Yeah so overall the winds you had here were way below cat 4 level, even in gusts. Helene was interesting because it seemed like a lot of very inland areas had similar or worse wind damage inland up to 200 miles. Augusta's wind damage for instance was on a similar level to Perry's and that's hundreds of miles inland. My theory for that is it seems like Helene had a rather unique wind field that had all the major hurricane force winds in the far right eyewall at landfall. Overall Helene was one of the more unique storms we've seen and will definitely be talked about for a long time. Assuming these were your strongest winds you've experienced yet? Just don't be surprised if you chase a cat 2 and the winds in that far exceed what you had with Milton and Helene. Seems like Debby for you was a huge wind bust too. Really weird. Milton less so but the winds you had there were not cat 3 level at all. At least from what I've seen, I haven't seen a chaser video showcase the winds you'd expect from a hurricane of said strength in a while. Seems like the only one where chasers actually got the wind you'd expect this year was Beryl, the others either didn't bring the wind onshore or there were no chasers in the location where they occurred (honestly with all 3 it's more likely the former). I think Idalia '23 verified on land as 100kt but no one was there to actually see it. Hurricanes are weird.
