Flying Vii build - A Theremin Update
Просмотров 832 месяца назад
In the last video, I had a working theremin. Over the last few months, I have been testing the theremin with a bass guitar. I encountered a strange problem when the electric bass and theremin were simultaneously being played (just a fuzzy noise). That, in turn, sent me searching the Internet for an answer. Along this journey down this extremely deep rabbit hole, I picked up two books and acquir...

Flying Vii build - Optical Theremin test 1
Просмотров 1155 месяцев назад
Finally, here is a video of the working optical theremin!! It now has a properly functioning volume, modulation control pots, and an on/off switch. The output is currently handled by a guitar-grade 1/4-inch jack. This is all powered up by a 9-volt battery. The sound test went well this time around (I even included the complete test as I was hearing it for the first time!!) While it was not the ...

Flying V build - Day 4
Просмотров 745 месяцев назад
Here is a short video from day 4 of Tim's Flying V build. With some luck, I located my old Steinberg UR22 USB interface. It produces more overall gain than my broadcast mixer does. So I connected everything and booted up the computer. With that out of the way, the interface was powered up as the tests began. Unfortunately, even with the added gain, all I could get from it was the sound of the p...
Flying V build - Day 3
Просмотров 386 месяцев назад
Here is a video from day 3 of Tim's custom Flying V build. This is the third attempt at building a working Theremin circuit. Now armed with a better-quality 24 gauge wire, I soldered the wire to all components and then to the circuit board. I also installed the 555 timer chip along with the light-sensitive triggers. After installing everything and checking for weak solder connections, I connect...
Flying V build - Day 2

Here is a video from day 2 of Tim's Flying Vii. Part of the guitar vision was to include a theremin circuit on board the guitar. My first attempt failed, but I had 2 additional kits. So I started over with a new circuit board. I installed the capacitors and resistor, along with the 8-pin connector for the 555 timer. I moved on to the leads and components. I was almost finished, and the same pro...
Flying VII build - Day 1
Просмотров 356 месяцев назад
Here is a video on the 7-string Flying VII (Roman numeral 7!!) that I am building for Tim Steinruck. Today started with some unsoldering of the Theremin circuit. I trimmed the wires and tinned them. When I went to solder the first of many wires, it seemed some solder was left in the pads on the circuit board. I tried a few different ways to clear the solder blockage, but nothing worked. So, I w...
The Theremin build
Просмотров 1487 месяцев назад
Part of Tim's Flying V build was to incorporate an onboard theremin. This is the first attempt to build a working prototype from an existing electronics kit. The optical theremin uses a pair of light-sensitive diodes as the triggers. I had some difficulty with some lead wires soldering correctly to the circuit board. But it was finally completed. Testing ...Well, that was another thing altogeth...
Flying V build - The Unboxing
Просмотров 988 месяцев назад
Here is an unboxing video of the new guitar project. This is a 7-string Flying V that I will be building for Tim Steinruck The plan is to route the control cavity out a bit, making room for the optical theremin. I will be upgrading the hardware with some Grover Rotomatic tuners and Seymour Duncan's Jupiter pickups, with the bridge from either Hipshot or Schaller. The planned color is one they c...

Iceman build - Day 45 (The Final Day)
AWESOME
Thank you!!
Awesome Fixed Blade Fighter! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Thank you!!
Your Ontario M-3 Trench Knife is sweet. I have the Camillus M-3 Trench Knife, that I bought brand new back in the day. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Camillus M-3 Trench Knife is a very cool knife indeed!!
I like the Ka-Bar, WWII Field Knife better than the Case Model shown. Great Collection! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Thank for checking it out!!
That Case looks like a Friday afternoon KaBar 😮.
Camillus was the one who made it first.
Thanks for the info, Dave!!
An excellent bunch of blades!
Thank you!!
I got leather handle to thick. Mine was dull
Which blade?
@@danmontgomery. Case xx usmc
VERY NICE!!!!
Thank you!!
Can’t wait to take this thing for a RIDE!!
We will see who lands on Mars first!! Tim or Elon hahaha.

❤That is absolutely EPIC!!!
🤘💀🤘
Sweet
Thank you!!
thanks !!!!!!!!!!!
But it looks good hanging out on a wall
Indeed
Dual edge??and a sub hilt no thanks I can't use it
I didn't see much use in it either. It's more of a blade for my collection.
Cold Steel knives are ready for a Apocalyptic War and they'd be still ready to use
🧟♂ (that is supposed to be a zombie ... hahaha)
I don't want to come off as rude, but I think you were sheathing it the wrong way. Like, the sheath's tip was facing the camera, but when you unsheathed it, the knife's tip was facing away. I don't know if that could damage it or not, so I figured I should say something; it did look like it was a bit tough to unsheath, so that might've been the cause. Otherwise, beautiful knife; it's obviously a classic design, but they've executed it very well.
Indeed I was .. That's what I get for trying to film and not paying attention to the right things.
@@danmontgomery. We all goof up stuff, lol.
@@jamesruth100 I am almost a pro at it now.. LOL
Looks Nice!!!!
Thank you!!
It’s making noise!! That’s cool!! Congratulations on your persistence!
Not the noise I was searching for. But at least it works!!
I would try a stereo jack output with the guitar signal using the tip, the thermin using the ring and ground being common. i would think a diode would be used too to keep the guitar signal from engaging into the thermin circuit to the output jack or vise versa or possibly both. I don't think i would try a potentiometer blend unless it had a diode gate with it. We're talking about using a magnetic field to activate a pickup and an dc voltage to activate a frequency... By experience if you short a phone plug cable while hooked into an amp input for awhile it will create a short in the preamp section with no signal flowing to the output stage. So in stereo mode you could create a project box where the stereo 1/4 inch cable from the guitar enters the box and enters a "y" output ( For separation). one output jack ( mounted in project box ) going to a individual input channel on a mixer and likewise with the other output of the other output jack in the project box.
Thanks, Richie!! The stereo jack was one thing I have been looking at. The extra diode to keep everything flowing in the right direction is a great idea!!
Hmmm...interesting. That could create many endless possibilities being that it is activated by light. I would try some color light gels or even par 38's with colored gels from a distance. Light giving off different spectrums could cause different frequencies to react...in theory... Also i wonder if a 555 timer could be incorporated or integrated within the schematic to create a pulse (on-off-on-off, etc.) Audio Effect @ a specific rate or variable set with a potentiometer linked with the 555 timer... Then plug into a wah pedal...hmmm😲😯😲
Hey, Richie!! I need to do a bit more research. None of what you said sounds English to me ... 🤣
Thanks, some nice ones. Take care,
Thank you & same to you!!
God I love them sod buster knives
Coming Soon ... Stay tuned !!
That's a nice collection of fixed blades. I should look into a few of them myself.
Thank you very much!!
Why didn't you show the one in the coyote tan Kydex sheath
Well, I had set them all off to the side, and as I was going through the knives, I had just forgotten about that one. But it is the Becker BK16 that I have done a video on previously. Here is the link if you are interested. Becker BK16 ruclips.net/video/6WhkRMFE4kQ/видео.html
Nice collection ! ❤
Thank you!!
Those are definitely some badass awesome looking knives!!!!!
Thank you!!!
The case of the mysterious therrimin circuit. Yeah, that a bit of head scratcher. I admire your persistence brother.
I hope to hear something back in the next day or so, from the tech guys.
@@danmontgomery. can’t wait!
You are persistent! And love it. I appreciate you
Thank you, sir!!
Dude! That’s frustrating!
Yes, indeed it is!! But I will get it figured out, one way or another!!

Oh man! Missed this!! It is freakin‘ scientific!!
If I can just find a way to generate the 1.21 gigawatts!!
The Space Guitar journey begins!!
Here we go!!
What a journey this build was!
Indeed it was!! I can't wait to start on you Flying V
Should have a drinking game where we take a drink every time you say 'I'm taking it back down to bare wood.' I'm joking, lol. I'm watching you to learn, and it's really entertaining
I would have never finished the first video!! HAHAHAHAHA
I don't have any experience but I want to get into building as a hobby. So I'm sure this is a stupid question, but couldn't you put some superglue in that divot to take up some space and maybe make it a little easier to work with? Do you have any suggestions on what kind of kit I should start with having no experience? I'm a computer technician but have never worked with wood.
At the time of the repair, I was planning to just clear-coat the natural wood. But even my method for the repair would not take a stain to hide it. I have found you can use about anything as a filler, depending on what you are going to lay on top of it. At least that is my experience with some tests on scrap wood.
AWESOME
Let's go
Good morning!very excelent footage, ;)
Everyone added G10s and those same sheaths, so might as well be like everyone again ans strip the coating.
Attaboy! Touché!
Those new scales look awesome. I really like the sheath too
Thank you!! I am impressed with the quality of both products.
Turned out epic!
Thank you!!
That does look so good!! Good choice.
Thank you, Dawn!!
Looks beautiful and now it has a beautiful sound!! Enjoyed watching your journey with it Dan. Glad it all came out awesome in the end. Loved the picture's on the end too!
Thank you, Dawn. It was quite the journey, indeed!!
Background music is perfect!
That neck looks super sleek and the Grovers…yes!
Love the silver holographic. I used that on an iceman I built a couple years ago. Awesome!
Dude! It looks absolutely amazing!
Thank you!!
It’s looking good! Love the colour!❤
Thank you!!
Nicely done, great choices all around. TKC and AZWelke make some fine products indeed, and how can you not love the BK16? Fantastic build brother.
