going to attempt found out about ccv definitely my main problem finally figured out this was the issue after a year and mutiple “bmw” mechanics and i figured it out on my own just getting under the hood myself not knowing anything bought the car for 400$

This is the best car ever made as far as Im conserned! I ve had mine F31 for 3 years I drive 50000 km each year, its now run 340000 km. Ive had no issues with it. I ve only changed brakes and tires a few times. Due to high milage each year I have to drive it to the car workshop for 1 small and one large service each year. When this car is maintained it will never stop, it will always take y from A to B. Best car I ve ever had no doubt.

I bought a 2012 one of these in October (I’m 22 and it’s my first car due to Covid) got it for 1.4k and I was well chuffed as my budget was 1.8k. I’m still learning so don’t drive it much so I’m not very accustomed to what it can do but I’m glad to see this and see it’s not just me with issues with the gear box. Looking at the comments looks like multiple people have had issues. But great video, I didn’t even know I had automatic lights but I just checked after seeing thus and apparently I do (I haven’t driven it at night yet as I live quite rurally)

😂 I whacked the fuel rail as well, doesn't quite sit right without it, Vaseline on the injector 'o' rings helps.

5w40 is not recommended for 320D ! That oil is not BMW04LL certified you will destroy the turbine and later the engine with it !

I bought bought 320d. And i checked on bmw website and there is recall on my car for airbags and egr cooling. They will replace it for free nice. The only reason i bought is coz is max options all packages included and i love it

Cleaning leather is mostly one of those things you notice by touch rather than look unless it's absolutely soiled.

Just picked up a 62 plate, 316d sport auto, 54800 on the clock 1 owner fsh from his local bmw branch, poly pocket full of receipt’s for it, pristine condition… so surfing these type of vids to pick up as much info as possible. Other than a little clunking from the drivers side it seems pretty damb like new🙏🏽🤷🏼‍♂️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

what are you jacking on at the sides to allow you to put the stands in on the jack plates?

Take the oil cap off and filter out first before draining the oil. Just in case of problems then you still have oil in your car, if you drain the oil then can't change the filter or get the oil cap off or it cracks !!!!!! 25nm is the Toque for the oil plug bolt and oil filter cap, renew the copper washer. Check the belts hoses, drive shaft rubber gators and disc and pad brake wea,while you're underneath it. It'll only take 10 mins then instead of an oil service you've done a full service !

Want more power? Get a 330D or 335D. Fuel economy and road tax won't be as good though. They're all good compromises between driving pleasure and fuel economy. It's a case of picking the compromise that suits you best.

ignition on and off doesnt work with F models, might be risky for hfp just for info

Great review and pretty much agree with all you said. I have a 2014 Efficency Dynamics version (and I love the boring steering wheel with flappies which still looks like new, is totally solid and more importantly is not to fat!), yes it is a bit down on power at 164 hp and has 16" wheels (which I also love) and I appreciate the touch more ground clearance. I have had it for 6 years from 12000 miles and it now has 70000. It has been totally reliable apart from the electric tailgate, despite me servicing it myself (have just done the gearbox). Yes would love the inline 6 but was pleasantly surprised by it's power (maybe because I wasnt expecting much). My other car is a V6 Amarok (which really is 2 ton) and the BM is definately faster and just feels so solid on the road. The the interior may seem boring but I love the idrive and the way it has held up just cries quality, still looks like the day I bought it despite much family abuse and 2 large dogs!
