      It will! Just take your time and enjoy the process! If it gets too slow, you can alternate with rows of double or half double crochet at regular intervals (5-10 inches of each).

      @MalinkaYarnCrafts Thanks for your suggestion! Either of those will give it visual interest and help hold it's "shape", yes?

    • @MalinkaYarnCrafts
      @MalinkaYarnCrafts Месяц назад

      @@Pakrs61 As far as fabric density both will give a similar result. As far as width, you will need to make sure that the rows of DC or HDC have the same nr of stitches that you had in the very beginning. For example here I did 12 (mltpl of 6) + 5 and started in the second chain from the hook, so my total stitches worked into was 12+4=16 sts. So if I wanted to do rows of DC in this sample, I would have to make sure that I have 16 DCs. This might sound a bit complicated for beginners but I hope it makes sense!

      @MalinkaYarnCrafts Месяц назад

      Thank you! This specific yarn is available at Michaels if you are in the US. But you don't have to use the same yarn, you can replace it with any cotton, if it is lightweight, you will double it and if it is Medium to bulky, you will work with one strand. You can also go to Yarnsubs website and they will give you options as well.

    I usually do 120 stitches for a size large. How much positive ease does this have?

    • @MalinkaYarnCrafts
      @MalinkaYarnCrafts Месяц назад

      This has aprox 6 inches of positive ease, probably more if you crochet loose. The instructions in the video will fit Small and Medium, provided you use the same weight yarn and hook and your gauge is similar.

    You might consider working into the back bump of chain when starting without a single crochet base row. I also notice how uneven the side edges are, is there a way to improve the side borders?

    • @AliP1970
      @AliP1970 2 месяца назад

      I'm working this up right now, and while I did work into the "back bump" on row 1, I'm finding that the edges are quite neat. Plus, it would be very easy to put a border on it. Hope this helps! Have a great weekend

    • @MalinkaYarnCrafts
      @MalinkaYarnCrafts 2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your feedback. I do sometimes work into back bumps (you may see that in some of my other stitch tutorials), depending on the project. However, I think that this is a matter of preference and I like to leave this to the discretion of the individual crocheter. As far as the edges, I agree that ch3 at the beginning usually creates uneven edges. There are a couple of things that could be done to prevent that, but this is a subject for a separate tutorial. You can look up FDC, where you stack up 2 single crochets on top of each other at the beginning of the row, or you can work an additional DC into the same stitch and not count the ch3 as a stitch.

    How come you didn’t crochet it as in the image as your video cover. This was made in tha round, so I thought that’s what I thought you were going to crochet the lemon peel stitch in the round as in the video cover image. I really wanted to learn that.

    • @MalinkaYarnCrafts
      @MalinkaYarnCrafts 5 месяцев назад

      I was playing around with frames and formatting for the cover, not realizing that it may cause confusion. This was definitely worked in rows, like in the tutorial, and the foto was inserted in a round frame. Sorry about that! I will try to replace the cover to avoid further misunderstandings. Thank you for pointing it out. I am also now wondering if I can figure out how to work this stitch in a flat circle... I love a good challenge ☺️

    What types of things would be good to make with this stitch?

    • @MalinkaYarnCrafts
      @MalinkaYarnCrafts 5 месяцев назад

      Wash cloths, towels, pot holders, place mats. Would probably work well for earwarmers since the texture is so dense that it might keep your ears nice and toasty if used with warmer/thicker types of yarn.
