm. Even "cool" palettes like Natasha Denona Retro palette is mostly warm on me and I can only wear a couple shades. Unfortunately I have not given up on palettes in general because I love them! I love to be inspired by a color story. The ones I've found that work for me are the Natasha Denona Retro Glam palette, which is greyish greens and the one neutral shade in there has a bit of a green tinge to it, and the Colourpop Twilight palette. People always think I'm crazy when I say blue eyeshadow is my favorite but on me (and you) it doesn't lok garish or anything. Even a brighter blue will much more at home on my face that it would on a lot of other people's. But it has to have an iciness to it, just like you were saying for you. I'm glad 90s icy blues are starting to trend because I've finally been able to find some after like two decades of looking and not being able to find blues that didn't verge on aquamarine but instead had the icy look, even if they were bright. I also am the same with blushes and lipsticks. Unless I'm going for a bright red, lipstick is impossible. I've found like one or two shades ever that work as a more neutral lip. It takes a lot of the fun out of makeup when all the blushes you buy, no matter the brand, all look identical haha. But yeah, just like you there's only one color of blush that looks good on me and everything else just looks like I rubbed rust on my face so I just stick to that same shade of muted dusty cool pink. I hesitate to even call it mauve because these days apparently everything, even warm rosewood colors, are being called Mauve by brands
@@LexiLadonna oh my goodness, yes! i can't believe what gets called 'mauve.' it makes it so confusing! 'dusty mauve' in most lines tends to be what you're describing - more of a warm rosewood colour, or even just plain rose. most of them are just a warm, vaguely pinkish colour - to make them more "wearable." to me, as soon as I see the word "wearable," i know they mean they've created something with a warm brown/yellow/orange/red/pink base to it, and therefore it is unwearable for me. same with "universally flattering" - they've warmed it up, and in some cases taken out any white base (and/or added a gold one), to make it more "wearable." also - i don't know if you've personally noticed this, but it seems to me that in palettes marketed as cool, the shimmers are always the warmest. i first noticed this in Colourpop's Stone Cold Fox palette - every single one of the shimmers was warm (sometimes with a warm base, but always with golden reflect) except for the blue-grey silver shimmer which was too bright for me to wear. when i started paying attention to that i noticed it in all of the palettes people swatch online - the shimmers tend to be on the warmer side. i'm so, so curious about the Natasha Denona Retro Glam palette. i absolutely adore that colour story and it looks like the greens might actually suit me, even if the rosey tones probably won't. it's such a massive investment though and i don't know anyone in my life who's into makeup and has it so i can check it out in person. pastel greens, blues, and violets brighten my face so much. honestly i'd be tempted to try out a ND palette despite the price just for the simple fact that the pans are removable - so if a portion of the palette doesn't work for me i can rehome the ones that do work into my singles palette. i wish more brands did that. the palette colab between Amy Loves Makeup and Adept also looks promising, in terms of truly cool-toned palettes. i watched her swatch it when she revealed it on her channel and i was impressed how much she committed to cooler tones. i like the range of colours as well. i might try that out at some point. i do believe those pans are removable from the palette as well. :)
Your hair is so beautiful! This is the exact perm I want and I'm so glad I stumbled across this video. I do have a few questions though. Did you get your bangs cut after you had the 1st perm? Should I get mine layered and cut before I do my perm or should I wait til after? I figure maybe it's best to just wait and get the perm done first then go get it cut since the hairstylist can actually be able to see it and go from there
I think you should wait until after, that way you can know how the curls will lay! I got my bangs and layers cut after my perm
OMG thank you so much for taking the time to break this down with diagrams! This answers sooo many of my questions and now I know what to look for!! Thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏼
