46229 storms north up Shap on 30 November 1996
46229 worked 'Days Out' 'Royal Scot' tour from Euston to Glasgow on Saturday 30 November 1996. A class 47 was coupled behind her for ETH and insurance but did not assist on the climb; the load was almost 500 tons.
It was a cold autumn day, the wind had dropped and the sun had sunk into clouds in the west shortly before 46229 could be heard approaching.
My camcorder was under my coat to keep the battery warm so I started the shot a little later than I would have liked. Just after the last coach had passed me the camcorder shut itself off! I got it going again to video the trail of exhaust hanging in the air after her passing.

On Saturday 30 March 1996 46229 worked the East Lancs Railway's 'Trans Pennine Express' bound for Scarborough. The route was Preston - Manchester Victoria - Diggle - Leeds - York - Scarborough - York. The vigorous departure from Preston was videoed about 1 mile south of the station. On a wet autumn day 6024 'King Edward 1' lifts its train of 13 coaches plus a dead 86241 up the 1 in 50 out of Leeds on the Doncaster line. The train was 'The Golden Exchange' which commemorated 50 years since the 1948 locomotive exchanges and 6024 was running as 6018 'King HenryVI'.

Rebuilt 'Merchant Navy' 35005 'Canadian Pacific' in blue livery departs southbound from a water stop at Kettering. She was working 'The Merchant Capitalist' between Nuneaton and London Victoria.

On the cold, sunny morning of Saturday 9 January 1999 rebuilt Merchant Navy 35005 'Canadian Pacific' in blue livery powers up the eastbound gradient towards Hinckley station. The Bulleid Pacific had taken over the train, the 'Merchant Capitalist', at Nuneaton and was running about 25 minutes late because of the relief guard's late arrival.
"Progress was rather rapid" it hit a ton!
I remember it well, would have not have been stood to far away from you. The cold was immense

Thanks nige757; I was so lucky that the camcorder didn't stop until after the last coach. Not so lucky on Beattock in the dark and freezing cold - I could not get it to power up at all!
