Mullin was the ultimate gym rat. Big East had 2 of the top 3 ranked teams in the nation that year (Georgetown and St. Johns), plus Villanova won the national championship while unranked. Too bad John Thompson broke so many rules every year having players who were paid and weren't within 100 miles of actually being real students at Georgetown.

What a great time for Big East basketball. To hear the building that would eventually make him their favorite son booing Ewing was unreal. Chris Mullin was easily among the best players in the country. Walter Berry was another stud for sure.
