The Saints I'm Stranded HQ
On the evening of May 11th 1976, The Saints recorded and mixed this song as well as it's ''b'' side ''No Time'' . It became their first single and was self released on their own Fatal Records label. The studio was called Window Studios, and was situated in Brisbane's West End. The songs were recorded and mixed by Mark Moffatt. The band were Chris Bailey vocals, Ed Kuepper guitar, Ivor Hay drums, and Kym Bradshaw on bass.

Ed Kuepper with Jim White: Pavane (live)
Просмотров 4,4 тыс.2 года назад
'Pavane' performed live here by Jim and myself at the Sydney Opera House earlier this year on our sadly truncated tour. 'Pavane' [meaning slow dance] is the opening song on my Lost Cities album and was loosely inspired by the Keith Roberts book of the same name which was set in a dystopian England where the reformation didn't happen and ignorance and superstition ruled. Written by Ed Kuepper. O...

Ed Kuepper "Honey Steel's Gold" Live at The Tivoli
Loved them but they got a bad time from us when I saw them twice in pommy land . Once at the Croydon Greyhound , once at Hammersmith Odeon. We couldn’t get past the hair and stance. I know better now.
To me, the most important band of the early punk era. Tight, fast and relentless. I was lucky to see them at the Belfast Punk Festival. They were as brilliant as I'd thought they would be.
Legends. Way ahead of their time. Australia you should be so proud of these groundbreakers.
Rivals to the Ramones. Brilliant!
Legendary early punk in UK. Loved the Saints.
Raw. untidy, sweaty, smokey, crude, wet shirts......and absolutely fab-u-luss!!! The Saints, for me at any rate, left an indelible mark on punk rock...I loved them and I'm sorry to hear of Chris Bailey's passing. You made your mark Chris and your legacy endures...and will, well into the future.
So underrated
This is great, looking forward to the shows in November!
Don't talk to me about what you done Ain't nothing has changed it all goes on And they'll keep laughing till the end I've seen them drive around in cars All look the same get drunk in bars And don't talk back we got no social rights Oh perfect day What more to say? Don't need no one to tell me what I don't already know We got no high times always flat If you go out you don't come back It's all so funny I can't laugh! Oh perfect day! What more to say? Don't need no one to tell me what I don't already know! Don't talk to me about what's you done Ain't nothing has changed it all goes on And they'll keep laughing till the end Oh perfect day What's more to say? I don't need no one to tell me what I don't already know Don't need nothing Don't need no one I don't need nothing, nothing at all
100% masterpiece.
Louis Burdett on drum!!
Very similar to 69/70 Iggy Pop.
PS: Just dug out the flyer, it was March 78. Sorry.
Saw this bunch of antipodean rabble rousers at Rafters in Manchester, late 77. RIP Chris Baily.
Damn, this is good.
The first two saints lps were among the very best of this period. Sadly the saints afterwards lost what they once had. A lot of bands did after the first burst of energy was used up. Sad but at least we have two absolute classics. The big exception to the above are the Fall. They were amazing right up to the end. RIP Chris Bailey Mark E Smith John Peel. Ian Curtis and Malcom Owen. Ect ect ect ect. Its true only the good die young.
1977?! Well, then... they were ahead of their time.
Dają ognia!
can you change the settings so I can add it to a playlist?
Insanity how Ed can play like that, it looks like he’s about to give out any second yet he keeps it going.
new race
really gonna punch you out, google it. Radio birdman
Saw loads of bands in Erics club in Liverpool in the 70's Gang of four and the Saints were deffo the best
Saw Ed at The Governor Hindmarsh [Adelaide] 20+ years ago, was just him on stage with a guitar and a load of pedals, he used a wooden crate and his feet as a drum kit. Soubded like there was a full band on stage.
Wonder what the bass player was actually playing at that moment
This Perfect Day stands as a classic song. There's just something special about it, and in this live version, I can hear much to influence Husker Du.
Luugh when the poms say that they invented punk. Look at the dates!!!
Lost Cities is a masterpiece.
Sorry Ed, "The Saints" without Chris Bailey is not The Saints. RIP Chris!
Dam good single if ask me.
Ed and Jeromy that is bloody awesome :)
it's Peter Oxley
Rebecca Hancock yes
Very Berlin Babylon
O my misspent life! 😢😂❤
Mates rip ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Reminds me of listening to Triple J in the early 90s. I’d kill to go back …
Guitarist reminds me of Keith Levene.
Still sounds brilliant, new and fresh even today
Great sound, I bought the 45 rpm - NME single of the week if I remember rightly.
Still got it?
Thank you Ed. A country song that lives with the best ones ever written in G
Sounds like a sister song 2 The Heartbreakers Born to Lose
i'm still winding windows , because i own a seventies car ...
Aussie legends
the singer is too cool
Rip Chris 😞🥀
(Yeah All right Sing it up, west coast Too much!) I'm just sitting in my chair when a voice comes on the air Says "Why don't you try it? You'll feel all right!" "Got some great new brand of smokes, cool your head and clear your throat "Keeps you young, yeah, so in touch." Cheap advertising, you're lying Never gonna get me what I want I said, smooth talking, brain washing Ain't never gonna get me what I need "Our new soap that's peachy keen saves your soul and keeps you clean "It's recommended, used by the Queen "Gonna improve your IQ, help in everything you do "It's economic, don't cost too much." Said advertising, you're lying Never gonna give me what I want I said, smooth talking, brain washing Ain't never gonna get me what I need (I said take it Come on Soul man Let's shoot the professor! Alright!) I'm just sitting in my chair when a voice comes on the air Says "Why don't you try it? You'll feel all right!" "It's a great new brand of smokes "Cool your head and clears your throat "Keeps you young and so in touch." Said advertising, you're lying You're never gonna give me what I want I said smooth talking, brain washing You're never gonna get me what I need (What do I care? Yeah! Hey man Where's the professor? We need him now! Gonna tell you 'bout them Yeah we take it all the way 'round the world For that west coast feel Yeah man Yeah everything, let it out It's not what you love Look out on the radio All right Yeah Yeah...)
That guitar sound is just incredible. Hits you in the guts from the opening note and doesn't let up. Epic track.
Literally changed my life
