Note: There is pretty clear support of Category 5. Radar does support 150kts (175mph) but we decided to go a bit lower. Also, landfall intensity in Taiwan is supposed to say 115mph, not 165mph.
“Gaemi wasn’t a Category 5” Unofficially, that’s the general consensus, yes, unofficially Gaemi was a category 5 Super Typhoon. I do think Chase animated this way too early I’d recommend waiting for more info about damages & deaths however, satellite estimates peaked to around no less than slightly higher than 135kts yet below 140kts You obviously need to round and bam 140kts. A radar has even found 150kts! Although 140kts (160mph) is generally a good consensus with a pressure of around sub 915. JTWC heavily underestimated this storm and even 130-135kts could be seen as understandable, the official JTWC estimate is… 125kts/940mbars, pretty absurd.

I actually believe chases a better estimate than the JTWC and that’s saying something
i actually go with C5 too

@@ViridYT you said jtwc pressure is 940
To anyone who does not get why PHILIPPINES got flooded, its because the habagat(strong rain&winds) caused to make a big flooding in PH.
one error the 2nd landfall as a cat 3 says 165mph
Was supposed to say 115mph my fault
I believe 130 knots and 945 mbar but im not sure about C5 we will see in post analysis
