  • Industries come and go and the same holds true when it comes to coal. Saratoga Coal Company is no longer in service and all of the lease cars were sent into storage. However the Kelly Creek Coal loadout has a new track plan and a new service plan in mind, so those leased coal cars have been given a new lease on life. Our day starts in Livingston Yard and make a light engine move up to the Ridgeline Subdivision via Rainelle Jct. From there, we make a rare run over to Fisher yard which is a small storage yard in a remote area deep in the mountains of West Virginia. There, we pickup 35 leased coal cars from storage and return to Livingston Yard where a new crew will take over for the run to Kelly's Creek. Those cars will be flood loaded utilizing a new track plan connected to the interchange at CP Diamond and then make use of the reverse loop that was only intended for passenger trains until now. Once loading is complete, we return to Livingston where the coal cars will wait for their turn to be offloaded at Pond Run.
