Wich cocpit mod?
Wich block is that one?
It's the GE-129 engine, which means it is a Block-50 in this case. The 30/40/50 all have used the -129. In BMS, the Block-52 is the Pratt & Whitney PW-229.
@@Trekari thanks
Great video series on how to do it right! Thank you!
I'm glad you found it useful. I know it isn't updated for 4.33 (and frankly never will be.) Clear skies and tailwinds.
@@Trekari any new upcomming videos my any chance?
Best video and instruction yet. I've been using the PDF from BMS ,but they get very vague in the start up. I will record this video and watch it 100x you describe it all in extreme detail and is most useful.
Are you former Air Force because you know the F-16 really well.
I wish! :)
+Jason “Wizard” Cavanaugh can you please make a video tutorial of the F-16 ICP panel with every function detailed throughly. Thank you
Priceless video thanks
Why there is no Radar Coursor on on the left MFD and NO RAD is in the HUD? How can I change this on my BMS?
can you play online at falcon bms? If so, can you tell me how?
I can t get to my air con switch. How do you lean forward like in the video? Found it. You hold MMB to lean
I don't know what I was thinking when I tried it but I said I'd put it up because there were a few times when a game infuriated me
+MostPeopleAreStupid I use a 360 controller and the only real problem I have is that engine power stays at 50%. you have to hold it in position with the anologue stick which is difficult when landing and generally maintaining speed. I will invest in a decent stick in the new year. my pc is an i5 3500 with a gt630 nvidia card and 16gb ram. I happy with the graphics but would live to upgrade the graphics card
+MostPeopleAreStupid with the mmb on the mouse. you can hold lmb to swivel your head and use the interactive cockpit a lot easier. I use the keyboard for the hot keys and the 360 controller to fly
+MostPeopleAreStupid You are never going to enjoy your time with BMS whilst trying to fly with a keyboard.
I cant say for certain mate. But I would imagine the high end stuff would have features likr force feedback and the like. I always watch youtube reviews on certain things before I buy them so you should try it. I advise to check 3 or 4 vids on the same product to avoid fanboys or bias for a product
Thanks!
How are you changing values in the data entry display? From about 9:30 onward I have no idea what buttons you are pressing. (Got the dang jet started though.)
Ozzy Hattermann I have a touchscreen that has an ICP on it using Helios software. Thus I am simply using my touchscreen to input the button presses, instead of using the mouse to do it in-game.
Can anyone tell me if is there a problem in case I maintain the parking brake switch ON since the first second I get in the jet? Because in F4AF manual it's the first thing the ramp start guide tell us to do.
***** I cannot speak to what condition the ground crew may or may not leave the jet in. The steps in this 3-part series are directly from actual F-16 manuals. Follow these steps, and you'll be doing it as close to the real-deal as BMS allows, with the caveat that squadron SOP's likely differ from the -1.
Jason Cavanaugh I got it. Thanks a lot. In fact, I search a lot and find out this ramp start sequence is the most realistic I could find. Very nice job.
What Block is this?
+gold333 Block 52
Hello, i am absolutely new in falcon bms and i have some problem with the ramp start procedure. I do not have the scales and the AOA bracket on the HUD. Do you have an idea what is wrong? I uploaded a short video of my ramp start. Check it please!
Check your HUD switches on the lower front-right of the cockpit. The Sensor Power Control Panel, and the HUD Remote Control Panel. Specifically, the panel labeled "HUD," the first two switches on the top row. I suspect you have the ATT/FPM switch set to OFF, and that is likely the issue. That switch should be set to ATT/FPM (fully forward).
Jason Cavanaugh Thanks for your tips! I tried it again but failed. I followed your suggestions and the problem is the same. I still do not have the scales FPM and AOA bracket.
Just curious since I come from DCS but I didn't see you start the APU. Does the F-16 carry one or does it use some other means to get its power?
The F-16 does not have an APU. Power is provided by a battery bus until you start the engine with the Jet Fuel Starter.
Thank you very much for doing this.
Definitely the best ramp start videos I have watched to date. Nicely done!
Thanks!
Jason if your still around, do you have a BMS profile for your Track IR, I noticed that your settings for it are spot on. Nice video your knowledge of it's gauges are good and the flow is pretty good. Thanks again...Speedy
I am around - just not active in BMS anymore. The profile I use is "Smooth" with Precision set to 100 I believe.
Great job! It is always great to see someone playing the sim with such a high level of detail.
Mr. Cavanaugh. I have quite som trouble figuring out what is going on from 11:00 - 11:20 when you instruct us to check our override modes. It is very hard to follow your instructions because we can't see what buttons you are pressing. Furthermore I have no clue what and where to find "MRM override" and "dogfight override". I have no clue where to find the pages where you check if your Aim120's and "heaters" are selected.
why doesn't your squadron use this procedure?
The 72nd is NOT my squadron. I believe they kicked one of the people out of the wing who was otherwise ruining the place, but I have not been a part of them for almost 2 years now. They did not want to use the procedure because the older folks were largely unwilling to move to BMS in the first place, let alone actually have to learn new things.
Jason Cavanaugh Ah I see. Great tutorial none-the-less. Thank you for posting!
+Jason “Wizard” Cavanaugh Are you still flying BMS? What squadron are you with now, and are they looking for new members?
+Charles Riley I'm actually in the process of forming a Hornet-based squadron with my long-time wingman. We're putting it on the back-burner for now until after the holidays are over. Stay tuned!
Korafat, The original manual is bigger than most academic texts and is still a valuable resource for BMS. If you don't have it, there are PDF's of it and the BMS one in the game and online as well as Keyboard shortcuts. Throttle idle detent is default Alt India ( Alt + i) and flaps are default Ctrl F9/F10/F11/F12 (no joke). I know people often tell you to press alt tab or alt F4 but those really are the flaps buttons.
flaps are automatically controlled by the FLCS
How helpful. What do you do when you have a FLCS fault?
You can still click the knob "through" the armrest. Look for the mouse cursor to snap and change color. One click only.
Jason, thanks for the tutorials, i'm a complete noob to BMS and its been a great help watching the ramp start. However i dont have Track IR ....yet! Because of this I cant access the air con switch which you say is critical??? Any ideas please? Cheers - Mike (mickeymccabe@tiscali.co.uk)
Hi I bing playing falcon 4 bms but I will like to play online with other people if anybody know about any server please let me know or how to join multiplayer thanks
how to move throttle to idle ?
So that I can join in the "can't figure out/find..." crowd. I can not find the air refuel disconnect. Thanks, video is amazingly helpful, even after all this time.
The DCS Dobber. Push it to RTN to return to the main DED display from any sub-page.
hey jason i wanna ask what the view of camera u use?
Jason I was in the marine corps for a while and delt with a lot of pilots. It seems to me either you have flown or are very knowledgeable of aircraft. I sure would like to know. What a great vid. keep it up man
gamata file! :P
after trying and trying i fully understand what you mean. "had some pee in my eyes" (german saying when you so happy you cry) after my first landing. i ran screaming around the house telling everyone.... guess they werent that much interessted. xD
You're quite welcome. Glad it was useful for you!
Thanks Jason for a great video
Profile: Smooth Motion Control : Speed 1, Smooth 10 Video procession mode: Precision Precision mode smoothing: 100
Which Track IR profile do you use? It's rock solid. Any special setting? What is your smoothing setting?
Did you used to be a pilot? Because your REALLY smart!
The other thing that I like is the Instant Action Action mode. The developers didn't forget to add this useful feature in the game. I can't start the engine and extend my flaps. How in the name of the holy HotDog do you expect from ME to shoot missile-rockets-bombs, deploy chafs, watch the radar, navigate using TACAN?
Oh GOD! Where 's the idle detent switch on the vitual cockpit? Tried to spot it for the last 2 days. Can't start the engine. Successfully start the JFS though. Bad manuals. No free flight. No training. How do the developers expect us to learn the basics of the F-16 's? Through military academies? The other thing that confuses me is the FLAPS! Where 's the flaps switch? Oh God! Oh God!
SkataKponos eeeeeeeetsi!!
The first time I started my F16 on my own using the correct start up procedure I shed manly tears of happiness...
idle detent is your answer.. there is a spot in the throttle area that does that or you can find a the key combination(alt-i iirc) for panning you can use the 2d snap views(this guy has Track-IR)
You can click on the AIR SOURCE knob through the armrest. Check your mouse cursor - it'll change to green when you're in the right spot.
I thought the A10c had the same thing... my HOTAS warthog has the idle "barrier" installed by default.
What would you do if BIT failed? Reboot the mission?
very nice job it helps me very much thanks trekari!
