I gotta say one good thing about davenport is the car thefts are down. Not long ago there were like 300 car thefts over there. Id see out of town folks leaving the car running while going into a store. I told them you never wanna do that here ever. Especially over in Davenport.

Illinois sucks but there are tornados galore down south. Ditto for hurricanes if south enough.

Every week end during the summer there is five things to do. There is always something to do in every little town around us. Worst part of Davenport is all of the Illinois people moving here to get away from high taxes. Internet is T-Mobile to get. $50 a month and it great. Davenport is a dirt old river town just like every town along the Mississippi River. Most that come to visit us here beings we spend six months a year in Florida is don't you ever stay home because of all the things that are going on around the Quad Cities and other small towns. Our Camping in our county park is very cheap compared to other areas of the country.

What about east moline that’s apart of the quad cities althoug east moline and moline are very similar there are just a lot of rivalries between the two

I live in the quad cities and can safely say Davenport’s is the second most geto area of quad cities now there are some very rich areas in Davenport’s the most geto is rock island btw the quad cities is more like 6 cities because some people consider Bettendorf part of it it’s not some people,e don’t consider eat moline part of it any more it is and some people think rock island is not part of it anymore and there’s another one that’s probably considered part of Qc

I care about public transportation they need to increase it and bettendorf could use more bike path type sidewalks and more connected walking/ biking paths for those who dont have vehicles that use bikes or walk alot

ridgeview is a subdivision of home's all built in the 1950's slab home's around 900 sq.feet.

alot of the large homes described were cut up into apartments years ago in the 1960's & 1970's. as discussed many are being restored back into single family homes that they once were.

Davenport isn't bad if you live up north. Just avoid being over near Menards. It might be one good neighborhood then you have Americana park.

Born and raised in LeClaire, moved in my 20s. Always wanted to move back with my family. But it’s gotten so big compared to when I lived there. Makes me not want to move back since I live in the country now. It was so nice to be able to walk or ride my bike to the river. I also remember how excited everyone was to get McDonald’s and subway. The community was truly amazing, everyone takes care of everyone. I can’t really think of anything “bad” about LeClaire. Truly a great place to visit or live in!

Im so close to le Claire id live there specially if they need help with bicycle and small engine repairs cause id run my repair service out there. If i had a small house and garage to live and work out there.

Many parts of davenport many thought were bettendorf. If you go up Utica Ridge Rd turn right on terrace park Dr. The north side is davenport yet the southern part. Literally cross the street is bettendorf.

Hello. I lived in Southern California and got married, but it’s an interracial marriage and we have mixed children, in California it wasn’t bad at all but we moved to Illinois, a few years back, and we get a lot of mean looks, and neighbors that, we’re inviting, when they met me alone but then, distanced themselves when they saw our family, my question is, do you know if it would be like Illinois is for us in Iowa? Or atleast, areas to avoid and what areas wouldn’t care? The biggest concern is for our children.

Cost of living is high just about anywhere with inflation. Chicago has more jobs to go around and wages start higher than the red states who pay below the minimum to start. Less taxes but lower wages overall in other states. Ive been to Nebraska and its cheper with tax and homes but boring as hell. Omaha is ok but no where near Chicago from food, people, to different cultures and things to do especially if you are in your 20s and thirties. Different if you are retired, anti social and with a little bubble mentality.

The Home Depot at Duck Creek is the area where they had a small movie theater. I suspect they did the best they could with the available land. The mall suffered from being too small compared to North Park and South Park.

I'm 38 lived in Des Moines til I was age 22 then moved to Cedar Rapids. I like living in Eastern Iowa more. Des Moines is a great city but it really has changed a lot from 2008 when I left.

Moline isn't the worst. It's not Crack island but it's also not silvis. Out of all the Illinois cities it would be coal valley out behind the zoo or silvis.

I remember as a little kid and as we would return home we would drive by kstt radio station and Elvis would be on the radio and I thought he was inside the radio station.

Use the everyday car to go into dav leave the nice one at home. I took my car there twice and each time I was about hit because some idiot was doing 90 down Kimberly Rd right near North Park.

The wind is not the reason Chicago is called the Windy City. Look it up.

Trust me you want to avoid davenport. It's not the same as it was 30 years ago.

I owned a home on central park right down from vandaveer ,lived in davenport all my life and I am 60 ,I have watched davenport changed over the years not for the better sad to say ,downtown used to be amazing with woolworths and walgreens ,petersons budget store all the shops ,it was always busy ,now its bars , a walk down to the river was gorgeous on a summer day ,the parks here were amazing ,families everywhere, my how things have changed 😢

Delivered to these homes for years with UPS. From forest rd on is davenport. Some of those homes you showed were in bettendorf. The hamburg district is being flipped into multi-unit apts for st ambrose and palmer students. Most of the davenport past bridge is owned by slumlords. It was my route when the 324 main building collapsed. The needles are everywhere. Avoid gaines to division and locust to the river. The homeless and drug addicts are a huge problem. Up towards 280 along locust and kimberly are probably the nicest bang for your buck homes. If youre going to move to davenport, move to areas along 280. Public schools are trash, but they have great private schools in the area.

Does davenport is safe place to live?

Make friends with a farmer lol, also there’s a lot of shooting rages in the close smaller towns too.

As someone who was born here and lived here most of my life, I would advise people to look elsewhere. Schools tend to be poor, the weather is extreme, taxes are among the nation’s highest and the State Legislature and Chicago are corrupt. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.

Moving to the Quads from San Diego last year was the best choice I could have made. I enjoyed these vids before I moved but now the things you’re saying make so much more sense cause I experience it too! This channel is truly a great resource for anyone considering moving here or here already

My family is considering moving to Iowa. How is Davenport as far as insect pests (mosquitos etc.), storms/tornadoes, and flood risks? I want to live somewhere that is unlikely to flood.
