Freight And Passenger Trains: Making the mainline a challenge in an operating session.
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.2 месяца назад
There is no doubt that the best part of an operating session is switching the industries. But what about the mainline? Yeah ok, running a train from 1 yard to the next can be boring but it doesn't have to be. How so you might ask? Well, how about adding additional trains at certain times and different types that have different agendas! Thats how you clog up a mainline and make it a challenge an...

I saw something similar on another channel/ video where the vehicles move wireless on a layout in Ho scale Amazing. 👍
🆗 Mooo 🐮 🤣🛤️ (Nice scenery. )
Authentic looking historical & artistic. 👍 🎨
That's by Bachmann, nice excursion train set. 👍
Love the look of those weathered AC's. This form of operation based switching really makes it interesting.
Thanks for another fun episode. I Thoroughly enjoy these videos. 😊
Glad you like them!
Nice weathered engines.
Enjoyed every minute.
Glad you liked it!
fantastic layout
Glad you like it!
You're presentation is awesome. I am so sorry your RF & P Box car got broken. Ah man. Glad you got it on video prior to this unfortunate situation. A lot of railroad action with CSX . Your channel & many others in the U.S. have me 💯 on board with model trains. I view daily & nights to , action here superb to. Will keep watching of course This layout to makes my day. Thanks Central Florida Railroad Modelers Club. 👍 🛤️🛤️🛤️🛤️ 🟢🟡🔴
Thank you Harold!
I see the train lenght is usually kept at 35 railcars or less.
Very nice, great scenery
Your operation is outstanding!
Awesome.
thanks again
Excellent, well worth the wait.
You have done a really wonderful job with the scenery. The trains look nicely weathered. It looks so realistic I cant even tell you. Amazimg.
I have seen so many layouts on videos i love here in North America & Canada , Each of these i bring to my home & everywhere I travel. Including this clubs layout included. Part 1 here is awesome. Will stand by for part 2. Excellent video oh i love all your models that I just viewed. I gotta get a Citirail engines i especially like the ex- Citirail in CN to. Central Florida Model Railroad Club you got this . Thanks for showing this presentation. ❤👍
I love model trains ever since I was 4 or 5 years old. This layout is totally awesome. ThX for the video.
Glad you enjoyed its
I think you either need a shoving platform for that backing move or at least a brakeman riding the ladder with a radio to his mouth guiding the head end crew. Shoving platform can be a old caboose.
That poor whistle sign, such abuse. Was a reversal move a common feature at US stations to enter the station?
yes it was and still is today. Prime example is Tampa Union Station in Tampa Florida. Amtraks Silver Star backs into that station daily.
My gosh. Remarkable. Truly remarkable. I am speechless.
What a great layout. You have done a beautiful job on every square inch of it. I would normally say "well done" but instead I'll say "amazingly done" I feel as if I am really there living in these times. Thank you for sharing something so beautifully done and it has to be an absolute joy to run your trains on it!! Happy railroading my friend...
Thank you very much! If you ever make it to Orlando, FL, let us know and come by and see us!
@@centralfloridarailroadmodelers Oh wow, I'd love to. I'm actually moving out there sometime early next year and after tearing mine down I'm going to be missing the RR. I'll be coming out there in about 2-3 mos to visit family. I will definitely look you guys up! Thank you.
Get that new baggage car brother
What an incredible realistic looking layout. So glad this popped up. I'm loving the updates. So jealous mine doesn't look this good. Where did you find that last Amtrak Superliner car with the lit up red lights in the back? Could you please post a link for it? I'm always looking to extend my Amtrak. I noticed it at the 13:28 mark of video.
That is a Kato Superliner. The red marker lights are an LED kit from Kato but is sold separately. They also have kits that light up the interior. I dont know if any of these are still available. Just google Kato and check their website. You might also find their cars for sale on Ebay from 3rd party retailers. Bought these cars about 3-4 years ago.
@@centralfloridarailroadmodelers thank you so much. I will look into that.
Excellent video Thanking all the modelers who built this awesome layout and presentations that i enjoy watching as a model Railroader. 👍❤🛤️🛤️
Many thanks!
EOT only cost $20.00 or less on-line and not $2000.00.
inside joke that we keep mentioning...
Veryyyyyyyy cool.I want one 👌🏾
This is a lot of fun but its really distracting seeingall the cars from the 1950’s in the scenes. Dont they make any newer modeling cars?
This was gong to be my observation also.
Time consuming maneuver backing in to Central Station. Certainly adds a bit of fun .
Certainly brings the realism a notch up, no pun intended!
Excellent show realism A 🆗 Always enjoy your models & fleets of CSX locomotives. 👍
Awesome , I love your layout. 👍🛤🛤
I would love to hear the operators talking to dispatch and vice versa.
we can put it in there if you'd like
Nice club layout. I've been watching the various other videos but this is the first time I've seen the complete layout.
I grew up around GT in Michigan, great company, got to see them absorb DT&I too.
Another great video. The concept of a local switcher working the towns is an excellent idea. I wish I had a straight line drawing of both levels of your layout, it would be very helpful in understanding some of the moves. I think I've watched all of your videos and your You Tube and Facebook pages don't show one. Any idea where I can get one?
Well, with that said, I'll get with the crew and see if we can make something to better illustrate the layout in the fashion that you're requesting. We actually have one in each town thats pinned to the side of the layout as a reference for the switch crew. We made sure that our locals put up a challenge for everybody. You really have to think it through to be successful. Thats what we love!
well done as usual
unknown train north, unknown train south, repeat as necessary
Question---does the yard switcher actually classify cars from the 2 trains or does it just "cherry pick" cars for the main line local from the 4 tracks of cars?
for filming sake, we cherry picked on the video. In our actual ops sessions, there are 4 manifests that arrive in Livingston yard throughout the day plus coal trains, and cars are classified and blocked into other trains. Trying to film our actual ops sessions proved to be way too involved and grinded everything to a crawl, so here for our videos we are making I guess you can call it a "simulated" ops session from how it really operates.
@@centralfloridarailroadmodelers Thanks for your reply. I'm trying to figure out the complexities of your operations on your beautiful layout. I'm glad to see a club that actually does operations, not just running trains in circles. Do you have staging tracks?
@@paulbackenstose3384 Our operations are very much involved and complex. This layout was designed for operations and great care was taken to ensure a challenge would always be at hand. Many hours and careful planning were taken to allow a number of scenarios. Trust me, the possibilities are endless with this layout. Spending 10+ hours operating on any given day is common. Yes, we have a hidden staging yard. I do suggest that you watch our layout tour video for footage of the staging yard.
terrific layout
Ooh i like Grand Trunk awesome Locomotives. 👍🛤️🛤️🛤️🛤️
My dad retired from them
Love your layout, but not one of your better videos. Liked the ones where the captions told you what moves the train was making.
Thanks for the tips!
A great series. I notice that Livingstone yard has uncoupling magnets on two tracks. How do the CFRMC operators usually uncouple cars? Cheers Ken😃
nice vid... but UH OH... @ 15:27... they left that switch open
which switch?
@@centralfloridarailroadmodelers the mainline switch that goes to the secondary... they left it open
Hope that poor bugger that fell down the steps at BX tower got rescued. Nice train action.
sustained only minor injuries LOL
Geeps should always have mainline priority, in my opinion
This is wonderfully entertaining. But for me, seeing an English “bobby” in a scene and too many cars from the 1960’s was a distraction. I would update a few of those things.
It’s one of the many challenges being a model railroad club. During our monthly member operating sessions, all of the equipment (locomotives and freight cars) are the club’s equipment that fit the era. Our videos on the channel belong to member who makes these videos solely for the channel. We have tried to film a member operating session but the filming process slows everything to a crawl and just gets in the way.
One busy railroad
It can be.. massive layout with endless possibilities!
I assume the CTC with a Dispatcher handling operation in another part of the building. I always enjoy watching some scale model trains, because it keeps the imagination sharp.
Our dispatcher is located in the corner of the room next to the staging yard. There is footage of the dispatcher in our other videos, check it out when you get a chance!
