Drift Busting the Iowa Interstate! Nonstop RS3L!
On an incredibly frigid night following an onslaught of snowfall, the roads had been clear but the railroads needed to get up to speed. With IAIS 9511 on the point, a modified gondola with a plow attached to it, X-CBSA made it's way across the system to clear the rails. This video follows them at a handful of spots between Booneville and South Amana Iowa.

BSVR 8419, a 2-8-2 built in China was recently brought back into service after a 7 year long wait, the shop crew at the Boone and Scenic Valley did a fantastic job in bringing the engine back into service in a timely manner to run for multiple weekends in a row. Well they did. 6988 was sold about two years ago to the Railroading Heritage Society of Midwest America for preservation.

Where I live we don't have train horns anymore. The sound upsets the rich people and their kids. I would hate to be that delicate, those trains used to put me to sleep. I have not had a good nights sleep in years! I really miss them. I would like to move away from here but the obama years ruined the housing market in my area. So I am stuck here for the rest of my life. The place is to run down now. bidenomics has sealed that fate.

Must have one hell of an air supply, or a massive air compressor. The horn is doing as much or more work than the plow. I know, its all safety related.
Very big air compressor. It's meant to run the brakes for a while train, so running the horn should be easy, even though it does take a lot of air.

Everyone comments but no one asks why in hell he continuously blasts the horns. Even after he passes the crossings. Seems kinda pointless.

Crews were instructed to blow whenever hitting drifts to prevent the horn clogging up with snow
@@MBTrains1205 Also, the engineer's forward vision is severely restricted by that style plow. It seems reasonable for the crew to err on the side of safety.
I'd say the above two comments are correct. I have heard the clogging the horn up issue before. You'll notice that he let's off the horn as soon as the engine clears the cloud of snow.
He probably letting his boy toot the horn while his snacking 😂

@IanHotson A lot more than you probably. Besides, the engineer on that train is one of my best friends, so I give him a hard time about blowing horns.

Tell him to stop draining the air tank and making the air compressor run nonstop
Sometimes, they do that to make sure that the horn does not plug from all the snow.
