Great video, feeling nostalgic about cassette players. Looking forward to more videos! 😊
@@auguststar77 Thanks mate! There definitely will be more :) Cheers
I had the same model once, I bought it from a friend and used it for awhile, compared to other Aiwa's I dont think the audio playback from the head was very good or misaligned so I ended up selling it and moving on. Loved the design of it though.
@@AvidRetro agree, this one not even play very nice, but it also have very nice design. Cheers mate!

Magic!
Nice job!❤
What sort Electrical person do you look to repair a vintage Walkman?
Love your red pliers and relaxing music :) I still have some to fix, I cannot source the small caps, they are hard to find in the right dimensions...
@@AvidRetro Hi mate! Thank you! I strongly suggest to use mouser or digikey for searching right dimensions capacitors. I use these sources :) Cheers
Hello friend, I want to ask you, where can I find these smd capacitors or what can I replace them with, because I can't find them on AliExpress either: 220uF 4v, 220uF 2v, 100uF 2v? Thanks in advance!
Hi mate! Dont buy them from aliexpress- i have done already video about how bad they are. I suggest to use 4v or even 6,3v capacitors instead of 2v. To get as best possible fit please use mouser or digikey and search them there by capacity and dimensions. Cheers
@LT.tapeheads.service OK, thank you very much. You help a lot of people with your videos. Best regards.
No problem! Thank you 🙏 i hope that those videos are helpful, because from my experience every repair is always different in some or other way and i show only those issues that i find 🙂 Cheers!
Congratulations! You are great!

Can you repair Jensen walkman
Hi Can you repair Jensen walkman ? Can u reply plz
Hi Probably yes, but since this brand devices are very cheap it will not be practical to repair it. Cheers
Thank you for uploading the video. I repaired AIWA RX626 and RX703 a while ago, and it was interesting to see that the deck and board were almost the same. I look forward to the next video.
Thank you! 🙏 Cheers
Hello. I have a refurbished PX30. The sound of it is too sweet and artificial ? compares to other models. Is it normal?
Hi, if you have used right capacitors and done very good cleaning of pcb, set correct azimuth and other things, then you have to get very natural analog sound from it. I must say that everyone have their own opinion about sound and what they are hearing :) compared to all other models imo it is the best sounding device :) Cheers
Another excellent repair that did challenge you. But, you came across as unphased by it. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you mate for your support and for your very nice comments! Cheers
Your customers are obsessed with aiwa😂🎉🎉
😅 what can i say mate, they have good taste to portables 😊
Great job mate! Thx for sharing your skills!
Thank you mate! 😊 Cheers
Magic!❤
You are right, it did take Magic to repair this transport. It was in so much of a state and the amount of oil. I bet it wasn't even proper electric light motor oil. I am in awe of you work on every video. well done and thanks for sharing with us.
As always thank you for your support mate! This one was a bit challenging, but in the end everything was fine with it, i hope customer will love to get his device back from “grave”. Cheers mate!
Sorry you had such a bad experience, I too have been scammed in the past. It's not nice. But thank you for the video, you've made other people be more aware.
Thank you mate! I hope everyone will be more aware. Cheers!
Nice work on this beautiful deck 👍
Thank you! 🙏 Cheers
I think that all operations can be applied to the older series GX-F 31 to 91. An instructive and detailed video. If it is necessary to change the Cam (eject and load) motor, what is the best option you recommend? Thank you
Thanks! 🙏 well i would use callipers and would search motor that have very close dimensions to original one and also the same spacing between those threads for screws. From my experience i can tell you that 99 % those motors can be repaired. Cheers!
... I must say, I'm in amazement with how you worked wonders on a tape transport that was messed up to begin with, and you were not only willing to work on it (where most would refuse to...) but you were able to bring it back to life! :-) Congrats!
Thank you 🙏 sometimes i think i must help and this customer was very kind, also told me history how he got this device and how special it is for him - at that moment i said for myself that i just must help him :) Cheers!
Very good and detailed job. Greetings from Greece. I will prefer the background music a little quiter if is possible. Thank you.
Thank you! And i thought it is already very quiet :) Cheers
Good video as per norm! :) hope you are well. and have a good weekend

Hello, i have Akai GX-65 what i can do to fix the counter, the seconds pass by faster, so when i play 30min cassette, the counter on the end shows 20min. Thank you!
Hi 👋 I suggest to check electronic part of tape counter. You have to use service manual for this. Cheers
@LT.tapeheads.service Thank you very much!
I have no words. Did someone throw this down a flight of stairs?
This was prior attempt of person that have tried to service this deck for the first time 🙃
I see. I won’t be too hard on him then - I made plenty of mistakes too when I was starting out. Still do.
@Oklawolf I was not mad at him too. i am sure in any case he learned something new about those tapetransports - for me it was challenging repair, but i like those decks a lot and also that history of how customer got this device in early 90s… :) I hope he will be very happy using his deck again :)
He will probably put it up for sale again. Hopefully I don’t buy it…
100 % he will do that… Cheers
Yes man. I understand your feelings perfectly. I recently bought an Aiwa HS-T65 on the Internet. The seller's description is that everything is just perfect. But in fact, the device has a lot of problems.
Thank you! 🙏 what is worst that maybe device was not so damaged before seller shipped it… otherwise i now recommend to everyone that (even devices for parts and repair) would ask seller to test device with batteries, because in this scenario shipping fees would be saved- means less CO2. Cheers
Scammers suck. My RS-B755 came like that. The seller said he would refund some money but never did... I'm glad you're able to get some resolution to this.
Yeah mate, i have not included full unboxing in video, just because you know - lots of bad words were going out of me… it was nice device, but it was not packed carefully and of course all those lies… thank you for your kindness! Cheers
And thank you for your support over on my channel - not everyone is as nice as you are. eBay is pretty good about refunds if they recognize you got scammed. I'm sure they'll help you get your money back.
@ No problem mate, i like your videos and see your progress in getting more and more experience in repairing all of those devices. Cheers!
Damn Shame ! Hopefully you will get a refund
I got return shipping label, so maybe i will get back my money… i hope… 🤞 cheers
I have one. Batteries overflowed and it has disconnected cables. Can you repair it?
Hi, i can repair, but probably price won’t be practical. Cheers
very nice channel
Thank you! 🙏 i really appreciate that! Cheers
Whats the exact description of those 100 Caps you use ?
What do you mean exactly? Cheers
@LT.tapeheads.service hi there, I just saw that you already listed the description of the capacitors you used in the repair. Thank you for that🤝
I have a another question though. According to the color of the capacitors you used, it seems you used some polymer ones instead of electrolyte ones? I always assumed the polymer ones would lead to higher energy consumption in stand by mode?
@@christailor9096i use them only where very small space you have and need more capacity than standard electrolytic ones can provide and better esr. Also if you notice i use them mostly in audio path, not in psu :) i can confirm that devices doesn’t get power hungry because of them ;) Cheers
Thank you for the great explanation 👍
Thank you for the magical work video. I also pressed like and subscribe. I am currently repairing AIWA HS-J505. I will refer to the video you uploaded a lot.
Thank you, i really appreciate that! 🙏 regarding your j505 there is video e0022 that can a bit be helpful. Cheers!
I enjoy watching your videos. Magic indeed. I have a SHARP JC-K70 and I want to get it working, but I can't find the service manual for it. I also searched on Ebay. Any idea where I could get one? Thank you!
Thank you! 🙏 i have checked my sources and didn’t find service manual for your mentioned device too. You can also ask for service manual in stereo2go forum, maybe someone have… Cheers!
Can you make a video on using tantalum instead of electrolitics one?
As i said earlier in other video, i have tried that already and in my case sound was not as good as with electrolyte capacitors, this must be related to different frequency characteristics that tantalums have. There are some videos of tantalums vs electrolyte capacitors where measurements are done in different frequencies. Cheers!
Totally agree, this device unlike n10 or some others have mini usb port and easy findable gumstick battery, than some proprietary usb cable or hard to find lithium battery. If i remember correctly that thing should be under display menu options. Cheers!
Hi. I have an HS-PX505 which is aesthetically perfect and with the box too. Few years ago I tried to turn it on but I heard loads of noises (RF disturbance I believe). In these days I tried again, noticed loss of electrolites from SMD capacitor and recapped. Between trial and errors the failure was motor ok but loads of mooing and low-frequency noises which varied turning knobs/sliders and toggled switches. To cut a long story short I'm close to success: the logic starts, I hear the beeps when I press the keys but the motor does not start. Belt is perfect, when I rotate the wheels there's no skidding... What should I check then? Thanks
@@paolozanellati2120 Hi, its very hard to to tell you where to start checking… I suggest to get service manual and check if logic ic is giving some voltage into motor ON pin. Also check all your soldering on that flex wire that goes into motor/tape transport, then check flex cable itself if you have not damaged it and so on and so forth… we will not fix devices like that, because for example if you get check engine light on your car this can mean lots of things, there we have the same :) Cheers!
@@LT.tapeheads.service Hi, I've checked solders and cable and they're ok. About logic outputs it's a bit tricky because the motor controller chip are on the opposite side of what is visible once the board is mounted. It must be fit because there's an optical tx-rx that checks if the tape is running, if i unmount the board the play is very short. Also, there's no solenoid noise and i remember it was... I have to say that the leak was very close to the transistor that drives the solenoid. Solenoid resistance is ok (50ohms) and cables too... I was able to get the manual though, but there's very little troubleshooting tips...
@@paolozanellati2120i was talking about logic ic not motor ic that is near motor. I would check double transistor package that is connected to logic ic “motor on” pin and will monitor motor flex cable “motor on/off” pin. In any way i don’t think that comments will be helpful since there can be too much issues that could cause issue. Cheers!
shame, why would seller sell such a broken thing. just put it up for parts and be honest
That was not very nice experience as i remember…
so nice to see your thoughts and process, although i wish i could see the ic chip replacement. however it is more advanced solder technique so i understand why you didn't show.
Thank you! 🙏 well that chip change is super simple thats why i didn’t make video about it :) next time definitely will as i see interest :) Cheers!
@ do you know what chip or where to get one? I need to fix mine as I did reverse polarity in a rush to power the unit.
@@radiospanki use only original sony chips, this time i took it from dd11 since it have the same chip. There are optionsz in ebay, but i think all of them are fake and will not work or will not last long. Cheers
@ ugh yea heard that advice, problem is buying a used for parts Walkman is as much as what I paid. Also when they list for parts how do I know the chip isn’t damaged
@ yes its not that easy, but possible to get one from cheap damaged sony substitute… you can always ask seller, but there is always risk that you may have to take or not :)
Вітаю! а замість smd конденсаторів можна використовувати танталові конденсатори? Так як вони маленькі і добре розміщуються куди завгодно , або їх не можна використовувати ?
Hi, i have tried tantalum capacitors, but their frequency characteristics are a bit different from electrolytic ones, because of this tantalums add some their “taste” to outputs - i am not a fan of that sound, thats why i use electrolytic capacitors. Cheers!
I really enjoyed watching you diagnose the issue with this unit. Plus you shared diagrams and your thinking with us. I know it was a challenge for you, but I'm sure you will have learnt something from it. No matter how old we get (I'm 64) there's always opportunities to learn. Thank you for not missing things out, It was a great episode.
Hi mate! Thanks for your support and also for such a nice feedback! As i said in one facebook group about walkmans and was banned because of that and because i provided these videos - fixing devices is a learning process, we don’t have to be afraid to fail, because in the end we will finally succeed. Thank you mate! Cheers!
в цьому плеєрі дуже крутий звук , не знаю яка там головка , но звук просто бомба !
This device have hard permalloy HX (aiwa w shaped) head. Those heads are superb 👌
I admire your patience on this one. I'd have condemned it for parts the second I saw that much corrosion.
Oh yes mate, there was a few moments when I thought to just disassemble it for parts :) but it was a good challenge in the end…
Brilliant bit of trouble shooting. I can only imagine how you felt during it. I bet you wanted to rip your hair out with frustration lol but well done and good perciverance
Thank you mate! I was so frustrated at one time, but then some little going for a walk helped a lot 😅
