    can you do this with bigger yarn? I just got a cool multicolor yarn I want to use for a hat that says "bulky". I am a newer crochet-er so I don't know what this all means, but it says to use 8 mm hook and it says "US L-11". It's not a very big yarn just appears bigger than what you have as it is the twisted kind. I'm unsure as a beginner, do you think this would be suitable material for this project?

    HI love! thanks for this tutorial. For the decrease, I am slightly confused. You marked the 33rd stitch but made your decrease 2 stitches before the marked stitch.. is that how it should be done in the 2nd panel as well? make the decrease 2 stitches before the actual makred stitch?

    • @lucillepearll
      @lucillepearll 11 дней назад

      Hi lovely! So when I’m doing my front panel, I do my decrease 2 stitches before my marked stitch because that is the 33rd stitch for my back panel, so technically it would be the 34th stitch if I were to work into it. When you do your back panel you should have exactly 33 stitches (or however many you have in your panels), so you should be able to work directly into the stitches you have as opposed to prior to the marked stitches. If it’s easier for you, I would recommend marking the beginning and end stitches for both sides of your panels, so the beginning stitch for your front, the 33rd stitch for your front, then the beginning stitch for the back, and the 33rd stitch for the back. Then you can just work into your marked stitches, whatever feels easier for you ☺️❤️

    Although you teach your way well. Filet crochet normally is 3 stitches per box. 3 double crochets is a box or an open box is Dc,chain 1,Dc the first box is open on the end, then it's like you read each block individually from there. If your pattern is 2 open blocks 3 closed blocks and 2 open blocks 🔳🔳⬜️⬜️⬜️🔳🔳 It would be only 15 stitches. Your way leaves way bigger holes.

    • @lucillepearll
      @lucillepearll 17 дней назад

      Hey Brenda, I appreciate your comment - I did mention in the beginning of the video that each box is worth 3 stitches, and as I show in the pattern an empty box will be 1dc 2ch and then 1dc to close the box and a full box will be 1dc, 2dc in the centre and 1dc at the end to close the box - this is just how I explain it but each box is still worth 3 stitches. Each box needs to be worth the same amount of stitches otherwise the pattern won’t work - for example if I then needed to work a full box on top of an empty box in the next row, there wouldn’t be enough stitches for me to work into if I’d only done 1dc 1ch 1dc. As for the holes being left bigger, this is due to the way I’ve chosen to design this piece, I have used a bigger hook and yarn to achieve that look. This is how I’ve learned to filet crochet based off of many different sources, however I totally understand and am aware that there can be other ways of doing this. Appreciate the feedback, I’ll keep this in mind for future 😊 x

    • @lucillepearll

      @@aniie9164 I would say you should be able to get away with it - just be aware that your panels will end up a little bigger and the stitch might look slightly different to mine, just keep trying the top on as you make it to make sure it still fits snug xx
