Goerz Minicord TLR Camera Disassembly and Overview
A fairly long video going over each of the components of a Goerz Minicord subminiature TLR camera. These were made for a few years in Austria in the early 50's, in a few models. They took 10mm square photos on 16mm double perf film, but single perf seems like it would work. The camera is pretty simple in construction, but high quality in production. With some hands on ability they really aren't hard to work on. These cameras are somewhat rare and come up in submini discussions, but there's very little hands on info about them. I got this camera cheap, dirty condition so it needed work no matter who had it. Sorry for the jerky format and direction, it was just tossed together as I went alo...

Fuji TW-3 Lens switch mechanism
Просмотров 208Год назад
Just showing how the lens selection works on the 35mm half frame Fuji TW-3 since I think its neat and unusual. A mirror pops out and the lens is actually offset for the longer focal length 69mm telephoto. Then swings away to direct shooting lens for the 23mm wide lens. Periscopic lenses before compact digitals.

I've had this cool little camera for a little over 2 years. The original batteries got replaced with 2 CR123s and it worked fine, then died in storage. I replaced them and they again died in storage mid roll. The problem with this is to replace the batteries you have to open the film door and take the body apart. Bad news when you're mid-roll. I'm working on replacing the CR123s with an externa...
Minicord shutter speed range and function demo
Просмотров 62Год назад
Finished cleaning and reassembling the shutter of my minicord camera. I haven't done a speed test on it to see if it adjusted, but it's interesting to see this odd little camera in action. The aluminum rod on the left is connected to a flat disc piston that slides down a cylinder bored into a brass block to provide slow speed retard. As the speed dial is turned a vented needle valve drilled int...
Minox ML 35 Shutter Repair Fix
Просмотров 7 тыс.Год назад
I got a cheap MInox ML 35mm camera that was sold as partially working. I figured I'd take the gamble and see if I could fix it. I tore into it, got it working and did what I could to make a video of what I did before putting it back together. Sadly it's not a step by step teardown, but I didn't expect to actually figure it out, or how long it would take so I didn't start with a video. If you ha...

A short video showing a comparison of original, likely worn out stainless reed valves vs. new Boyesen 2 stage reeds. I was having starting and tuning problems on my '82 2 speed, and noticed gas spitting back out the carb throat when kicking it over. That got my looking harder into the reed valves as the only cause for fuel to be backflowing. Sure enough they were worn out. Now it runs like a ch...

Hello Thanks for a thorough video My GL model has a broken film advance lever. The camera seems to work fine just using the thumb wheel for film advance and setting the shutter. The stub of the film advance thumb crank is rather sharp. Any idea how I can remove it from the camera all together, or perhaps get to it for replacement? Thanks

What you are calling snap rings are actually E clips and/or C clips. Those pliers are not used to remove or install them. Just use a small screwdriver to pop the clip off, and your fingers (or a pair of normal pliers) to pop them back on.

i had a faulty shutter too. for me the solution was adjusting the pusher forwards. it's located under the two larger, non-painted, screws on the right. loosen them a small bit, push the little arm mechanism forward (towards the topside of the camera) with a smal screwdriver, and screw the two larger screws back tight. for my camera i had to move the arm mechanism all the way up for it to work again.

Really nice, thank you for this video! I have a Minicord as well, also in brown, ans I consider it one of the weirdest, most ingenious camera's ever made. The prism construction at the top is also highly interesting because the frosted glass is not located between the lens and the prism but somewhere in between two prisms. Do you know how to open that part of the camera? I would like to remove some dust particles visitble through the viewfinder, but I do not want to damage the camera..

"Not confidence inspiring." Ha! You did great, kid. I've dealt with the cracked ceramic before, and this week got hands on a GT that's taken a dive. The counter is misaligned and it takes effort to screw that up. The tradeoff is a solid day or two of work to get a pocket full of excellent. Keep going. If you find you get good at it, low-ball all the "AS-IS" listings and refurbish them for a few bucks. Good luck.

I thank you for posting this...I needed a refresher on the focus knob. A trick to remove some stuck shutter blades is to flow a little lighter fluid to loosen the gum in some overly enthusiastically lubed shutter blades. Thorough cleaning will be needed after dripping the fluid in...dry blades and housing for normal operation. Crumpled blades is another story.

It's me again. I bought an almost mint looking 35 ML for a good price because the seller couldn't 100% ensure it works. Sure enough it had shutter issues (would fire in P mode but not under any F stop setting) and just like shown in your video there were two problem. The position of the arm with the two screws and also the positionadjustment of the bottom magnet. Once I adjusted both the shutter began working reliably in every setting. Once again thanks a lot for your very informative video!

This is truly invaluable. Thanks so much for sharing all of your findings and solutions. I am interested in the 35 ML but wasn't sure if I should go for one that might have issues. It's hard to know which one works. Especially since many on eBay state that they haven't tested it and also because some just hear a click and assume the shutter works. While in fact the actual blades are not budging. I stumbled on that forum thread where someone explained how to adjust that lever position (probably what you mentioned in the video) but you went over way more other possible problems and fixes. I am somewhat confident that I could repair a unit in case it's faulty now... at least it's worth the risk. Thanks a bunch!

I love these cameras. I bought my first one, a Minox IIIs in 1967 for $50. I was 13 and just getting into photography. I used to take this with me always. I also have a Minox B and several accessories. I used to develop my own film and reload the film cartridges with a film slitter that I made. This video looks like it will help me repair my shutter blade that got stuck on the B model. Thank you!

I’ve replaced the shutter blades on my Minox III which seemed to go much easier. Apparently, with the metering added, they have put a lot more inside vying for space. Thanks for your pretty detailed demonstration. A bit more lighting would help!

couple of tips. Don't remove the end screws first, but rather loosen the set screw (don't remove) and unscrew the star headed screw in the film compartment a couple of turns then remove the cocking shell and back plate of the camera and the meter end will come off. Then you can easily get to the two end screws. Also, use a little acetone on a q-tip to remove the paint from the screws so you don't risk damaging anything.

Thanks for posting this. Putting the focus dial back is probably the worst part when repairing these cameras. I usually have trouble afterwards with film spacing. Putting new shutter blades on isn't much fun either, and takes a long time because everything is so small. These cameras take very nice pictures though.

      @69sterlingsilver 5 лет назад

I was worried about the film spacing too but mine turned out fine. You need about 3 hands to hold all the levers to drop the knob in. The first guide has a semi-good description of the position to get the knob in to fight it back in.
