Japan Demon Drum Performance!
As part of the 2023 Ishikawa Prefecture "Hyakumagoku" Cultural Festival [石川百万石文化祭2023], we went to Wajima, in the Noto Peninusla (far north) of Ishikawa Prefecture to see a performance of several local and other prefectures' different groups. The general theme of this show was the various styles of masked demons/monsters that feature heavily in the Noto Peninusula area of Ishikawa Prefecture, as well as a few other parts of Japan including Akita, Fukui, Aichi, and Nigata prefectures (I didn't film all of them). If you like Japanese drums, you will LOVE this show! #ishikawa , #japan, #japaneseculture , #japanesedrums , #japanesedrum, #japantravel , #japanearthquake

Japan's Humble - But Awesome - Tedori Gorge Waterfall!
Просмотров 272Год назад
A few weeks back we stumbled upon this amazing waterfall right here in Ishikawa Prefecture - it reminded me a bit of Augrabies Falls on the Orange River in South Africa. Not quite as spectacular as Augrabies, but pretty impressive nonetheless! Definitely worth a visit if you are ever in the vicinity of Kanazawa/Hakusan in Ishikawa Prefecture! #foreignerinjapan , #ishikawa , #japan , #japanlife ...
Is This For Real?! Japan's "Nagashi Somen"!
Просмотров 198Год назад
While visiting our friends in Ozuchi-machi up in the mountains, we were treated to a purely Japanese countryside form of entertainment - "Flowing (Somen) Noodles"! 「流し素麺」! This was heaps of fun, not just for Kasumi, but for everyone! What was really incredible about this was that the water literally comes down from the spring, just 100 yards/meters or so away up the hill, so it wasn't like you ...
Nanao Cultural Festival - An Epic Discovery of Japanese "Madara"!
Просмотров 376Год назад
At the end of July we went to a local festival in Nanao, Ishikawa Prefecture, where we discovered the Japanese music and dance of "Madara" [まだら]. Apparently this form of traditional Japanese music originated in Japan's Saga Prefecture (Kyushu Prefecture), and then was brought to other parts of Japan via the shipping trade up and down the coasts of Japan, and in particular along the coast of the...
Indian Dance in a Japan Forest

Traditional Indian "Kathak" dance in Japan indeed! This was a wonderful dance performance by a friend of ours that was part of - of all things - a JAZZ festival [that's Part 2 of the video!] held in the mountain forest in a part of Nakanoto, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan (called Sekidosan). It was so beautiful! #foreignerinjapan , #indiajapan , #indianinjapan , #ishikawa , #japantravel , #japanlif...

I've been in Japan every year since 2012. Mostly around autumn due to Suzuka F1 race beeing in autumn. I've seen Awa Odori. I have not seen these drums. I need to see these drums.

The Awa Dori gets a lot of tourists and media attention, and it is indeed very impressive! However, there are other Matsuri is many places and prefectures across Japan that are just as special and/or unique. This is very much the case in Ishikawa, and indeed the whole Hokuriku region. Definitely come and visit! 👍🏻

Between the Scots and the Japanese, they have the parade paradigm sorted. The Japanese parades are more inclusive though of the whole family, but you haven't lived until you've experienced the Mass Bands at a Scottish Gathering. Now all I need to do is see a Japanese parade on person.

Tokyo is awesome, but the rest of Japan has SOOO much more to offer that is so different from the city. Tokyo is very unique in that way, while the rest of Japan could have you spending many months traveling around to experience all of the many wonderful and diverse places the country and it's various regions has to offer. Do come back!

I wish to know where to view such Geigi entertainment while visiting Kanazawa.

    • @KASUMINaturals
      @KASUMINaturals 10 месяцев назад

Probably the most well known area in Kanazawa for seeing/experiencing a real Geigi performance is Higashi-chaya gai (or simply "Higashi-chaya). This is both the most well-known, and the largest, of three areas in Kanazawa where you can watch and/or take part in Geigi/Geisha performances, the others are "Nishi-chaya" and "Kazue-machi". I should note that "Higashi" literally means "East", while "Nishi" means "West", but they are not at all connected, and in fact the 3rd area can be said to be part of, or at least an extension of, Higashi-chaya, as "Kazue-machi" [Kazue District] is basically across the main street that is the main access point for Higashi-chaya. You go across the street and there are many more shops and small restaurants and such, but the vast majority of tourists (even Japanese tourists) have probably never heard of "Kazue-machi". Lastly, there ARE a few other random places that you can find that have real/legitimate Geigi performances, one of them (that I know well) is called "Inn Kanazawa". It's a little bit off the beaten path and not right in the heart of the main tourist areas, but it is also not that far either. The Geigi who perform there come (mainly) from Highashi-chaya. These performances tend to not be very cheap, I should add, but, it's pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see if you are a tourist coming to Kanazawa, and I highly recommend!
