If you haven’t done your inner rear arches it will fail it’s MOT as it’s part of the structural strength of the car .they must be tied together. Also if you have replaced your sills temporarily fit the doors and offer up the side skirts and check they are not rubbing on the bottom of the doors. The after market sills can sit to high causing the bottom of the door to rub on the skirt where it passes under the the door

Wise move stripping that front end dude , they’ve so often been battered from stone chips and who knows what at that age ! but the lengths you’ve gone to with the rest of it it’s the right way to do it ..looking good it’s come a long way 👍

Get your selth a air finger sander mate.good for geting them bits of paint of that are hard to get to.

Try Dinitrol RC900 rust treatment, it comes in a spray can. The best by a mile

It’s actually not to bad considering age, I owned a black fiesta rs turbo J341 XRS I’m sure the reg was in 2000/2001 and I had to do a hell of a lot of welding to that even though at the time was roughly only 10yrs old.

Green injectors and a big turbo ... must go like a cat with the tail on fire!

Iv been doing this on a mk1 focus rs over last 5 years, will b finished for end of year hopefully.

Just an idea for you. Ive just finised and got mine back on the road. Rather then using rivits for the kit ive used rubber well nuts. The aluminium into steel actually causes more rust. You can get them with a small allen bolt head and they look just like rivet. Keep up the good work.

Little tip for spraying wax oil, don't thin it down, place your container in boiling water and do the job on a hot sunny day, did my car in 1991 and I still have it today!

For underneath I use black direct to rust hammerite.

I domt know why anyone would want to spend all that effort plus money trying to restore a pretty crap car even when they were new!

Black Raptor for underneath, really hard wearing, the colour match Raptor is a bit off so either stone chip and spray over with the red or keep it black, personal preference really

She is in amazing condition,much better than the one I’m restoring . Did you not fit new inner arches as you have got part of your outer wheel arch missing under the filler hole which is part of the inner wheel arch repair panel and also on the inside of the wheel arch along the flange it’s not joined to outer wheel arch , (double flanged)where the holes are for the kit. Not sure how you can sort it now , but you need to do something or there will be water ingress and probably body flex. Sorry

Love the project! My first car was a mk3 fez in radiant red, so I would definitely say paint the repairs red as cost-effectively as possible.

400 or 500 on the inside then just 2k direct gloss, job done

When you paint the outside, dont mask up the door holes and let the red drift inside. Its all they get from factory. I have a white one thats just been finished, if they are ever finished, good to see another being kept alive.

Well that looked a good shell as ford rot like mad I've done plenty over the years so it wasn't alot of welded them fiestas turbo's are quick but used to skip about when drove hard I wouldn't worry about painting it at you can't see I would paint the floor with black paint even brushed to stop it rusting again like you said no body going to see it but it's your choice mate 👍

Rattlecan FTW! Decent enough for peace of mind knowing it's all red underneath, but quick & cheap enough in terms of cost/results.

Sand Blast then Lead wipe it if you have time mate.

Quick 400 sand then a quick spot of paint for the inside mate.
