I find using waxed floss as thread works so much better than the wire, you can get the center really tight. I use floss with all the bows I make

I have been looking for a way to use my husbands shirts. This is wonderful and easy!! My husband passed away 5 yrs ago but everything has been in storage l let my 8 grandkids pick a shirt that liked to see their grampa in and that will be their pillow. I did order the tags from Etsy. If you want an even easier “lazier way you could already turn it inside out when you cut it, that way all you have to do is take the pins off of the pattern and slip it back into the shirt to start sewing

I think i have been hesitant to do this myself because I’m worried I’d mess up even tho I have been sewing for well over 35 yrs lol if I mess up I don’t have anymore of My dad or moms Shirts I would absolutely just cry my eyes out probably for days or even months I absolutely love the snap idea what a clever idea tht never even crossed my mind!! But my granddaughter picked a beautiful dressy crewneck sweatshirt my mom wore quite often in fall & winter it has some laces mop on the shoulder are and she told me to make sure if I don’t make it tht whoever does it keeps the lace part on it I kind of snickered think ok I’m sure Shelley knows how to do tht cuz I’m like looking at it goin nope no way no how is tht gonna work lol I still look at goin uh nope can’t be done or at least I won’t get it right 😂 .. now since I gave in and am gonna do this myself how in the world can I make this work for her I think she deeply wants it left b cause she would always play with them when mom was around her it was probably her favorite shirt of mamas (mamaw) I might just give it to Shelley and let her since she made so many of these memory pillows lol Mths

I have tried using the contact sticky shelf liner from the dollar store to lay down on the mat first then laying down the fabric onto the sticky liner. It works great to keep your mat clean. However, if you are using some thing like a tight design that has sliver cuts, then you have to work a little harder to remove the shelf liner from the mat, but I still think it is totally worth it.

I dont have a sewing machine so would have to hand stitch. I literally cried watching this because I have my son's shirt that looks similar to this one. He wore it when he took me to eat last Mother's Day. He died unexpectedly a few months later on Nov 8, 2023. Age 29 😢 Do you know if there is a way to get a photo turned into an iron on transfer? I have a selfie that we took together on that day and would love to have the photo on the pillow.

Looking for a tutorial to make quilting stencils on my cricut machine for machine quilting (example like a stimpling template)

If you know the size of the square unfinished then you can do a grid pattern as you have done, but instead of separate squares just do a huge square with lines all the way down & across with no gaps. It saves fabric & lots of time. Like cutting brownies in a pan. Easier to set up too. Also use transfer tape on mat (mat is sticky & holds transfer tape) then peel up paper so sticky part is exposed, place fabric on transfer tape. Keeps mat clean & sticky longer.
