The Academy of Sacred Music (AOSM) was founded by a professional opera singer to cultivate the musical talents of young people in Scotland and to enrich their lives and the wider culture through the rehearsal and performance of sacred and classical music. Open to children and young people irrespective of their religion, race, colour, creed or other distinctions, The Academy is principally an educational charity that provides tuition in voice, piano and choral singing, combined with regular solo and choral performance opportunities for circa 25 young people (supported by a small cohort of more experienced singers). Membership is unrestricted (with no audition) and is obtained through the payment of a nominal quarterly fee, ensuring that as many people as possible can participate.
