    My M57n E53 X5 2004 3.0D 218ps did EXACTLY the same sound when warm. The EXHAUST manifold was split and caused this. Replaced it, the car now runs flawlessly! It was NOT the timing chain. It was the stainless steel exhaust manifold. It cracks easily past 150,000 miles.

    • @jonasjo202
      @jonasjo202 Год назад

      Hi. Every time when chaging pump, injector or even filter, fuel system should be primed using diagnostic equipment.

    • @nemz7505
      @nemz7505 Год назад

      Many people miss this step out and some make it worse by removing the pipe from the fuel filter, so all the fuel runs out of the pump rather than disconnecting the fuel line from the high pressure pump line which has a one way valve, this at least keeps fuel in the pump - To bleed it's in ISTA Service Functions - Fuel Bleed If all the fuel has ran out of the pump, it must be primed or there's a chance of the roller bearing inside picking up on the cam and the pump will die in a matter of weeks, fills all your high pressure lines with swarf and contaminates the fuel tank via the return. Same thing if you put petrol in by mistake, got to get it towed, do not start the engine.

    • @starletburkie
      @starletburkie Год назад

They are all gone by this time. I just did my own timing and had only 187000 km and the bearings are worn. If you dont change the bearings it wont last long.
