    I've just come across this video. I have re customed a vintage tartan blanket and was a bit scared(as its a Royal Stewart tartan about 50 years old) of how i would finish off the edges. I tried faux leather but it wasn't too nice. I liked how you finished your blankets with a hem so ill try that but not sure if it will be too bulky. Its half finished and i've worn it already just to finish off and place pockets. I've had so many compliments already last winter and hopefully this winter also. thanks again you've given me confidence to finish it properly. wish me luck x

    Good morning Sasha! I just found you on RUclips this morning. I was looking for instructions for making a coat from a vintage blanket and came across your tutorial. Wow! I am blown away by your genius ideas!! I then watched this tutorial for making the elasticized waist for palazzo pants and once again I am blown away by your creative ideas! I have a gorgeous vintage wedding dress with exquisite lace fabric with a lily-of-the-valley design woven into it. There are many yards of fabric in this dress and my plan is to make myself a pant suit to wear for special occasions. I think your palazzo pant pattern is the one to use for this project. I will keep you posted on how my projects go. Thank you so very much for sharing your sewing and creative expertise! xo Laura

    Hi ! Thank you for this hack. I have a question : I did not catch anything about the buttonholes in the video (I hope I did not just miss it). As far as I understand, they are made to let the ribbon stick out of the waistband and should not be necessary in the elasticated version. Is that right ? Did I misunderstood something ?

    • @sashastarlight

    • @orsolyalevay2830
      @orsolyalevay2830 Месяц назад

      Hi, I bought the pattern so I can help out a bit. So if you look at the sizing, M doesn't mean conventional Medium. It ranges through several sizes as it is very adjustable in the waist. I think I made the trouser in size "M" and it carried me through several size changes in the past years (pregnancy+postpartum). My guess if you look at "pattern L" then you will be able to adjust it to conventional size L-3XL

      @ Thank you! 🥰

    • @sashastarlight
      @sashastarlight Месяц назад

      So the 'Large' size of this pattern is equivalent to an international 3XL/UK 24/US 20 - if you have a look at the size chart in the listing it gives the exact measurements so you can check against your own sizings 🙃 There's also a free grading guide for this pattern to adjust up to any size above that which you can download here - drive.google.com/file/d/12IPoNV7CgQ8I4kST6tbXlWrp9cOWQcnA/view?usp=sharing 🙃 ✨

    My parents were big ironers and as a child, I was taught to iron men's shirts using starch in the wash. Plus, my school uniform. I don't like it, but I do it and keep it a secret as people expect you to iron for them as a show of love or friendship. I also iron as I sew, and it is a necessary chore. Other chore was polishing and shining school leather shoes. Keep that a secret too, or.... Keep your mending skills a secret too. I like the music you use.

    • @sashastarlight
      @sashastarlight Месяц назад

      looool yes very wise words - I'm obsessive about ironing when I'm sewing as it makes such a big difference to the finish but I avoid it like the plague when I'm not at work 😝 ✨

    What number should the tension be at for the upper thread? I’m new to using sewing machines

    • @sashastarlight
      @sashastarlight 2 месяца назад

      that will depend on your machine & the fabric - but you want standard tension on the top. As a general rule higher tensions are for heavier fabrics and lower tensions for lighter ones - it's always best to start in the middle & try out on a scrap of test fabric first! 🙃 ✨

    Is there a reason why you wouldn't just seal the sleeves while it's inside out and then bag out?

    • @kibriyamehrban9543
      @kibriyamehrban9543 2 месяца назад

      You won't be able to bag it out like that! Kinda difficult to explain but if you close up the sleeve while it's inside out, there's no way to turn it back out. I just checked... 🤭

    • @sashastarlight
      @sashastarlight 2 месяца назад

      yes that's right - a little bit hard to get your head around at first but if you seal up the sleeves when it's inside out the lining will twist when you turn it back around even if you leave an exit hole... If you pin the the sleeves closed and turn it back around it's actually quite a good exercise to do as it helps you understand the mechanics of the process a bit better! ✂️ ✨
