Located in remote woodland, Moore Hall is said to be one of the most haunted sites in Ireland. It has an incredible history, from grand national winners to prolific writers and politicians. The end of Moore hall came in the 1920s when it was burnt by the IRA. The Moore's were good landlords and kept their tenants safe and fed during the time of famine. Locals to this day speak fondly of the fam...

Four Courts is nothing to be proud about...
It needs repairing and bringing back into use
😂 like hell he did "father brown" 😂😂😂 i descend frm the photographer & grew up wth those photos what utter bollocks
The only remotely relevant thing I can think of is that Titanic was built in Ireland at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. I assume there is a personal link.
Could you do one about the oduinne clan?
There's photos from inside this place in the national archives
Are you Eoin?
Turd Earl... 🤭
If the house wasn't built, wouldn't others still have nothing?
❤
In the UK anything over 300 years old is considered a castle.
Breagha 😅
The first idea I had when I saw it in this video was to play hand ball on it. But more than likely is to shoot a rope with something to anchor it into the wall and scale it. I can just see a bunch of rock climbers trying to scale it! Or climb to a certain point and then run along the wall and swing around to see if it’s possible to get around the corners to the other side. Why are you getting made at me? I’m just suggesting to try these things out. It’s just standing there, vacant and all. This way it’s being put to use. Oh and once they scale this castle. People can BASE jump parachute down, or use a hang glider, or set up a long cable across the area, and ride down on a harness. I’m not sure if it could be converted into an outdoor concert venue. The one side on the ground has been carved out for some purpose, but it looks like you could set up a stage and use the castle as the back wall. Bring little life back to the joint in some way. Oh one thing I did notice. I wonder if it could be set up as a sun dial? Or perhaps, the staircase could be replaced with a steel staircase, and the top of castle set up for star gazing during clear nights. It doesn’t look like there’s any lights in the surrounding area to take away from setting up telescopes on it. Just how far is it from the nearest university with an astronomy course? I like to see that castle woken up and given another life.
or add a lot of coloured lights and loud music and call it Disney Galway?
🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪😎🤘
A surviving argument for why some people have too much wealth so that others can have almost nothing.
The Vikings recorded as attacking Ireland before what was the beginning of vikings raids
One has to suppose that there was some kind of wooden structure around or attached to this tower that is long gone.
Very beautiful house...
I guess they didnt have rulers or couldnt count or something back then. Like zero symmetry or aesthetics going on 😂
It's designed with narrow offset windows to make it difficult for archers to get an arrow through.
@tiandao8503 oh yes I have those little arrow windows in my shed which is in an old outpost town. Although these are later it is a cromwellian town apparently. It was more thendoor being slightly off center that was disturbing me. That slightly offset door would have no purpose in warfare its just a very eathetically unpleasant position. The windows I don't mind since they are presumably going up a stair on on side and hence don't conform to levels... but there's no excuse for the door! Lol😂
Imagine all the wooden stuff and stacked stones that would have been built around it. Very cool find sir
Killarney Drive Circa 2000 +/-, Arlington Country Club well before,Richmond KY. Deja Vu 🤔
I hate new years day nothing happens ❤❤❤
Went there on Halloween night a couple of years ago ,it was and still is the creepiest place I’ve ever been ,it’s owned by an American woman who bought it after breaking in to the house and fell in love with the building ,the trees are in the shape of an Union Jack from Ariel view
So beautiful. The music is wonderful❤❤❤
🤩🤩🤩😂
Magnificent British building in Ireland. One of many.
Bi cúramach ansin a bhuachaill! 😅
No shit Sherlock
Back when there was little money in the country, very few people could afford to run a house like this, let alone renovate it. Often the estate was split up due to death duties, so there was no income to support people to live there.
So you are, telling me the Vandals came back through space and time to burn down a building?
So who owns the land???
I love the way you have looked at it having a hairstyle 🙂 I’m sure most would not have the depth of imagination 💚 thanks for making me smile this morning ✨
Looks like Carrigaholt in Co. Clare. Similar tall narrow tower house.
My Grandad did kitchens and heating for Lord Donoughmore. According to my dad he wouldn’t let anyone else in the house (to do work) besides my grandad.
Fr.Brown was related to my father's side of the family.
Love your videos! I am a 39 year old Alaskan resident. But I spent my early years in Ireland, Limerick to be exact. My first memories are exploring old castles in the countryside on somebody's farm. This brings me back to when I was a wee lad.
We used to be able to go up to it in the 1980s. One of our friends had worked on the house and was allowed to bring us to see it from the outside. In the late 80s it was still entirely fixable as a Big House but the local farmer just wanted the land around it and he sold it to a guy who later disappeared or ran off. since the owner was never found the house fell just to ruin. That’s the story that went around locally. Shame to see it like this now. It had its roof on and just needed refurbishment when we saw it.
Imagine a beautiful building like this, out in the middle of nowhere and still not safe from vandals. Its just sad.
Where is this ?
By Bettystown Co Meath. It’s in the Pilltown Road.
These houses are a relict of a time when Ireland was treated as little more than a colony by the British. They've had their time...
@@emcc8598 Not true. There is no reasoning with your levels of embitterment.
@H-nx8wr Yup it's true sadly... I know there's some who would try to deny centuries of invasion and colonisation with 97% of all land in Ireland being owned by the descendants of English and British colonists by the mid 1800s- with Ireland losing 50% of its population to starvation and forced emigration. But hey there we are...relicts
@@emcc8598 The only way you'd be happy is if Ireland never had any contact with any other nation on earth, ever. You fixate on certain parts of Irish history, yet you cannot see or do not understand progression or the nuances of human connectivity. You are determined to hate and blame as a blanket cover to your own guilt.
I'm guessing it was disused and empty when it burnt down ?
Sad
I know that castle. It's between Gort and Craughwell. I always thought it might have been the preliminary entrance of a later to be built structure.
Very Nice.
Nineteen turty tree?
Where is this place ? 🍀 🇮🇪
So sad to see these once fine homes nothing more than a place to for trees to grow inside surely the interior should be kept kept so they don’t rot i.e. knocking cutting down all the trees and shrubs. It was a fine period in Ireland. It would never happen again. Unfortunately, the civil war destroyed many a fine home the Irish cut off the nose spite their face they missed and still loved.
Agh Jesus tis a beautiful castle absolutely beautiful
The owner from 1969 who gave the house and estate to the Irish state in1994 was Major Cholmeley Harrison. He lived there until his death aged 99 in July 2008. He became very enormously wealthy through his work and investments as a stockbroker. I heard that at one time his wealth was exceptional.
There were many many despicable.lamdlords in Ireland in 1 8 19 century Ireland
Mass graves are often associated with brutal dictators. The Catholic Church has to address this in depth.
So sad.
Where’s that?
