Nice tune. What's the name.
Its called In My Arms Instead by Randy Rogers Band
@StartupCowboy thy vm
I remember Listening to this song when I was 5
Regarding taking your hat off in a religious setting, this applies to church, but not to temple or synagogue. There, you leave your at ON out of respect.
7:11 tell me you’ve never held a tiny baby without telling me you’ve never held a tiny baby.😂😂😂
I have all sorts of hats, including a number of different cowboy and similar hats. Some of the hats I have include: A crushable black wool felt slouch hat, a black felt gambler hat with a relaxed quarter horse brim, black felt cowboy hat with a quarter horse brim, two 5 inch brim Sunbody palm leaf hats (one Espanola with a flat brim and one Gus hat), and brown Buffalo leather cowboy hat with a flat brim. I have slightly sensitive skin and even putting on sunscreen, my ears are prone to getting sunburn so I prefer a hat with a 4 1/2 to 5 inch brim that is usually flat so it protects my ears from the direct sun.
Never brim down never on a bed
Florida is straw year round if you actually wear it for shade
I understand your video is over a year but wanted to comment on the buckle location. I have been told, not that it’s correct, that the buckle also matches your marital status. I wear mine following that
that's the worst food ever
Excuse me sir but please take your hat off indoors.
Thank you for the education.
in Texas and the South in general, straw season is considered from Easter to October 1st, but if outside event and still warm wear a straw - also, if inside event like a party or wedding ok to wear felt in summer especially a lighter color
I have a straw Stetson for those seasons. And old cowboys (1800's) wore straw at those seasons too plus even derby bowler hats in san fran and big cities. I hate seeing sweat stains on a nice felt hat.
I’ve been watching tutorials for the past hour. Everyone has a different way but yours is by far the best!👏🏻
I wish I could take the credit, but one of my cowboy hero’s taught me this way to tie it when I was 7 and it just made the most sense. Glad it worked for you!
I don’t like the modern squared front of the brim especially in western movies where they wear the style of the decade the movie was made instead of what cowboys wore in the late 1800’s which was round crowned mostly like yours.
Best coffee in the world? Ever had Death Wish or any single origin Coffee from South America?
Native Texan here from Houston and our hat rules regarding wearing a hat indoors are frequently non binding. People wear hats inside and eating frequently. Also the hat season has gotten really loose. Some wear straw or palm all year long. Latinos also have variances on their hats as well and I’m talking about really cowboys/ vicaros. The weather down here is so fickle, really hot weather, 90s in the fall or winter is not uncommon at all. Therefore, straw or palm hats are frequently seen then. However, you’re not supposed to wear your felt hat after the Houston Rodeo season is over with.
So, you all you in the comments who say you were taught to ALWAYS take off your hat "indoors"... were taught to take off your hat at a grocery store? At a hardware store? In a warehouse? At work in your shop? How about a feed store? A bar? An indoor concert, or a dancehall? Bullshit. I'm not a cowboy, but I lived in Texas for 17 years, and North Dakota for 10. I've been around real cowboys much of my life. The traditional etiquette is to only take off your hat in certain environments, not to "always take it off when indoors, regardless of the building".
Also a Texan, and gotta say your delivery, method, style whatever you call a presentation is excellent. I’ve commented on this before that you do a great job. I liked the short brim you first showed. Style/maker? I have an open road that I’ve flattened the brim on, but really like that displayed one too. And in all honesty, it does look like the front brim is wider. But I’m more a Garth Brooks rodeo roll, so what do I know?
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! The short brim hat is actually a Resistol 6X hat. I believe it’s at least 30 years old. I got it from a thrift shop and reshaped it to look the way it does in this video. I’m not sure if Resistol still sells a product like this. I know that Stetson makes a hat with similar dimensions now and I believe the brim on this is about 3 1/4 inches. Slightly bigger than the open road at 2 3/4. Super cool for sure.
I let George Strraight determine my bull rider style. I had preconceptions but i was wrong. Resistol 6x felt 4.25 wide brim. I get compliments all the time. 2 offers to buy it. And visibly took the breath away from some young ladies. 😉 (I'm not a bull rider. I pull flatbeds hauling steel. I thought i would have felt and straw hats but i was wrong. I look down on guys with straw hats now)
Lol, I want one of those black, flat-rimmed, "Wyatt Earp" hats.
I must have watched a dozen flicks about tying the buckaroo knot. Yours is by far the easiest to follow and the one I learned from👍👌
For sure
Cool video, man . Wasn't what I was looking for but I stayed for the whole thing because this was very interesting.
Just started working for a small local hat shop and I’m essentially teaching myself hat shaping… This video is so so helpful, thank you!!!
I’m so glad you are using this channel to learn. That was the whole purpose and reason why I started making videos. Information like this should free and available for anyone to learn. Take your hat off inside. What if your hair is jacked up when you take hat off?
Lifesaver!
So relaxing to hear a horse munching their hay .
Looks like your hat's on backwards or something.
It’s not 👍🏼
@StartupCowboy Ok. If you say so.
Hands off my Fooking hat. People east of the Mississippi don’t seem to know not to touch a persons hat
I see more “cowboys” wearing their hat at the dinner table in a restaurant 🙄
Don't do what this guy said. I just followed his video only 20 minutes ago, and my boots are now stained. They were good boots and brand new. So don't follow his instructions don't put leather near oils.
I'm jewish so we put on our hats to show respect to others. I did learn in Alabama that there is a christian view that it's more respectful to take off the hat although I also met some cowboy christians who do wear their hats in church.
Great review about a combination of boot features that aren’t talked about nearly enough: roper heel, on a grippy-ish eva waffle sole, with serious leather lined construction for winter. Great.
Roughout isn't suede it's the flesh side and is super tough compared to suede.
I thought suede and roughout were two different things.
Gentlemen do not wear their hats indoors. Hicks and the uncouth proudly wear their hats indoors.
Outstanding!
I was actually looking at the JK Western boots, nobody has really any review on them yet, so this was really helpful
Happy to hear that!
I was told the reason for the fringe apron is because it can be replaced if it gets worn out. (from dragging calves for example) It's easier to replace that then the whole set.
Good review, however l wished you would have shown a close up view of the boots in a better light. Also ,what is the price of those boots.
I’ll use those boots in a video I have coming up for a closer look!
@StartupCowboy Great . Always look forward to your videos. BTW, I did go to their website. Are they the Buck boots?
Yes they are!
Hats off indoors. I hate seeing baseball hats being worn in restaurants. It cheapens the experience.

Brokeback Mountain cowboy.
Why do people feel the need to insult strangers?
@@The_Double_GI don't get it either. The man in the video looks quite fit for the job, and it's clear he's no stranger to hard work.
@ it’s hard to be a good dude now I guess. 🤷
I like the hat.. very much
Thanks man I been trying to figure this knot out
Glad it helped!
OR towel. Brilliant!
Great video. Is that a 42 or 34" wild rag? Want make sure im getting right size. Thank you.
I buy the 34” rags typically!
@@StartupCowboy Thanks so much, Sir. Appreciated.
I earned my hat on a horse and my boots on a bull. Other than prayer, national anthem or blatant disrespect I’d think it was funny if a “Cowboy” suggested how or where I can wear either.
Nice . Now show us to tie that knot please.

@@StartupCowboy Thank you for replying and the tutorial. Best one that I have seen.
Before idiots started wearing backwards baseball caps, while holding up their underpants in order to walk the rules were simple. Men removed hats when indoors. They carried the hat or placed it on yes, a hat rack. Back then even thieves did not steal hats. For the military the rule was slightly different, hats off indoors unless you were under arms, either bearing an actual weapon or wearing something like a pistol belt with or without a holster. If you went to a Catholic church women covered and men uncovered as sign of respect. Even protestants understood that rule. Then there was ranch country, where a man would come in take off his army boots, let out a sigh of relief and pull on his cowboy boots, but not put on his Stetson or straw. If you went to a good restaurant in Texas the men left their hats at the door. But at the bar after a day on the range or ranch office, you might see them at the bar wearing their stained and frayed hats. It was much the same in Idaho, Utah and Arizona. What about a dance? You put on clean duds, your good boots and hat and then left the hat at the door or on the table. I think you see the drift, No hats indoors, cowboy hats are not business wear, cowboy hats are not formal wear. If you follow those rules life is simple. What you wear at home is your business the same as putting your feet up on the furniture, but not OK in public just because you like it. No complicated rules once you get that.
