"What Ya Gonna Do Now", Jimmy Jenson, 1964
Another Jimmy Jenson recording- see information about him on my previous video. I THINK this recording might be an original composition, but if anyone has information to the contrary, please let me know!

"Green Green", Jimmy Jenson, 1964

Jimmy Jenson was a scandinavian musician in Minnesota, born in 1931 and died in 2015. He recorded a number of LPs containing covers, "scandinavian parodies", and, seemingly, a few original songs, or covers I have not yet been able to find another recording of.

An Evening In Caroline (1932) - Durium Dance Band - Hit Of The Week EN-10

This is from a cardboard Hit Of The Week, or Durium, record- one of two songs on the record itself. I'm a big fan of this upbeat recording, with a tempo faster than any other recording I've heard of the song. Unfortunately, the transfer is an old Internet Archive one, but it will have to suffice until I can track down a copy of my own. Enjoy!

Well, I'm back from the dead! And with a HOT record too! This recording isn't anywhere online, but I got it with my Victor Credenza, along with a number of other discs in equally fantastic condition. This is a fun little number on Vocalion 15278, with Harry Reser and his band playing under yet another pseudonym. With Tommy Stacks on the vocal, it's hard to go wrong. This is a cute little song recorded in 1921. I don't believe this version on Emerson has been uploaded to RUclips yet. I really like the accompaniment, and the background noise is pretty quiet for an Internet Archive transfer. Enjoy the music!

Brunswick 3089-B I really enjoy this rendition- the (Baritone?) sax part playing the melody before the chorus is something unique to this recording, and doesn't disappoint. I'm not a huge fan of the vocal on this, but the orchestra more than makes up for it. I believe this is a "light-ray" recording, before Brunswick got their hands on true microphones. Sounds like a bit of a mix between acoust...

This is an old video I found on my phone. I'll probably try it again after cleaning and actually running it thru an EQ curve. My copy of this 78 has a chip in the first couple of grooves, cutting out a couple of guitar notes. Hopefully I can get a better transfer and restoration, or optimally, a better copy. Enjoy, I suppose.

This is a fun recording. He reminds me of other Scandinavian dialect musicians like Hjalmar Peterson, Ernest and Clarence Iverson, and Harry Skarbo/Yogi Yorgesson. Though I had never heard of Jimmy Jenson until now. Also, it's always nice to run into another 78 and old LP record collector from Minnesota "in the wild" on RUclips. Do you have other recordings by Minnesota performers from the 60s or earlier?
