actually not much rust at all
Hey mate, apart from the drivers floor, it's remarkably good for a 50 yo italian car haha
G'day great video mate
Thanks for the support!
G'day amazing work mate
Thanks for the support!
Thanks, getting there slowly.
Very nice.
Thanks for the support!
Bday love your work, have you looked into using a bead rolls to run along the edge of the depressions in the floor plan and then hammer the lower curves into shape
Hey mate, that was an idea however I think hammering in the lower curves after the "depressions" would distort them too much. It would be trying to shrink the sides of the depressions while stretching the curves. Not sure if that makes sense or not haha.
Hey man, don't how this came up in my feed, but I've just binged the first 7 episodes. Impressed with your skill set and approach. When I was much younger I also lusted after 124S, a Lancia Beta or a Renault Feugo. Keep going, I'm invested now - subscribed too.
Hey mate, thanks for the support. The earlier episode were more of a video diary of what I'd been doing off camera. The more recent episodes are alot more about documenting the actual process. 60s early 70s is my sweet spot for car haha.
Brilliant....I've two of these in different stages....what I thought was the best car turned out to be poorer than my race version. Knowing how to separate these panels is just brilliant.
Thanks! Glad I could help.
Very, very clever. It looks like your buck’s made of MDF (Edward Woodward wood). If so, I hope you wore a mask, as that shit’s apparently pretty bad for you.
Hey mate, yep mdf. I made sure to always have the mask on coz that dust is supper fine.
A true labour of love! Leaves me wondering what fun you are going to have with that Twin Cam!
Thanks! The twin cam will be getting a full rebuild and upgrade in future episodes, so it will be quite a spicy little coupe!
Hi, I've just binged all your videos right from the beginning. What a journey! Your skills have just come on in leaps and bounds, superb work. I see you have the support of the master (GT1900 Garage), he is also doing a wonderful job. Trust me, thee are many professionals here in the UK not doing as good a job as you are. Looking forward to all your future content, thank you for sharing your project with us.
Hey mate, thanks for the support! It videos were very basic back in the beginning haha more of a video diary style. Since then it's slowly morphed into showing the whole process. Gt1900 is definitely the master. I get alot of inspiration from him. Unfortunately now days it's often too expensive to do things the right way when it comes to car restoration, unless you do it yourself.
Such a great series! Great work
Thanks for the support!
@ it’s a inspiration to get going on my own rusty barges…
Nice 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Thanks mate.
Why not take a plaster cast if you went that elaborate ? Great work though .
Could have tried that, though not sure how the plaster would hold up with the air hammer pummeling it.
@@FISHERBUILTMore so just to make a copy of the floor then use another material to use as a buck .
While you are at it reinforce the fire wall where the pedals and brake booster are as they will crack . Very nice work again .
Hey mate, already cracked unfortunately ha I'll be tackling that little gem of an area in a future ep.
Admire your attention to detail, but cant you get replacement floor pans for a spider out of the US/Europe? then again im not sure if they're the same / similar to the coupe
Hey mate, I did have that thought initially, however the Spider floors are quite a bit different to the coupes. Maybe something to do with them being "roofless" and requiring a more rigid floor, just a guess.
Your attention to detail is too good, I fixed the rust in my floor pan from the metal of another bonnet and just welded it in at whatever shap is was. 😃This was when I was 21 , a 100 years ago 🤣🤣🤣 Nice work ! Sell me the car when its finished . I'll give you whatever you want for it ! Yes I know its not for sale 😛
Thanks mate! My mission is to get all the bodywork as close to factory as possible. Nothing wrong with using a bonnet as a floor if it gets the job done and you avoid a Flintstones situation haha Not sure if I'll be selling this first one in a hurry 😂 If all goes to plan, this is the first of many more builds.
They are some really first class looking repairs. None of your work is boring to watch - it's all problem solving and confidence building. I am using a 93% zinc coating wherever possible in these areas (Bilt Hamber Electrox is my choice here in the UK).
Hey, thanks for the support, it really helps keep the motivation up! I've made sure to coat everything and the whole car will be cavity waxed after paint.
Great stuff. Inspiring me to start tackling my '72 coupe
You should definitely jump into it! Are you planning a full restoration?
@@FISHERBUILT Yes full resto. (luckily my starting coupe is in better shape with straight frame rails ...lol) There is some accident damage in the rear, so your rear lower quarter work is super useful.
It's nice to hear the back story on it even so picking a fiat you must like a challenge LOL
Glad you enjoyed it! This definitely wasn't the easiest first restoration project to tackle. All the hurdles will make it that much sweeter when it's finish.
And so you should be happy that turned out great.
Thanks, this was the 3rd attempt from memory. I've learned alot since then haha
came out nice did that well done
Thasnk mate, definitely alot better than the rusted out section that I cut out.
Nice work!
Thanks mate. We're getting there slowly.
It’s looking great! And it’s never dull watching you work.
Thanks for the support. I'll keep making the videos if you guys keep watching!
Great works, great patience, and great result! My 2bits worth, Please anti rust EVERYTHING inside and out, make her last 100years !! Never sell her, I've had several and wish I still had the last one! That era of Motoring was the BEST my 2 door Valiant was my other best car and I wouldn't have parted with either of them, except for conditions beyond my control. Good luck, and Bravissimo !
Hey thanks for the support and comment. It's always sad when circumstances require you to sell a loved car but hopefully enables you to recreate it later in life.
If enthusiasm, patience and stamina pair with constantly progressing skills, the result will be a dream car whose value is beyond price.
Thanks for the support mate. All the encouraging comments keep me motivated so you guys are the ones keeping this build ticking over.
You're really progressing with your skills, nice episode!
Thanks! It's been a pretty steep learning curve but loving the journey.
Fantastic work bringing this classic back to life.. I cannot understand why you don't have more subscribers! ... (greetings from Ireland btw😊)
Thanks for the support from Ireland! Not sure if they're a true classic but I love the 124 coupe haha
Nice work, just keep on doing your thing.👍👍👍😎😎😎
Thanks mate, slowly getting there.
Fisher built - FIAT hero 🙂
Thanks for the support!
Brilliant work - from “never welded before” to making expert repairs gives us all a what we need - confidence! Thanks again.
Thanks mate, hours of welding is great practice haha
Agreed. Learning by making. I really like these channels more than over produced expert channels...
G'day awesome work and video mate
Thanks mate, I always appreciate the comments.
Nice, your commitment to doing it right is amazing.good video, just keep doing what you do best.be safe 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Thanks for the support! For me, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.
I love it when one of your videos drops! Great work, yet again. It’s going to be a fabulous car when it’s done.
Thanks mate, slowly getting closer. Now that most of the rust holes are done, it will start progressing alot quicker.
You have to fill in the holes on the parcel shelf where the speakers are as it will not pass road worthy .
Indeed, it's on the list.
Somehow my RUclips homepage missed this video, been wondering whats going on in your garage.. Well I'm up to date now , thanks! Now that was again very meticulously done patch panel. Always a pleasure to watch...
Great content, and a fantastic car. Thank you sir.
Thanks mate, it's slowly coming along.
Learnt a lot there - thanks
Thanks mate! Glad I could help.
Thanks for sharing all your learning. Really very helpful.
Thank you for watching!, though I'm not sure the way I do things is the right way, it's just the way I find works for me.
A welder said to me when looking at my knackered Fiat, "It's only metal". You've made the case brilliantly that with a positive attitude, some attention to detail and some very basic tools, most things are repairable. Thanks for sharing your process and learning. Love your workshop footwear too! 😆
Haha, much protection with that footwear but alot cooler than boots on a hot day.
Wow. I have a heap of an Fiat 850 coupe with rot in the A pillars on and off from the roof down to the sills and this video gives me hope I can repair it. Thanks very much!!
Hey mate, everything is fixable with enough time ,effort.....and patience. Glad the video help provide inspiration!
where you been maaaate ?, Im dying to restore a 124 AC !!!
Hey mate, have been a bit slow on the upload lately. As I finish up the bulk of the metalwork and move onto engine rebuild, wiring harness etc the frequency of uploads will increase. I'd love to do an AC next. If a good one pops up I,d been tempted. Thanks for the support!
Equally impressed and entertained - as always 🙂
Thanks for the support, glad you're enjoying the build.
Very nice, just keep doing it the way you think is best.I had a 70 124 sport coupe,British racing green and black vinyl top with black vinyl interior, was a nice car until little old lady broadsided me and pushed me into the side of a building.miss that car, mechanical never let me pass up the chance to visit my fiat tech.great old overhead valve motor and 5 speed, which really loved the fiat tech.just keep on doing what you do best.be safe.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Hey, thanks for the support. Shame about the green machine, these 124s are getting pretty rare now days. All old Italian sports cars love spending time at the mechanics shop haha My goal is to learn as much as i can during the engine rebuild process so i can do most/all of the mechanics maintenance myself. Thanks again for watching!
I’ve been looking forward to your next (this) video and wasn’t disappointed by what you’ve presented. Really, really great work!
Thanks mate, i feel bad for having such long delays getting videos out. I do a fair bit of work off the camera and i didnt want to just upload videos every 2 weeks showing the same content. I'll be all finished with the body work soon so the content will be more engine rebuild and wiring. These should be more frequent. Thanks again for the support.
SEAL every BIT OF HER! Totally waterproof. Keep her in a good dry place, when you are 70, that will be the retirement age by then ;) THEN give her a final polish and put her up for auction, be sure to use a New speedo, set for 2000 miles! I bet you'll be able to take several world cruises with the proceeds! :)
Hey, thanks for the support! Im trying to make sure everything is done right and prevented from future rust. Once finished, this car will get all the love. Thanks for watching!
Looking forward for a next episode....any progress lately?
Hey mate, loved your latest video! I've been busy repairing other areas. Hopefully the next episode will be up this week! Too many holidays and not enough time in the garage!
You can drill those upside down spot welds right through, put a bit of copper under them and weld from the top. Can be easier sometimes.
Hey, thanks for the comment. I have done this in other places and probably should have used that approach here.
Great work, always enjoy your videos.
Thanks! As long as people like watching, ill keep uploading :)
Very nice, just keep doing what you do and carry on.be safe 👍👍👍😎😎😎
I don’t seem to be able to comment via the main section but wanted to say how much I enjoy these videos. Your work is excellent, as are your video skills. Your channel isn’t flashy but it’s great to watch you transforming the car.
Thanks mate, keep on keeping on!
Thanks mate, it's comments like this and viewers like yourself that keep me uploading, so thank you.
I would be taking a good look up the rear of the inner and outer rear wheel arch as rust knows how to get in between the two panel joins .
Hey mate, definitely. I'll probably go in through the inner arch.
