I've repaired/restored and resurrected a "few" cars in life, mostly restorations but am thinking about doing what you do now that I'm retared..... RETIRED with too much time on my hands and NEED to do something other than sit here and watch videos on RUclips or another episode of Jerry Springer all day so now thinking about doing this... fixing up some worn out stuff to resale for the extra cash and keeping me sanity in my retirement. First question is your opinion of the Subaru brand if you have one. My daughter has owned a couple/few with them being less than a "good car" with one, I think it was called a CrossTech or something to that name being a "First Year" model she said she had to replace the engine on it twice. Now, an engine replacement to her "COULD" mean something like a head gasket and I don't know any real details other than what she said to me that I stated above. That makes me a little weary about the brand without real and professional opinion of the brand though. The car being sold to a friend of theirs is still having "problems" but have no idea how knowledgeable the "friend"/new owner is about turning a wrench though either. Do you have an opinion of the Subaru brand? 4X4's are popular in this state of Colorado I have my shop at and being an all wheel/4X4 CAR makes a difference as well being they are seen all over this state and area of my shop.

I had a 2014 and nothing but issues. 2nd transmission and the engine was on its way out as well at only 130k. They're known to have engine block failures and have coolant intrusion. Also known for waste gate failure on the turbo. Id steer clear of the Ecoboost engines 2013-2019 I'm the future for all Ford's.

Nice flip. You should use a torque wrench whenever putting a valve cover gasket back on. They have a torque rating for each vehicle so it doesn't get under or overtorqued. It can leak again. Same with mounting wheels and tires, spark plugs, etc. 😎

Honda civics and Toyota corollas are bread and butter, everyone wants those cars.

Yea, checking the stuff that is a part of normal maintenance is so important! Forget the stupid stuff like checking for frame damage, test driving on highway n going thru the gears on the trans! Oil n coolant look good, car is good!🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤡🤡

I don’t get some people I don’t mind if you fix the car and add it to the asking price since that’s a time saving and the car needs it!! Plus I would refer you if you was an honest person . Better you make one dollar and let it continue instead of making $100 and the relationship is over

Its such an easy fix...but people are shady and sell their problems instead of fixing them....ask me how i know...

If the cars running good, in not checking plugs n the first place. Leaking gaskets is basic maintenance and nothing shady about not fixing every lil thing on a car befoee selling it. Buyer beware and do your own dillegence!

First and foremost I wouldn't even buy one of those Fords to flip they're unreliable and have really bad transmission problems

The Focus is the one you really need to stay away from. I've bought 2 from the auction and one of them I was able to fix the transmission issue myself but the second one I took a loss on. Now I want even look at a focus at the auction. I don't care how cheap they are going for. I haven't dealt with the Escape yet and I probably will not buy one because of the transmission issues.

You could probably sell it for a bit more if you detail the car better. You can wash/clay bar/ compound/ polish/glaze and wax in a few hours for fairly cheap and shampoo the seats and carpets and wash the engine bay. Some people specially women pay most of their attention to the aesthetics of the car and not so much of the mechanical aspects.
