Royal Alloy Guy

Добавлен 8 ноя 2012
I'm a Royal Alloy Scooter enthusiast. This channel is for Royal Alloy Scooter owners, people interested in buying a Royal Alloy scooter and the curious. My videos are intended for the amateur owner and those who just want to see how things are done, I make them mainly in my garage and have resisted using a bike lift as I think the majority of viewers won't have one so if it can be done without I will show how. I will also show mistakes when I make them as its the best way to learn.
I will try to add new videos whenever I get the opportunity often when people ask me how to do something with their scooter.
Thank you to everyone who subscribes as its all about the Scooters and owners. Please subscribe as it shows people are interested and keeps me adding more - Mike

Fitting a Tasso Exhaust to a Royal Alloy GT125
Although you mention the reason that the design is so reliable, that you don't need regular access, and thats why the panels are bolted on, not allowing for quick removal, its still a stupid thing to make it difficult to remove. It would not have cost much more to design it like aircraft panels, with 3 self locking screws, for quick easy access!
All down to cost I guess!
Can the baffle be removed? I noticed 3 Allen key bolts on the rear of the tail pipe?
@simonjameshillier777 I can't say sorry as I fitted it for a friend.
Why not make the seals permanent and use a small bead of silicone sealant?
I moved on to using four spots of superglue after this so yes permanent works well.
Gostei 👍
You really don't need the bracket on the seat , done mine without
Good luck with that.
You bend the bracket on the bars in a vice a little and no need for bracket , just a hole between the two ones
I wanted these bars further back but as I say it's not so much a how to do it than a how I did it.
Yeah I get that , think your rear rack is different than mine , I have the gp 125 se
ขอบคุณ สำหรับวิธีและแนวทางการถอดล้อหน้าครับ ถ้าไม่มีวิดีโอของคุณฉันคงทำมันไม่ได้แน่ๆ😅🇹🇭 thx you 🙏
What size is the edge trim for the screen 3mm or 5mm ? Thank you.
Not certain but I think it's 3mm
Hello, I Have Gp300, when I lock my steering, the steering wheel still can be moved to straight, but it cannot be moved to the right, is it normal? if no, what can I replace? Or what could be the fault?
It sounds like it's not engaging properly and needs a look at.
@@MikeColwell thank you🙏
Hi what extenters did you use and where did you get them struggling to find them
It's all on the video
I think I'd go with the two keys option and store the box key under the seat.
Half way through I thought the same 😂
Hi Mike, can you please recommend a lower rear shocks for TG 300, for shorter rider? Or lowering kits please thanks in advance
Sorry I have no knowledge of these.
Hi Mike, My rear carrier is different to yours and I intend to fit the rear crash bar plate under the rear seat plate with spacer washers. Are the rear seat attachment bolts secured by captive nuts or is it necessary to remove the side panels to remove the seat mounting plate? It will be handy to find out before I attempt to remove it for drilling. Thanks for the info you have provided. Regards, Martin Cooper
I haven't had a Royal Alloy for 3 years or more now (to complicated to explain) however I think they are not captive but you can reach up under the side panel with a socket to secure it. Panels are easy to take off but if you watch my video about taking them off where I recommend using tape to hold the rubbers in place I would recommend you use 4 dots of superglue to hold them in place while replacing the panels. Hope this helps.
@@MikeColwell Hi Mike, thanks for your reply. I saw your video regarding the rubbers and will take your advice on that. Thanks for providing this information. Kind regards, Martin
I found it,can I ask what width size did U get was it the 6mm
Hi mate do U have a link for the trim ? cheers
Sorry if I’m being thick how do you get the rear seat off and back on please .
Can you pls share the exact specs/size of the Bitubo shocks?
Sorry no I no longer have this information.
Hello Mike my name is Elmar from Cologne / Germany and I ride a 300 TG. A few weeks ago I visited the Torbay Mods in Devon with my scooter. All on my own wheels. It's no secret that the roads in the UK are often terrible. I travelled 2400 kilometres in 8 days and experienced some unpleasant situations along the way. Could you please tell me the exact "internal" part number of the Bitubo you fitted, as the roads here aren't that great either 😉. Here in Germany, you have to modified shock absorbers registered in the vehicle documents (🫣) I have to clarify this with the MOT before. Many thanks for that Cheers
Hi Elmar. I gave up scootering two years ago and all the information I have is on the video sorry 😊
OK 🤝🏻
Mike. Where can I get a set of those rear bars
Google Lambretta series 3 rear crash bars.
Has this not got a remaining screws behind it
I guess you mean retaining but no it's exactly as shown.
Hi another question for you, would a seat from a TG 300 fit a GP 300? They look a lower seat and would be ideal... Thanks
Sorry, I'm not sure I never owned a TG
Does it fit under a front carrier ?
I can't get the bar you fitted anywhere ? what are they and where from . Please.
Will I have the same problem with a screen for a TG125 ? ie the length of the bars
I've not owned a TG but I would say no. 😊
Hi I fitted one this very morning. I used the fittings that come with it. They do the job just fine and they also go underneath the bars. That's what the 2 holes are for under the handlebars. Kevkev Dignity 54.
On the video I pick up the two underneath fixing points as you can see. Some screens may come with longer brackets.
Thank you for this video, it saved me 80$ doing this myself! I accidentally smashed that front fender and was rather upset about it, not now 😊..
Good I'm glad I could help 😊
Hi can these be fitted to a milano or modena bud?
Sorry I can't answer as I don't know.
@@MikeColwell thanks anyway bud 👍
Mike your a life saver mate, thanks so much for all your instructional videos and thanks for all your efforts big respect
Thank you for very kind comments 😊
Thank you, very helpful. On my GT 125 however, thete is a nut inside the glovebox, holding the legshield to the frame, remove this and you can flex the legshield enough to get to that awkward bolt.
Yes on the GT with the plastic legshields you can. On the GP the metal is difficult to flex that far. I did one for a pal and he had a very thin ratchet spanner which ment we could do with just a little flex of the metal 😊
What is the best way to replace the embellishments on the front forks…? Cheers m8!
Yes , understand they do a complete kit tried to email them but unfortunately no response to date
Not when I made this video. 😊
I wouldn't worry about getting your order.
Reading the comments I'm still unsure whether you're correct filling via the expansion tank or as others have why not use the filler on the left hand side, removing the cap and topping up? 🤔
If you do as you suggest you will see its difficult to fill the other way as you keep having to stop to let the coolant seep down.
Why's TG300 different 🤔
❤
Have tried these before, doesn't work...
Hi mate did you fit a gasket between the header pipe and head
No I didn't as its not required
you can use low tack tape which won't mark the paintwork...
Soon after making this video I secured the ruber seals with a few spots of super glue which worked really well.
I was thinking same... 😊
Where did you get those mirrors?
There are two videos on my channel on the mirrors I think the first one says where they are from.
Thanks for showing this „how to do“ Great help for many of us :)
Thank you 😊
I had to trim mine up as it flapped about
I would like to add to that most of the scooterista I know say it's also better not to lock the steering . Because a thief will try hard and snap that first causing costly damage to the innocent owner.great video 👍🛵✊
Just realised this thread is 4 years old 😳. Please feel free to re - post as you see fit ? Regards, Will.
Excellent advice but I generally use my small 50litre compressor to dry my bikes from the top down! It is surprising just how much water / moisture is left unseen until you put some compressed air on it ! It is always good practice to wash contaminants from your ride. I generally use TFR ( traffic film remover) sparingly / lightly as a pre-wash before I actually tackle the job of cleaning the Bike / Scooter but I must stress to those unfamiliar with TFR that it will remove any previously applied wax / polish and may leave streaks necessitating the re-application of any Wax / Polish / Ceramic Coatings which may have been applied previously ! I also tend to use a large microfibre towel to dry off after using the compressor prior to the rather satisfying application of the Polish / Wax stage 🙂. Regards, Will.
Thanks for your excellent comments. I have since purchased a bike dryer (actually a dog dryer, same thing half the price) and use it after ever wash. 😊
Mike - you are an absolute Star ! Your videos are really helpful and your easy manner helps to get the message across without any filler or unnecessary dialogue ! It is clear that you are an enthusiast and this shows in the way that you tackle / describe the works which you carry out on your own machine. God bless you and keep up the good work 🙂. Regards, Will.
Thank you for your very kind words. Sadly my health has taken a severe turn for the worse. Hoping for a reasonable time to share with my family.😊
Many thanks for creating this video....I need to replace my rear tyre...thinking best to hand it over to the scooter shop to do that seeing all the tools required...RIDE SAFE & ENJOY..
If your not confident that may be the correct thing to do although it's fairly straightforward.
glad you never took these vids down mate they come in handy all the time :)
Thanks sunshine although I went to dark side I like to see the growth of Royal Alloy 😊
Enjoying your videos, more so as I've just bought a gp300 2020. Seems I have bubbled paint, which I think is rust. So, swapping out seems a sensible option. Why did yours need swapping out? Also. Will the horn cast and mud guard need coming off first? Cheers
Yes you need to remove the mudguard and horncast before the legshield but these are easy. I needed to replace the ignition barrel although I've have done this without doing it.
All good 😊
Nice touch. Thoughts on it three years later?
That seat is beautiful! Very nice work be the upholsterer.
Thank you
