we miss you, Ron
I love these so much
I enjoyed listening to this.
Epic! 0:43
God bless you Don. You were the best.
The last untamed rock station. May the spirit of KZEW reside in all who remember.
I miss Dick Bartley. So many Sundays listening to his show. Sad he retired. ❤
What's that song that started at 3:32?
Once in a While - Johnny Mathis
I could watch these old videos/listen to the old sound bites of kidd all day long… he was so much a part of my adolescence and early adulthood. After he died my mom said to me “I don’t understand why this is such a big deal to you… you never met the guy”. Hard to explain to anyone what a significant role he played in my life (and the lives of so many others that he also never met). We laughed with kidd and cried with Kidd. We got his inside jokes. He was a constant in my life while so many things were changing. Yes mom… it is a big deal that kidd died. It is still one of the biggest losses I’ve experienced. Kidd, the world is even crazier than when you left us. Listening to these old sound bites is comforting… a reminder of a more innocent and simpler time.

WCBS FM 101.1 was my station from the late 70s when I got my license and my Dad let me use his car on the weekends and then in 1981 when I got my own car. Mom’s car only had an AM radio and she wouldn’t let me put a stereo in it lol. Before WCBS I used to listen to WABC 77 AM especially Dan Ingrahm. Both played the best music EVER! I left the NYC area in 2013 for Texas and don’t know what WCBS is playing now. Unfortunately I’m in Austin Texas with the WORST music and radio stations I’ve ever experienced in my 62 years of life! I miss these oldies and the Disc Jockeys.
What is that song between 7:31 & 8:12?
“ Don’t forget me when I’m gone” by Glass Tiger.
We still miss you Ron !
Would you happen to have any News 8 Daybreak broadcasts from 1997?
I don’t believe I have any.

Stellar! A magical time, r & r was still kind of new. Everything was so exciting, the concerts, festivals- it was all festive! Lots of people had flutes, tambourines & bells that they played at parks, drum circles & on the Boulevard. Sunset Boulevard. ❤ I had bells on my anklet.
These broadcasts were the soundtrack of my life. Everyone in L.A. had their radios set to KHJ. you could hear it from cars. & my transistor radio❤
More KZEW stuff please!

Brings back so many memories. This was the official music in my house growing up, thanks to my Dad. Road trips, projects in the basement or garage. Concerts on the beach. Either live on the radio or recorded on a cassette strait from the top 500 countdown. Plus watching Sha na na, Happy Days. Musically my house was a time capsule. I loved it then, and look back and love it even more now. What a genre!
Don K Reed, Mr. Music Norman Knight, Cousin Brucie, Harry Harrision, Jack Spector, Ron Londie, Max Kinkle. I remember them and the music. I also remember all the WMCA Good Guys.
Wish I had a Good Guy sweatshirt!
Now this is the CBS FM i remember, i used to record this station all the time on my cassettes trying to make mixtapes, now i dont like this station as much, i like 80s music (i was born in the early 80s) but the songs they play are too repetitive! Like they play "Eye of the Tiger" like 20 times every day!
I miss you brother RIP Don K. Reed
Keep posting
March 24, 1988 was my 6th birthday...I was living in Irving at the time. My uncle Carl had married my aunt Joanne in '88, the Mavericks were one win away from the NBA Finals, and Tom Landry would finish his 29th and final season with the Cowboys at 3-13. Oh, the 80s and 90s...how I miss thee.
Ron was a morning radio staple and is sorely missed.
I miss The Doo-Wop Shop! I miss the CBSFM I grew up with!
