Should we pass midline? Intro to the Sweet Spot
Intro to the Sweet Spot - I'm not a big midline fan and that's because I've shanked so many balls that I thought I had until last second... FLOAT!
I lose my intended angle and I feel awful "I had it!" Here's a small intro to why I don't love passing the ball midline, in front of me and where I think we should track and contact float serves.
PS.. Float serves and Jump serves should be passed differently.

Float Serve Partner Drill (Never Midline)
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Never midline game is an easy partner drill you can use to help with 'opening the door' when we open the door, we give ourself the space and ability to respond to last second floats with our intended angle. I don't like midline because if the ball floats last second, we will lose our intended angle - we don't want to be in a situation where we are so vulnerable to something we don't have contro...

How to Train the Split Step ?!?! Drill for Liberos!
Просмотров 21 тыс.9 месяцев назад
One of eight drills I like to use to train the split step for serve reception. If we can get a conscious read and a quicker, more dynamic 'push' towards the serve, I believe we will be incredibly successful in passing both float and jump serves. Great video. I look forward to reviewing more of them. What are your thoughts on the appropriate numbers of passers in serve receive? 15U boys age category. Communication isn’t great yet between them but passing ability isn’t there yet either. More passers = better chance to get to the ball however more passers that don’t communicate well = more opportunity for miscommunication/indecisiveness. Thanks.

    Hi there, I saw your exercise to practice moving on the court, you have already splitt stance which alowe you to react in all direction fast, why you making one more jump to paralel stance before you move, that extra jump is unnecessary.

    Why move back after contact? Wouldn't that take you further from the net and you have to go further up to cover etc? Is that just to absorb the ball power so you don't overpass?

    • @kirkuk6613
      @kirkuk6613 2 месяца назад

      yes it is to absorb force. Staying still will cause the ball to be uncontrollable.

    Can someone explain what the problem is with the set at 7:52 (Micah's last set to the oppo)? I listened to the explanation afterward and went back to watch it, but it didn't seem like he twisted to the right much at all. Maybe just the camera angle? Thanks for this btw! One world class setter training another world class setter and we get to get a glimpse!? Brilliant!

    • @DonFranciscoUSF
      @DonFranciscoUSF 4 месяца назад

      I believe he's trying to tell Micah not to follow through with the rotation when he's setting right, saying that if he turns his hips too far then the ball will go too far right, which is much harder for your attacker to hit. I think it's the same idea as what he was saying at 3:45, just warning about rotating with the whole body as opposed to just the torso. But I could be wrong.

    Hi. Great video. Around 2min in ... why do you instruct to keep on moving? What does the continual movement do?? Thank you

    • @xcver
      @xcver 6 часов назад

      Aside from the movement to reduce the power of the ball the movement afterwards should never be something you always do, but with real powerful serves it is more a necessity as you wil not have the time for proper footwork to be standing after the pass
