Where to Buy DELISTED Sega Games After 2024
SEGA has JUST delisted dozens of their classic games on Steam and Consoles. However, you can still easily play these games today. So in this brief video, I discuss the alternatives for playing Classic SEGA games, most of which are still playable on modern consoles through alternate means.

The Current State of Limited Run Games

While Limited Run Games has been increasingly popular over the past few years, especially with their physical releases of Persona 4 Golden, DOOM Eternal, and Yakuza Kiwami, I've noticed their quality has decreased slightly. Today I discuss the current state of Limited Run Games, including the positives and negatives, as they approach 10 years of distributing physical games. SUBSCRIBE: www.youtu...

The US Government is KILLING Game Preservation

When I thought 2024 couldn't get any worse for the video game industry, the US Copyright Office officially rejected the petition for game preservation to be an exemption to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). This means that older games are going to be less accessible now, as companies will not be allowed to remotely lend their games to others via a virtual library, as the Video Game H...

Exploring The National Videogame Museum (2024)
Just buy a PS4, they're cheap...play the games. I have a switch
@@trayahzz537 That’s what I’m going to do. I already have a PS4 with Yakuza 0 and Kiwami. On VGP I can buy the remaining 6-7 games on sale physically for $60-$70 total.
Play asia all day for me !!!
PlayAsia is pretty solid! I’ve only used them a couple times, but there isn’t anything on there that appeals to me right now.
@AquaTwist_ if limited run had a online store maybe I would buy from them alot more.
Thank God, I bought them before it got delisted on steam
9:17 This is an awesome transition. I'm actually considering remaking the Wii's UI as a Godot project because I really like its aesthetics.
Sadly it wasn’t used for the Wii, but for whenever you enter the TV World in Persona 4. Would be cool for a redesigned Wii 3 menu though!
@@AquaTwist_ Yeah I know, I was meaning the editing style, also I feel like Persona 3 and 4 could probably have been ported to the Wii, maybe.
I bought Persona 4 Golden on the PS4 through LGR and even though it took forever (granted the consumers are told the time frames for their products) I’m honestly so happy that I have it physically now just in case something were to happen to my digital copies🙌🏼
Yes, those are some of the best games to have gotten physical releases from LRG in my opinion. They're some of the only Switch games I display, and for good reason.
9:50 I prefer the generic mail. People suck and if it was branded people would steal it.
@@Mingodough That’s a valid point, especially for PO Boxes and such.
At least the _smart_ thing they’ve done at the very least was digital releases of _some_ of their exclusives for those who missed the window of preorder. That much I will respect
What did everyone think of The Game Awards this year?
I wish they'd bring back After Burner Climax for Xbox
@@niner4lfe Agreed, we need more racing games that aren’t just Mario Kart…
You don’t support way forward buying pirates curse from a scalper
@@smashmaster13 Indeed, that’s the most frustrating thing about buying physically. I want to support these developers but I want to own these games fully too.
I personally don't care for the Switch versions but I'm super sketched out on reprinting the games for PS and Xbox... Like we already have physicals of the games except of course 3, 4, and 5 are part of a collection release so if you really care that much about having individual releases therefore spending more $, have at it. I only care about having an official physical copy of the games in anyway possible and hopefully not expensive. I hope this isn't going to be a new trend with LRG that they do reprints of Triple A games but they make their own variants. It's near predatory behavior for diehard fans of the respective series but there is worse cases out there.
@@dstreet3818 Absolutely, I’m hoping they don’t monopolize on AAA physicals of less mainstream series (not COD, Madden, Final Fantasy, etc) in the future, that would be awful. Yakuza 3-5 having their own standalone releases is cool though, since they were only put on 1 disk in the US for the Remastered Collection but 3 in Japan.
This is why emulators are a big deal, cause of things like this happening. I don't get why people want to get physical copies of games when you can just get an emulator and get them for free. I'm not spending a lot of money just to get a copy of a game that i don't have a console for it to begin with. Even if i did i still wouldn't pay that much. Fuck the moral about emulation. Its preserving these games and keeping them from being forgotten.
I have some good news sonic adventure 1 and 2 are still available on Xbox in the United States and maybe Canada b it it’s only delisted in Germany last time I checked. Sonic the fighters still available on Xbox but not separately you have to get the legacy bundle now selling
Correct! It’s nice Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are still on Steam!
You made a video AFTER Sega delisted the games? Whats the point then?
The main point of this video was to show how you can get these games AFTER the delisting, not what to buy BEFORE they get delisted. I hope that clears things up.
I just found out about them like 3 years ago. But I do think we need to keep physical media because they already telling us we won't own games when everything digital which to be fair it does say in the fine print we are only buying a license not ownership.
Well, a physical game is also technically just a license.
Nights into dreams is still on the psn store on the PS3 plus there is a PS2 version. However a good majority of people do not know about the ps2 version of nights into dreams because it never released state side.
I mean crazy taxi is available for free in play store however it has ads and it needed wifi in order to play. Also, the japanese version of sa2 was released at steam in THIS YEAR.
That’s crazy that SA2 only launched this year on Steam in Japan! I wonder how their PC market is compared to the US.
NiGHTS Into Dreams got remake for the PS2, however only exclusive in Japan
Good to know! I’ll have to grab that if I ever see it in the wild!
The version of Space Channel 5 on PS2 is called Space Channel 5 Special Edition and actually includes both parts as separate discs (aka disc 1 includes part 1 and disc 2 includes part 2).
@@cool_roberT09 Oh wow! Yeah I was confused why all the listings I found were being referred to as Special Edition. That makes that version of the game even better!
He is a great guy. More people should help preserving all Games possible.
@@retroprogamer7009 He did an incredible thing for game preservation, yet the truth behind him got shown for the whole internet to see just a few months later. Sad isn’t it?
and just like that my steam, xbox and switch accounts just became shockingly valuable...
Lol not really
@ then explain how someone already _tried_ to buy my Xbox account off me, huh?
There alre also other PC phisical releases (usually cheap) if you don't want to buy them digitally.
@@Llucmenork correct! I heard that Dreamcast Collection got a PC physical release in Europe. I don’t know if it’s region free or if it came out here in the US though.
@AquaTwist_ They should be region free, yes.
Some things to note 1. Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars is on PSP, and includes both Crazy Taxi and Crazy Taxi 2. Also features a custom soundtrack feature, whether it be restoring the original music or putting in your own. 2. The HD port of NiGHTS is based on the PlayStation 2 remake, which goes for much cheaper than the Saturn version. The only complication is that it's a Japanese exclusive, and the PS2 is region locked.
Who in 2024 wouldn't have a hacked PS2? xD
@@524caret good to know, I didn’t know NIGHTS even came out on other platforms! I’ll have to look for a copy when I go to Japan. Also I don’t own a PSP unfortunately, so I’ll miss out on that one.
All hope is NOT lost! The Dreamcast games are still available on Steam key sites. So you can just get those games from there.
@@ThunderTheYellowJolteon Correct; I’ve checked and seen them already. However I believe they’re more expensive than they were on Steam; they’re not official so there’s a slight risk with them; and there’s a finite amount of them. Once those keys are gone, so are those versions.
@@AquaTwist_ Well, you're gonna need to save money for those. SEGA usually puts every single one of their games on Steam key sites, and they basically forgot about delisting those from Gamivo.
No mention that the Lost Judgement port version of Sonic the Fighters includes Honey, someone NOT in the GC version? 3:11 You mention Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Adventure 2, yet you show DX and Battle footage.
Good to know, I didn’t realize Lost Judgment has a different version of Sonic The Fighters than the GC version. I mainly used DX and Battle footage to tie closer to me talking about those games for the most up to date, modern ways of playing them outside of Steam.
Just in case that is worth mentioning, there is a compilation game called Sonic's Ultimate Genesis (or Mega Drive) Collection on the PS3/X360 that include various Sega Genesis, Master System and Arcades titles, even some titles that weren't in the PS4 version of the Genesis Classics like: Sega Genesis: Ecco The Dolphin Ecco: The Tides of Time Sonic & Knuckles Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (which has the original soundtrack) Arcade and Master System: Alien Syndrome Altered Beast Arcade Congo Bongo Fantasy Zone Golden Axe Warrior Phantasy Star Shinobi Arcade Space Harrier Zaxxon Also various of the de-listed standalone Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast games are still available to purchase in the PS3 console, just recently I was checking the PS3 PS Store and yep, still available to buy them, if anyone want a list of the titles available to purchase, they are: Sonic Adventure (plus DX expansion) Sonic CD Gunstar Heroes Street of Rage 2 Golden Axe Comix Zone Altered Beast Space Channel 5 Part 2 Sega Bass Fishing Wonder Boy in Monster World Wonder Boy in Monster Land The Revenge of Shinobi Super Hang-On Monster World IV Alex Kidd in Miracle World ToeJam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron ToeJam and Earl Virtua Fighter 2 Sonic the Fighters Fighting Vipers House of the Dead III Sonic Adventure 2 (plus Battle expansion) Jet Set Radio Crazy Taxi NIGHTS Into Dreams... Daytona USA Japan only: Cyber Troopers Virtual On Virtua Striker
Good to know, this is extremely useful! I focused on trying to find the most modern and accessible means of playing all these games for this video. However, during my research, I discovered that some titles are easily accessible on the PS3 store now as well. I wish RUclips could let you revise uploaded videos so I could include this!
Closed Captions are now added! I tried increasing my audio volume and enunciating my voice a bit better so it would be clearer than the Limited Run Games video. Let me know what you all think! :D
I never throw a fit at nintendo again
I recommend sonic gems collection and Dreamcast Xbox collection the better versions and the GameCube versions of sonic adventure 1 and 2.
I'm definitely keeping my eye out on the Dreamcast collection for Xbox 360. I already ordered a GameCube copy of Crazy Taxi because of the licensed music. I want to get Sonic Adventure 2 on GameCube ASAP before it skyrockets in price, but I already got Sonic Adventure DX a few weeks ago for only $20 on GameCube. Sonic Gems Collection I may not get, especially since most of the earlier Sonic game I'm interested in are already in Sonic Origins anyways.
0:50 Eternal Champions was also exclusive to the PC version from what I’ve heard, though most of the other Sega collection have that game by default, as well as the Sega Genesis Mini.
Correct. You can still buy it separately on Steam, alongside the other Genesis titles, for $0.99 each. However, these may be delisted eventually too. I also completely forgot about the Genesis Mini in this video. I wanted to mention it, but I was trying to focus on the most convenient, affordable ways for people to play these games first.
This is a great resource and will hopefully be of help to people who don’t instinctively buy most SEGA games when they first come out like I do. 😛
Thank you! Sega has done a great job filling in the gaps of lackluster Nintendo releases this year, with games like Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, Persona 3 Reload, Metaphor ReFantazio, Unicorn Overlord, Yakuza 8, Sonic X Shadow, and more. Honestly wish I got more into Sega years ago, they’re a nice companion piece to Nintendo games nowadays.
waste of money buying these games when you can just emulate. who tf cares if a giant greedy corporation looses a few dollars. I bought a vastly overpriced sonic origins and was rewarded with an unoptimized buggy cash grab mess. never again.
Of course emulation will always be an option. However, the main point of this video was to help people find non-emulation means of playing these older titles on modern-day platforms and hardware. So if someone has a GameCube lying around, they can still play Sonic Adventure 2 for example.
The Crazy Taxi soundtrack means nothing without Bad Religion and Offspring. 🎶 Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah ! 🎶
@@GamingtheOtter Forgot to mention that in the video, DOH! It’s surprising I don’t hear enough people talking about the licensed tracks still being in the PS2 and GameCube versions of Crazy Taxi, and was removed in subsequent releases.
@@GamingtheOtter What do you know? There is a restoration mod for that if you have the Steam version.
@@thelastgogetaFor people like me who didn’t get the Steam version in time, I don’t believe they can use the restoration mod unless if they find a leftover Steam key on the secondhand market.
What has SEGA got against dolphins? 🐬 I already got all of these games on Steam, found a way to get the 60th Anniversary SEGA games that were delisted and will take advantage of the collection of MD/Genesis games including official roms that can be modded or put on a better emulator. On a similar note, the Steam versions of Sonic Adventure DX and SA2B have restoration mods and more which should be taken into account for people who are undecided on whether to get a Wii to play a GameCube game or to find a Dreamcast game.
@@thelastgogeta I’m glad emulation still exists, even if it’s not my favorite. How did you grab those lost 60th anniversary games? Also it’s nice that there’s cool restoration mods for Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, I might have to check those out.
The most frustrating thing about the delisting is that SEGA never gave us a reason why those games were disappearing in the first place. If they announced remasters or a new collection I'd get it, and rumors are hinting at them happening. But they aren't official right now, so I really don't see how this helps anybody from a company or consumer perspective.
@@MatthewSmart Agreed, that’s incredibly frustrating. Maybe they’re planning something big, alongside the reboots they announced at The Game Awards last year. I’d love a Dreamcast collection on modern platforms similar to the Capcom Fighting Collection in terms of quality.
They’re not gonna stop trying to make money with these games. They obviously have something cooking up that they’ll surprise everyone with at some point. Maybe a new Sega service is coming called “Sega Channel”, available as an app on all streaming devices…….oh wait I should shut up.
Thank you ❤ for helping preserve games
@@Robato-yuh You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video! 🥳
You think it's possible that the base physical unpatched version of lollipop for the switch could run well on the switch 2 without a patch?
Potentially, I’m unsure if it has to do with the game itself or the Switch just being underpowered. Maybe it wasn’t optimized properly?
I stopped buying from them when they fired their employee for liking a conservative pundits tweet and a tranny complaining about it. They literally sided with a mentally ill nobody than their own employee. Phuck them.
I disappointed with pre ordering contra operation guluga. I thought it’s limited run but copies appeared in VGP. I had to pay extra for shipping and import taxes but if I bought it from VGP I could have saved money
VGP buys huge stock from them, so if your in Canada it's best to just use VGP.
The nicest thing I can say about Limited Run Games is at least they're not Strictly Limited Games. SLG took my money for Puzzle Bobble Everybubble 2 years ago, missed several deadlines, and now has no new delivery estimate to offer. I should send them an invoice for the interest on the loan they took out from me. 😡 Never again. At least if I order something from Limited Run Games I can expect it to eventually ship, even if it is a crappy CD-R for the 3DO.
@@mjc0961 Damn, yeah that’s unacceptable. Good to know for the future, I won’t be ordering from SLG then.
