Of course I'd heard of it, but I'd never seen any of it before. What a tragedy to have lost something so beautiful, and how nice to have a little bit of it back, at least on video.
Elegant spaces. Elegant geometry. But where's the ornamentation? It reads like elegant and thoughtful modernism. Milquetoast modernism

Why is the new addition so ugly in a kind of non-descript way? Why does it look like it looms threateningly over the old building?Why weren't the architects able to make it look like it belonged to the old building? This just looks like milquetoast modernism. I'm shocked and dismayed that Robert A M Stern is part of this.
So. A modernist's cop out. Let's make a facade that makes no rational sense, with windows wherever we like and in no meaningful pattern, but we'll use pretty materials and claim that it blends in because of them. I'm shocked and dismayed that Robert A M Stern is part of this "timeless" (😂) building.
