May is All About Me and Full Coverage Week 2 recap
I belong to the monthly magazine group & was hoping to start a new project each month next year so I was following the prompts on patterns from magazines. I’m not sure I can do that as I find kitting up projects so time consuming. We’ll see. Maybe if all I have to do is buy DMC then I’ll make the time to kit it up. But I’m not buying any fabric to start something new. I’ve also got some series on the go that I’d like to wrap up and be done with. Like the Joyful World SAL . I find working on one project for 5 days works really well for me. Congrats on the growth of your Flosstube channel! 2, 3, 4, 5 🙋♀️🇨🇦
Thank you so much. That sounds like a great idea, I think we have a tendency to buy magazines, put them on a shelf and forget about them. I got a couple of little ones done this year and have a few on my list for next year. Knitting up is definitely time consuming and expensive, I'm doing a few each month and as long as I stay ahead of my list I should be good, I'm hoping to have all starts up to April done before the end of this year.
Congratulations on 700 subscribers! Great finishes, you’ve been busy! 3 three
@darlenedeondesigns2844 thank you so much
Deanna love your stitching. Always look forward to your floss tube from a fellow Canadian. I am from Alberta. 1,2,3,4. Thank you!
@jerynjanz9476 thank you so much, love finding Canadian stitchers
Congratulations on reaching 700 subscribers! I don’t have a lots of plans for stitching next year except I do want to try WIPGO. I am attending a couple of retreats close to home including the Stitch and Stash retreat at West Edmonton Mall in June 2025 in Edmonton, Ab. I am lucky to live very close to Edmonton. You mentioned a mileage challenge…I once did an around the world in mileage stitch along so if I can find it I might do that again as well. If I find it and if you’re interested in a copy of the mileages I’d be happy to share it with you. 2 two 3 three
Thank you so much. I'm planning to do wipgo next year for my full coverage pieces, I don't want to ignore them while I start all the new things. I don't think I'll be able to a mileage challenge next year but I like the idea for 2026.
Wonderful finishes! Your letter "D" is gorgeous! I am not entering the thingy but I will answer the question. I am seriously thinking about doing the HAED SAL. I have never done a full coverage before and I thought one of the smaller ones might be good to try and see if I am going to like it. Have a great week and happy stitching.
Thank you so much. If I wasn't doing all my starts next year I would have joined the SAL, that little bunny is so adorable.
@@stitchingontherock It is adorable! They are all fantastic picks this year. I had to change one of my words just in case it attracts the things. Sorry about that.
@@sugarplumstitcher that's ok, I hope their choices are as nice in 2026, I may join t hgen.
Beautiful stitching!!! 3
@@HilltopStitching thank you
Hi Deanne! Wow, you have a lot of finishes! The Santa with the snowmen is my favorite, it’s so cute 😍 I’m excited to see all your new starts next year 😊
@@LadybugStitches the whole collection of her snowmen are adorable but this one is my favourite too.
You are braver then me. I turn 60 next year and I could never start 60 projects 😮, good luck. I’ll be rootin for ya. My biggest plan for 2025 is I am starting my first sal. It’s the HAED2025SAL. I’m a bit nervous but a whole lotted excited. #1, #2, #4 and #5 (10 charms). Until next time, happy stitching 🪡😊🍁
Thank you so much. I'm a little scared I'll get overwhelmed, not sure I've started 55 things in all the years I've been stitching. Which design are you starting? There were a couple that I liked, the baby rabbit, the flamingos, and the jellyfish. Hopefully I'll like some in 2026.
@ I’m starting Steampunk portal
3 and 5 (5 charms) I don't have any plans yet.
@virpir2453 there's still lots of time
No plans for 2025 2,3,4
I'm usually a wing it type of person, we will see how long I last with a structured plan next year.
I hope to join a SAL next year! Love that sweet little gingerbread, how do you hope to finish it?
If you like full coverage HAED has one, there's a bunch of designs you can choose from. The gingerbread is going to be an ornament for the tree, not sure of the exact finish. If you search f o r Shannon Christine freebies on Pintrest you can find it.
👍👍
Hi Deanne. I wish you luck with your planned 55 starts next year. I have a rough idea of what I want to accomplish next year starting with some things I want to finish so those will be my focus to start off and then get into WIPS and a few new starts in the course of the year. I think 2, 3, 4 and 5 for 10 charms would be good.
@nicolec2523 thank you so much. I'm going to need all the luck I can get. Sounds like you have lots to do next year too.
1 , 3 My plans are to make more smalls next year. Also, I have a ton of finishes to fully finish so I will also be working on those.
I've really only been stitching smalls this year, for some reason I've always been a big project stitcher. With so many starts in 2025 a lot of them will be small. My pile of projects to FFO has been growing, I really need to visit the fabric store so I can get started on them.
Hey Girl..Nice to see you. Just an idea for your fifth house. I would stitch a sunflower as if it was growing behind the house. This will look great plus it would fill in your space. Cold November with it's grey layer that just gets one down. Thank God for our colorful world of stitching.
Nice to "see" you too. I love September and early October with all the sun and pretty colours. I hate this time of year when I get up in the dark and eat supper in the dark. What have you been stitching lately?
@@stitchingontherock I just finished the fifth page on my Long Dog Samplers RAGNAROK. There are 15 pages but the first five have the least stitches. I am using color 995 DMC. I also did some Halloween ornaments which I placed on branch. I will do a Mill Hill for this month and work on finishing some quilts.
@marylynnlucas3918 I've got Pandemic on my list for next year, my first Long Dog.
I am just going to continue with working in the challenges through the Wip Warriors group next year. 2
@forestcitystitching I'm in one stitching challenge group on Facebook but it's just a stitch count group, no real challenges.
Congratulations on the 700 milestone & reaching your 10% goal on your HAED!! Well done, for sure!! My 'loose' plans for next year are to actually stitch on what my wheel spins. Lol. This year, I have spun & said, no, i dont want to stitch that today. Lol. I do tend to stitch all the special months activities, like 12x12nye, mira may, sampler sept, nora nov., & all the holidays & seasons, so, I do get alot of stitching done throughout the year, even if I ignore my wip wheel lol. 2,3 & 5 (5)
@kitmar1667 thank you so much. I have a tendency to say no to the wheel, too. It needs to add a voice that says, "You spin it, you stitch it." I try to do the 12x12nye, and I've done both full coverage Feb and Freebie Feb. I've always made May all about me since that's my birthday month and start something new every week.
Beautiful stitching. I love your Mirabilia
Thank you
I am sorry, but I am raging right now at the school your son has to go to. Do they not tell the class about his uniqueness? Where the hell was the teacher if the student didn't feel comfortable? Why wasn't this a teachable moment for all those who were involved rather than what sounds like a suspension to your son. My heart goes out to you and your family. People need to know (no matter what age) that everybody has different social issues (regardless on what autism spectrum, or what ever mental or lack of any mental diagnoses).
@salaam.stitcher thank you. We get so frustrated with the school. If Aaron was unable to be in the regular class, we'd probably have no issues. He'd be in one of the special classrooms doing simple activities, and everyone there would be happy. Since he has a higher average than half his classmates but has social issues that the teachers don't know how to deal with her gets in trouble.
Beautiful projects. Specially the full coverage. Happy stitching
@@ninahobbysite thank you
I might be too late here but I vote brown on the April piece 😉❤ Loved your stitching as per usual! And yes 11,000 would be amazing 😂. I am sorry to hear Aaron has to learn how to transition his schooling…I’m sure that is sort of turning his world upside down rn 🫶🏼
Thank you. I still haven't decided what colour to stitch the border 🤣
@@stitchingontherock 😂😂😂 no rush right?
@@AdventuresOfStitching nope, this is the last one I'll be doing until 2026
Thank you for the video and as I’m watching you’ve made over 700!! Congratulations 🎉 the April boarder I think would look great with the dark purple. Good idea with the jewelry I’m glad you shared I have several pieces I could definitely repurpose. Happy stitching 🧵
@carmencharles3842 Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed my video. I think I am going with the dark purple for the border.

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving from Edmonton! New subscriber here. I love your sunflower piece! I have started new year plans as well. I hope to do twelve in twelve again on New Year’s Eve. I plan to attend the Jingle Ball. Hopefully, you can, too. 🍁🇨🇦🪡
Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to you. I did the twelve in twelve either last year or the year before. It was so much fun. I'd like to do it again this year if the timing works. Fingers crossed it looks like I can attend the Jingle Ball.
This is my first time visiting your channel and I subscribed right away. I thoroughly enjoy your presentation and your work! I can empathize with your son’s school issues. I’m a retired teacher and recognize that there are many short comings in the educational systems around the world. I’ll keep you both in my prayers. Hang in there.
Thank you and welcome. I've talked about Aaron on my previous videos, I could right paragraphs about the inefficiency of our school system when dealing with kids with disabilities, especially ones like Aaron who are smart enough to to be on the prescribed curriculum but have social issues.
Your work is lovely!
Thank you
I loved seeing your full coverage projects! Happy Thanksgiving and happy stitching 💜
@LidiasLeisurelyStitching thank you and happy Thanksgiving to you to
Those monthly patterns are so cute! ❤
Thanks, I linked them in the description, Snowflower Diaries Joyful World SAL. I'll finish them all eventualky.
Beautiful finish! I hope things come around better for Aaron. Glad you had a nice day trip. Sorry you had to frog on the flag. I would stitch the border in the green or dark purple but the brown would be nice as well. I just think April is about stuff growing and blooming so I think green. They are all beautiful, though. I hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving.
@@sugarplumstitcher thank you so much. Happy Thanksgiving to you.
Hi Deanne, for the April border I would do the orange as it will bring it out since it is not used that much.
Thanks for the suggestion. Happy stitching
Happy Thanksgiving Deanne!
Thank you, same to you
What a cool idea with the needle minders! Sorry you had to 🐸 I think you can’t go wrong with the color for the border!
@alananeedle1375 thanks. I was looking for someone to tell me what colour to stitch the border 😀 I can't make up my mind.
@@stitchingontherock I vote for the dark purple. But the brown is nice too!! 🥰
@@alananeedle1375 thanks
I had one Quaker on the flag that took multiple tries too…hopefully only one Quaker for each of us is like that. I am sorry that your son had a social challenge…our autistic kids don’t read the situations well and then they are even more hesitant in public. I love your finished bird! Take care of you. 🦉🍁🍂🌾
@TheStitchingOwl thank you. Aaron is never hesitant. That's part of his problem he has impulse control issues and doesn't read body language, and it isn't something you can teach very well. I hope that's the only motif that I have trouble with. That's what I get for trying to stitch and talk at the same time.
I really enjoyed the life update ❤ The sunflowers are really coming in! I did the same thing with my qsnaps for the same reason! I use hoops most of the time now but a couple 8x11s are still lurking 😊 Thanks for mentioning me! I hope you’re having a great October!❤❤❤
@@AdventuresOfStitching thank you. I use hoops occasionally but prefer qsnaps, I can never get hoops tight enough, I'm not strong enough.
@@stitchingontherock That totally makes sense!
You’ve sure been busy! Lots of inspiration!
Not so busy the last few weeks
Yes to Thrifting! My favorite store is on Elizabeth Ave right next to the Piper's. Bought teo 5x7 frames for 50 cents each! Brand new and nothing wrong with them. Then I spent $25 on a delicious lunch and coffee at the jumping bean 😅 😂 (coffee is definitely worth the stop if you are Thrifting). 🎉☕
Also I am surprised with the quilting books and stitching books I can sometimes find at the value village on kenmount Rd. Doesn't hurt to check the libraries too for magazines. Sometimes they just want to clear out books and you would be surprised what you can pick up.
I've been to the one on Elizabeth Avea few times and actually bought a cross stitch there, but that's all I've found there. I usually get magazines and I've found dmc a couple of times at Value Village. This time I got the magazines at Previously Loved, the first time I've found anything there. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I usually stop for a Carmel hot chocolate at Starbucks
Enjoyed catching up with you! Fun projects : ) Love the older magazines and patterns ❤
@@RenewingStitches thank you
Just found you! I'm in CBS!
@gilliankirby3752 awesome, always great to find a Newfoundland stitcher. If you're on Facebook, we have a little group called Cross-Stitch NL, we do online get togethers once in a while, and if we really get our act together, we meet in person.
Will do!
Thank you for the video. Great job on the fabric dying I love to do do that as well sometimes it’s a definite oops. I almost have my 55 starts ready to go just need to narrow down the last nine then go to go for Jan 1 as well.
Thank you. I can't wait to see the patterns you have chosen, I wonder if we have picked anything similar. I find with fabric dying you just have to jump in and not worry about the end results. I should try filming what I do but I have no set recipe but I do follow the same steps.
Yes I think you should do a fabric dying video I always like to see others techniques. I hope I can find some time this weekend to finish up my choices and I can send you a quick list of my choices to see if we have any duplicates. I know majority of mine aren’t large ones as well tried to make them attainable finishes in the same year.
@@carmencharles3842 I'd love to see a list. I'm just randomly picking pieces and have my starts picked up to the end of March but if we have duplicates maybe we could start them together on our birthdays, or even if we have the same designer. Most of mine are small or medium. I only have 2 full coverage and 1 large sampler on my list.
Great to see you! Making great progress on your full-coverages! Love the way you dye fabric!
