1950 CHEVY 3100 - FLOORS AND PULLING THE MOTOR
I have one I'm trying to rebuild. The bed has a lot of wear within the first fit and a friend is going to build it up with his welder so we can grind and scrape it back down to true in that area. Glad to see this, even if it is years too late. Hope you're still getting good use out of it.
LOL Don't be afraid to press down real hard on that SKINEY Pedal!
Please for the love of God get your doggy away from that antifreeze
I did not screw down the gas cap after a fill-up and got a Check Engine light & then a PO 440 code from my code tester. Tightened the cap and the code went away. Easy fix.
Clay you are a super hero
Where does wire go from distributor? I got my welder with wires dangling and not connected.
Do you know I thought British welders was big headed but you Yankee's take the biscuit 👎
Dixie's a happy girl that she diagnosed the truck right.
What about the bottom end ?
@edwardseaton9447 it's still running strong. It's a low mileage engine so no need to do anything with the bearings. If or when it gives up it is gonna be replaced with a 5.9l Cummins
dead channel
You used thread locker on the studs but you're supposed to use Permatex Thread Sealent. They may leak because of that.
Why are you down on your knees when you have it on saw horses?
People who leave stuff out in the weather to rot should not be able to sell it and should be in a cage.
Did you guys hurt the engine, wondered if that muddy water didn't wash out your piston rings?
와우~~~정말 대단 실력자 전문가시네요 영상 잘 보았습니다 감사합니다 South Korea에서 이런차를 주행 할 수 있으면 좋겠습니다😊❤
I put one oh these in my 1972 Chevy with a 5 speed tranny I love that thing.
Well that was a video basically about vehicles. 90% was driving. Woo Hoo! Machinery! Typical Texan idiocy. You don't actually doing anything with the lathe that doesn't involve fixing your trailer lights or stopping at McDonalds until 12 minutes into an 18 minute video. SOOOOO EXCITING! There will be a model/serial number on the near ways on the right hand end. And maybe part of a model number on the nameplate that shows the feeds on the tumbler gearbox. And yes, pops, toolholder is a real term. Thank god yer kid knows way more than you do. The future is less dark than we could ask for from the rednecks like you. The Sheldon lathe group is now on Facebook, and on there you can decode the model/serial numbers to figure out features and year it was made. That is a 70 inch lathe. There will be a '70' in the serial/model number. It's measured as the full length of the way, from under the headstock to the tail end.
Can you dump the bag in the hopper?
Right off the start ive got to say it is not a Detroit diesel was not developed or built by detroit it is a gm built and developed diesel engine ! Frist of all dont' blame Detroit for gm engineers mistake ! Beside detroit was right in the middle of devolpeing its own four stroke engine !! The 6.2 was built in a gm devopement and factoty in the midwest ohio to start with!! Detroit never woud have built something like this screwed up mess at all !
Why do you need to rebuild these engines? I wanted a C30 Detroit in change for my V1500 305 but I often see that these American engines get rebuild all the time. I haven't known anyone needing to rebuild an Audi engine even with 550.000km on it. I certainly never had to and I own 6 Audis currently and owned 30+ over the last 10 years with not one having less than 200.000km on it. Cracks in the head or block...Something I only know from 60s and 70s cars. To be fair, the engine is as old.
I'm guessing that this is a Continental engine?
Awesome video you went with some nice thick steel for that garage!
Amazing, great job. Lincoln machines are hard to kill.
DAMN, good thing you told us that it's not necessary to pull off the bed to get to it! I was already imagining the headache for this weekend.
😂😂😂 I did too
Affen mit Sonnenbrille
Scheißhaus nichts anderes
I had a 84 6.2 one ton dually 4x4 with a 9 foot box full of tools and parts pulling a backhoe and it did just fine, power and mileage...
LINCOLN , NEED I SAY MORE??
Kwantwz HP? ?
Qwantos hp? ?
It is about 225 to 240 now. Just a guess though
@@matthewrandall6320 é turbo? ?
I'm just reading the comments and litterly answered all my questions but same thing it was wierd I found diterated lines I replaced but that went to my abs module and I replace the gas cap I haven't smoke machined it yet trying to get on but this was a good video I'm glad I could see it all
Guys, if the 6.2 was a Detroit it wouldn't be such a piece of shit.
Y are these called Detroit diesels they're not made in Detroit and they're not made by Detroit Diesel
They are called Detroit Diesel because GM began its diesel engine manufacturing in Detroit and the division of GM is called Detroit Diesel Division. There are some old Detroit Diesel blocks that have in the casting GM Detroit Diesel. I have seen those on some tractors. So basically GM and Detroit Diesel are the same. That is why when the Detroit Diesel was replaced in the Humvee it was replaced with a Duramax.
@@matthewrandall6320 I never seen a block marked Detroit Diesel not saying it's not so but I never seen one !
Pushrods are directional
Same drivetrain as a military Humvee.
There was a lot of tip talk.
My truck is a 1982 C20 Silverado 4x4...not a power house....but it seems to last forever...with very little maintenance.....outside of normal.
how much did you take off before yanking the block? my 83 6.2l has a knock that develops after it warms up and is pushing blue smoke out the passenger side tail pipe. starts up with white, then after it warms up it starts running blue after the white clears up. im leaning toward taking the passenger side head off... suggestions?
I have a similar Sheldon lathe. Flat belt and all. I would highly recommend that you move the start switch to the front or end of the machine. I never like reaching over a spinning machine to turn it on or off!
Crazy I’m just now seeing this video but I live in grandview Texas, I’m gunna go get a 57 short hood this weekend so that’s how I came across the video. Hope the welder is doing y’all good
Like the build, don't like the flat pitch or the roof.
Deliverance should have been an off-road adventure. Then that movie would have rocked!
I installed the aftermarket tow mirrors on my Ram and the controls work fine in regular mode, but in moose mode the controls are inverted. What would be causing this?
I don't know. I would imagine it has something to do with the programming.
Do you have a link to purchase these from eBay?
Not a good one. It was 4 years ago when I put them on. Just search for your year model. The ones I got have held up well and they were very cheap. Get the stabilizer brackets that go on the inside. I did not know about them when I made this video.
@@matthewrandall6320 ok, cool. Thanks!
I have this welding machine now. Lol she's alive and kicking in stephenville ,tx. Daily welder.
buenos pasos
I have the same code, P0440. At the pump, fuel leaks back out of my gas cap area while pumping gas. Clogged canister? Clogged lines?
Ahhh your filler tube right we're it goes past the bed can leak
6.2L 2 stroke diesel????
No not a 2 stroke
My apologies, I always associated “Detroit Diesel” with 2 stroke diesels.
@@acetomatocompany there are a lot of the 2 stroke diesels made by Detroit. This is one that Detroit made with GM. They made two of these starting in the early 80s. They made a 6.2l and later in the early 90s they came out with a 6.5l. They were used in a lot of military and marine applications also.
The 1950 Chevy would have enclosed drive line !
Hello i'm from France and working hardly on the renovation of a G20 chevy van from 1982 , can you tell me what is the name and the fonction , of the non plug component , of cooling system at 6, 38 Min where there is your finger , mine is broken , i must order a new one
That is an injector.
Hi Matthew ; i'm talking about the component , who is all left of the cylinder head at 6 Min 38 , looks like a sensor not an injector .... What is the bonction of it ? Thanks ..
@@ALADDIN9999 That is either the temp sensor for glow plug card or temp sensor for cold start advance
