Rotiform BUC-M Install on a MK7 Golf R

Rotiform BUC-M Install on a MK7 Golf R
What if I don't have a 28 mm socket
Does the mk8 not have a belly pan??
Great video. How do you typically dispose of the used oil?
Is this still available? Or anyone know where to get a delete kit?
Who is here after Rawtek got busted?
Have my delete kit on order so definitely referencing this video
Is the intake considered an open flow? What kind of additional power games can one expect after a stage 1 tune?
Note for any mk8 R owners, it doesn't take the same oil as the gti. The R uses the older 0w30 weight 504/507 rates oil. The gti uses the 0w20 508 weight oil.
I see this now after looking like an idiot bringing my own (wrong) oil for my golf R to the dealer to try to save some money 😅😂
Brian, great video for us, many thanks. How do you remove that excess oil in the oil filter housing? You mention this about 1:50 in. Peter
I use the tip of the extractor hose to suck all of the oil off of the oil filter housing cap and then also stick the tube down into the housing and suck the oil that is still in the engine through those holes in the engine as well. You will remove about 250ml more oil this way.
That’s a great tip to get that 250ml oil out - that’s a lot of used oil. Thanks. But instead of “use the tip of the extractor hose to suck all of the oil off of the oil filter housing cap”, could you not just invert the cap and let gravity take the old oil away out of the cap? Have I missed something? Peter
@@Tube-bank you could just use gravity, I just use the suction from the extractor since that is faster and it is only a few mls of oil in the actual cap. Most of that additional oil is still stuck in the part you screw the cap into (part of the engine). Perhaps I am not explaining it right, I don't know what the technical name for the part I am talking about.
You are explaining it right, very well in fact. I understand it. “it is only a few mls of oil in the actual cap”. That’s it, and the majority of the 250ml is in the part of the housing that’s part of the engine. Got it. Can you imagine a dealer/workshop doing this when they change oil for you with the extract method? I don’t think so. Many thanks.
the price of this kit is ridiculous dude.
Awesome video, was able to change my Golf R MK8 oil in under 20 minutes. The oil extractor was an awesome recommendation and I do appreciate the torque specs for the oil filter.
Just did my MK8 R with an OEMTools brand 9.5L extractor and had about a full cup left when I drained it after, and I sucked bubbles and air for a while towards the end of the extraction, wonder if it’s the standard angle cut on my extractor, so next time I’ll try the flat cut with the notch, but I was disappointed when I pulled the plug after watching this, glad I did tho….didnt trust myself more than anything 😂
You have to push the air bleeder and let some air out of the extractor. Then pump a few more times and some more oil will flow. Then as the flow slows again, you take the tube and move it up and down in the dipstick tube while pumping. Force the extractor tube down every time as you push and do this for about a minute. Continue pushing the air bleeder. Then you can even use the end of the extractor tube to suck the oil that remains in the oil filter housing (the metal part of the engine) before installing your filter. If you do this, there will be no oil dripping out when you remove the drain plug, and you will actually get about 250ml more oil out of the engine.
Recently got my kit and stage 2 tune for 2014 BMW 328d xdrive. The tune was super easy, they sent me the handheld device and was straightforward. The delete kit, if you’re doing it yourself find someone with a lift. Will be so much easier. I’m a bigger guy and the past couple days I’ve been crawling around on my back in the gravel and man does my back hurt now. Everything was pretty straight forward like the video shows. I’m not done yet but all I have left now is trimming my exhaust pipe and connecting the new pipes together. Reinstall all the shielding. I closed my trunk after disconnecting my battery. I’m hoping my back seats open up into the trunk so I can pop it open. Like a dummy I closed it with the negative battery terminal off.
I have a 2014 328d with the check engine light on the dealer said it has to have a new dpf so I want to do the full delete and tuning
Just had this happen to me gonna cost $5,400 from the dealer or I can just delete
Do you have to do the stage 2 tune? I have no desire to make more power, just don’t want all the emissions crap. Is it possible to just do a delete and “regular” tune mostly to erase the CEL?
Tunezilla has an eco option as well which is just disabling the dpf/scr/egr, no performance gains...
How did you install the s5 logo on the grill
FYI, for anyone considering this on an X-Drive vehicle such as an N57 X5, it's a monumental pain in the ass to do yourself. To get the DPF out requires you to drop the subframe and to wrestle nearly every single bolt out leading up to the DPF in the most uncomfortable positions imaginable. BMW really goes out of their way to ensure that accessing the DPF and everything in between is as difficult as humanly possible. I'm about 12 hours into the job as somebody that has never worked on cars, and I'm still not done. For an average joe without a lift, this will easily be a multi-day project. So far, I've removed all of the under panels, removed the entire exhaust, removed the entire intake system for easier access from the top, dropped the subframe, removed a motor mount, removed the motor mount arm and have raised the engine to give me the access I need. Also gutted my SCR (cut it open, took the stuffing out and welded it back together) for an OEM look. Right now, I'm struggling to wrestle the DPF out, turns out that the sensors on the filter are baked in and are preventing me from sliding the DPF out of the giant gaping hole I created. I had to order specialty sensor removal sockets, and if those don't work, I foresee myself taking an angle grinder to them and replacing them with new sensors once the DPF is out. If removing the sensors still doesn't work, I will have to cut the vacuum hose tubes attached to the DPF with said angle grinder. And if that doesn't work, I'm going to borrow the JAWS of death from the local fire department and will rip this filter out one way or another. I feel like if you can remove a DPF from a newer x-drive vehicle, you can just about do anything. I've really learned a lot. Or... Simply drive to Canada and pay $4000 for someone to do this for you. If that was an option, I'd do it.
do you need supporting parts like intake etc for the stage 2 tune or no?
I’m wondering too man
bro i can’t get the wiper motor wires off
I bought a oil funnel kit and was let down by the fact the 4th gen has a new designed oil filler cap :-/ I was still able to use it, but not carefree like it would of been had it fit snug on top. I ended up having to hold with one hand and pour with the other.. Still faster than the smaller funnel I had before
Interesting, my 2024 MK8 specifies 0w-30 504.00 spec
Exactly my gti clubsport 0w30 and the 5w30!!
I just bought a Mk8 a few months ago. Im about halfway to the first oil change. This is a lot easier looking than the Volkswagen people were saying. Think I'll keep doing it myself. Thanks for the video!
How did you go about connecting the coolant hoses together?
If this system is so great, why is it blowing black smoke?
Greetings from Vancouver, BC. At what mileage would you recommend the first oil change? My 23’ GTi has 6,923km at the moment and I’m getting conflicting info on when to do my first oil change. I noticed on your video, the car has 6,944km which isn’t far from my mileage. The conflicting info I got was to either change my oil at 8,000km and techs at the dealership told me to run with it till I hit 15,000km or one year. It’s been exactly one year this month that I took delivery of the car and there’s an oil change reminder on my dash.
Thanks
Are you in jail? Lol! Seriously, is this USA legal?
Where is the DEF tank and how much work is it to remove? Seems like carrying 16 pounds of ammonia plus the hardware for the rest of the life of the car is a waste.
Rear left corner of the vehicle. Super easy to remove. Or, drill a hole.
Is there any supporting mods needed. I’ve got a 2013 320d. Just wondering if there will be anything I need to change for example oil intake intercooler and what not
No support mods are needed for this.
Is liqui molly " better" than say.. mobile 1, Amsoil!? Don't know much about LM
All are great. I don't know enough about the specifics of each to tell you if one is better than the other.
I just installed DTM 170 on my new Golf R
Can you send a link to buy the parts for a 2014 BMW 328d 🙏🏻
For those who, like me, don't own a 32 mm socket, a 1-1/4 inch socket will also work.
Add another bonus is you get to buy a new transfer case because the increase in power will tear it apart
are you serious i mean its only a 40hp 60 ft pound diffrence im thinking about buying one for my 328d because the intake looks like a chimney stack and i would much rather just rebuild my transfer case first if its going to be a problem
It’s not a transfer case issue bud. It’s a flex disc issue. If you haven’t don’t so already, replace your aluminum guibo with a rubber one ASAP and add some loctite to the flanges. This has proven to solve the “transfer case” issue
Did you use Sport Mode on all those runs?
Did you have to adjust the headlights when you installed the springs??
OPF Version? Sonds sick!
You need to delete the SCR system (ECU) from the head unit, via E-Sys, otherwise you’ll get the adblue date-gated service errors/reminders. Also, don’t bother unplugging the SCR in the trunk. Just pull the fuse. Otherwise, everything else is bang on. 👍
We have deleted a ton of these vehicles with no issues using this method. Thanks for the comment.
Okanagan? I thought those pulls were filmed in Mexico? 😉
You dont put shit water downed regular gas into a turbo engine
Just wanted to thank you for this video, man. I bought a mk8 GTI this past fall and needed an oil change but have never done it on any car I’ve owned. This definitely helped a ton.
Did you use the extractor hose method
@@ervaunal1054 no, I drained it instead.
No worries. Glad we could help
First oil change? Feels good, yeah? I can't wait to do it on my new GTI, been driving a big diesel truck and couldn't do the oil changes on that
Easy, peasy on Mk8.
Pollute everyone's interior cabin space behind you with your Nox and particulates poisoning. Fantastic. This applies to all vehicles 1m to 100m behind you.
why does everyone use LiquidMoly. Amsoil Is way better. Its the only thing I use in my MK8
ok
Great video. I'm about to do my first ever oil change myself at the end of the break in period in a few weeks. Can you link your extraction tool and torque wrench? I'm looking at purchasing those two items.
I have all the tools and familiar with working on my cars. This looks pretty straightforward and relatively easy to do. Would you agree?
Looks so much like Kelowna
What brand oil extracted do you use?
We have a pneumatic assisted one for the shop. But the Mityvac MV7400 is very popular for at home enthusiasts.
Wow great video. Ive worked in quick lubes for quite a few years and Im a bit of an oil snob. So nice to see someone do a proper oil change and this comparison with extraction V drain plug was surprising. If the mk7 leaves a quarter of a qt after extraction, then thats enough for me to use drain plug only. But if I had a mk8 I would see no prob using extraction.
Thank you for the kind words. We find the mod of cutting the tip of the extractor works wonders as well to make sure they is as little oil left as possible.
Just ordered mine. Very excited.
With the tune will it pass emissions?
No.
