I think the "Super-Vee" tremolo is so much better. You can dive bomb and pull back. Plus you don't have to disassemble anything, just remove the old trem, and screw the Super-Vee in all the way as if you're making your trem a hard tail (you won't). Replace springs, strings and dive bomb or pull back to your heart's content. Locking tuners are recommended.

Installed it on my V without issues (other than the pickguard mod). I see others making videos making drastic mods to guitars saying that the FRX is flawed. Well, I just installed on a Gibson Flying V without making any mods to the body and it works flawlessly. Thank you for such a great product.🎸

The centering of the tremolo should be relative to the neck and not the pick guard cutout. The assumption in the video is the pick guard is centered relative to the neck, which may or may not be true.

From my experience this is a dive only (semi hard tail) Tremolo with an aligned pivot action so home position is resting on the top of the guitar, it is not floating, which is good for tuning stability. Generally the guitar is used for occasional Tremolo dives, so staying in tune is set as a higher priority than the use of the Tremolo. The number of springs used and the claw extend position is a force balance preference, but always done with the tail resting on the guitar . I think most players bending strings with this setup will tend to have a fair amount of force to move the Tremolo. So you may ask why buy it? There are several advantages over the factor Tremolo. For example: The string break points are smooth without binding which helps with dives and intonation. The pivot action means the tremolo is always square to the guitar body. The strings are actually located on the tremolo so they cannot move, like the stock tremolo just using a bended surface, this constantly locates the strings during dives and sets a equal and consistent string to string spacing. If the player does not want to use the tremolo for a specific performance or recording you can just add more springs and remove the bar, which turns it into a hard tail-stop.

Surely having a locking nut behind the nut would cause tuning stability problems? Isn't this part of the reason Kahlers never stayed in tune? 🤔😬 People tend to use the Floyd nut with a Kahler these days to improve tuning stability, but aren't you going backwards with the locking unit behind the nut? The nut on the guitar would have to be extremely well cut, probably with the slots widened and properly lubricated. A lot of extra hassle to have a trem on a Gibson!!! A good idea in theory, but why the big metal piece at the back, it looks so ugly!! 😬 What was wrong with the original "bolt on" floyd for hard tail guitars, it looked so much neater? Why don't you make those again (or at least the base plates)?🤔

I figured two screws would be easy. I measured many times, found the drill bit closest to the diameter of the screws without going over, did the 2.5mm pilot screw per the booklet, went more like 5mm because the screws were stubborn, turned slowly and carefully, and then... stripped one screw and broke the head off the other right as it got tight. So my Les Paul's headstock is a mess. I'm not even sure what to do. I've used screws in maybe hundreds or thousands of jobs, but can't remember something like this happening. I'm at a loss of what to do.

** Something I found out the hard way ** The locking nut it comes with is meant for a Gibson style headstock...Not sure if that includes the Firebird/Explorer...but the nut it came with does not fit on my LTD Pheonix headstock. It's just too large, and ends up touching two of the tuning heads. I'll probably need to buy an FR nut and install that instead of the one the FRX comes with...but not something I expected.

I have a ton of complaints on this thing. The first of many is the fact that the only videos out there on the installation of this bridge is on flat body guitars. No arched body guitars like Les Paul styled. The installation and set up instructions are vague AT BEST!! Specific complaints: 1. Height of "intonation posts" being 5/8" of an inch in this video. That works on flat top guitars. Not arched. 2. String height/action screws: do these have to be set so base plate is level? 3. How about a video on installation completely from scratch and not preset/ after the fact. Like, string height abs all the other setup bullshit only comes after truss rod adjustment. 4. Intonation issues: strings cannot be intonated because of all of previous mentioned problems. Strings 1, 2 and 3 saddles can't be moved forward anymore because they're already on the forward screw position. 5. The tension adjustment screw is not centered in the back hole which needs to be supposedly. All talk about this and nothing is discussed about how to make sure it is. Great ideas behind the unit but Floyd Rose R&D needed about 5 more years of testing. The marketing department is a joke at best. The support department doesn't fucking exist because not only have I attempted contact but so many others have tried and failed also.

I'm not sure how to find nut information, however, in this video, there is absolutely nothing on this subject! Specifically, neck angle from the existing nut, how to correct the string angle from the FRX nut slots when the string isn't touching the slot on the tuner side (shimming the nut, etc) . I realize most of the people installing this are probably doing so on a Gibson but I'm sure that there are a few including myself trying to do this on an Epiphone LP Custom. This information would be very helpful! Thank you!
