1997 Honda Shadow ACE Oil Change
Changing the oil on a 1997 Honda shadow ace American classic edition
Located the drain bolt on the left side of the engine and the external oil filter on the back of the engine toward the left side as well.
The drain bolt is a 17mm bolt. Removed the bolt and drained the oil. Opened the oil fill port to let the air through.
Remove the oil filter with a c clamp. Added a bit of oil in the filter and screw it back in place. Replaced the drain plug.
Added about 3 quarts and a quarter oil to the bike, cranked up the bike and checked the oil level.

    Hey man, not sure if you’re monitoring this 2 years later, but great vid and super helpful so far. Although, I’m trying to remove the 8mm drain bolt from the bottom of my forks and it seems to be turning the spring inside, but not coming out. I’ve got the whole assembly clamped, the bolt turns, but isn’t unscrewing, if that makes sense. Any tips? Nvm. using an impact worked and helped break the bolt out of the threads, for in case anyone else runs into the same issue.

    Good job over all. I just want to bring up two things. You didn't mention the "spring plate" in your clutch pack. At 6:04 you mention that you think somebody put two steel plates together. That is in fact the spring plate, or as is the Harley world, the Grenade Plate since they have a habit of coming apart in the clutch pack and causing much damage LOL ... The spring plate sits in the middle of the clutch pack. It is there to make for a smoother, more forgiving clutch. I'm assuming you replaced yours with two steels and a friction, as most clutch kits do, even though you didn't mention it. And second, you can buy a simple pin wrench from any auto parts store to remove the clutch basket center nut. Or, if you have a Dremel with a cut off wheel or even a hacksaw and a socket the same size as that nut, you can make a socket to remove that nut easier ....

    great video . I'm saving it , as my son and I just bought a 1977 CB750A this weekend. It was sitting in an open end tractor shed for more than five years. The tank was removed and stored inside his house, so we're hopeful that it's rust free. I'll subscribe to your channel in hopes of more help on the 750A. Where can someone get a hanging fuel holder like the one you used in the first start?

    I watched both videos and wondered how well you cleaned the carbs? After you soda blasted them did you pull the slow jets or the pilot jets? The idle is dependant on clean passages and jets. How about the ignition? A timed ignition is critical in these machines. I have a 77 Automatic to do the same process to after a 78 K model. You made a better video than I could so good for you on that part.

    • @61fourMoto
      @61fourMoto Год назад

      Thanks. I actually plan on separating the carbs to clean and rebuild them. I did develop a slow leak, probably and O-ring. I will also go through the ignition system to make sure everything is one point. Coils, sparks and wire will be replaced. Points will probably be replaced as well depending on their condition.
