Nature, culture and adventure lover - currently on a solo road trip from the East Coast to Alaska in a converted '08 Subaru Forester XT Sports with manual transmission.
my tribute to Jasper NP in Canada | Solo to Alaska in a Subaru Forester XT
Due to the issue with my Subaru Forester XT, in this episode of my solo female travel vlog to Alaska, I spent a few days in Jasper National Park - kayak on Lake Maligne, hike near Columbia Icefield (Wilcox Pass) and observe Canada Day in the town of Jasper.
For my own safety and due to the lack of time and internet connection while traveling from the East Coast all the way to Alaska, I post videos with a delay.

So good to see you again, Asia. With the Canadian winter approaching I thought of you and your car troubles from your last video and hoped that all was well. Thank you for your tribute to Jasper before the devastating and heartbreaking wildfires. I look forward to your continued travels videos. Życzę szczęśliwej podróży 🇨🇦🇵🇱
Love this video!! Worth the wait.. I think a perfect example of why your content appeals.. no drama (other than Subie ❤️) and you are so respectful and thoughtful. Gorgeous footage too!
Pretty Skinny Girl I love all that .
Już się trochę martwiłem, że Cię grizzli zjadły tak długo nie było nowego filmu😉 .
Haha, nie nic mnie nie zjadło - nie miałam czasu na montowanie, ale już szybko nadrabiam!
As a male, who has a wife and 2 daughters. You have brought quite a few things to my realization that I have often over looked. Actually have been frustrated with my girls about things they do while traveling. I want to make a better effort to help them make safer choices while being out and about especially while traveling. Thank you for opening my eyes to some of those things. You are a smart and courageous woman. Props to you for doing the things you do. Great choice on cars too! I've never owned a Subaru but it's a car I'm considering as my next vehicle. Be safe and thanks for sharing your travels with us. Charles ✌️
Nice video ❤
Thanks! ❤️
New subscriber. Very good !
Thank you!
A very interesting video! I hope to see more of your road- trip. Car-Camping greetings from Germany.
Thank you for such a nice comment! More videos coming really soon :)
Great to see another video from you - your videos are so full of the wonders of the places you visit, you really bring out the beauty of these remote places! Your mix of the Canada Days speech and the monotonous task of doing laundry and waiting for each stage was clever and worked so well, it gave the mayor's words more gravitas. Sorry to hear such a beautiful place has been struck by wildfires - given how hardy the residents must be to handle the winters, I'm sure they'll handle the rebuilding needed, though it's a great shame that they have to and a great shame all of the damage to the natural environment which will revive itself more slowly I hope your wheel bearings replacement went well and that will be the last issue you have holding you back from getting to Alaska
really lovely content . editing your visit to the laundromat together with that speech was a nice creative touch . . . also enjoyed your take on the ‘ egalitarian ’ feel of jasper . . . can’t explain it but i really enjoy listening to you talk ( aaaand you’re super cute ) cheers & stay safe . - mark
Thanks for sharing your visit to the Jasper area. Such a beautiful area of this country. Safe travels and hope your wheel bearings are silent and working well :)
Thank you!
Hi, this video is great... beautiful scenes of the lakes, the trails, those trees and everything in that park... your video is very nice and with that background music you made it masterful... I hope you can repair your Forester soon so you can continue traveling and sharing your videos with us... greetings from Chile
Just as I was thinking "where has Asha been?" this vid pops up.. Good stuff, Be safe...
Thank you! I’m actively catching up with editing my videos! :) more coming really soon
So glad you’re staying safe out there. It was so sad seeing the devastation in Jasper. Thanks for sharing the beauty of Alaska.
Yes, Jasper really suffered but I bet they will rebuild it fast!
Nice video. Unbelievable landscape! And, Nie jesteś szalony! 😊
Thank you! 😊
So glad to see another video from you.
This means a lot to me - thank you!
So appreciate the courage you showed by sharing your personal grief with all of us. You are a special young woman! Let your faith in mankind and nature continue to prosper… View each sunrise you awaken to as a sign of your dad smiling down on you, greeting you with assurances that the day you are about to embark on will be filled with new adventures and beauty. Take each day as it comes. Linger when you’d like, push on when only YOU feel you must… THANK YOU for sharing your thoughts and insights along the way. I’ll be watching, and living this AWESOME JOURNEY through you. Thoughts and prayers to you for a safe and inspirational drive!!
Hey Asha, I hope your silence indicates you're having such a great time that you don't have space for editing! 😅 Looking out daily for your next update - you do an awesome job of those. Much appreciated.
Yes - I didn’t have time to edit my videos but I’m catching up. Just posted a new one! :)
Żyjesz ? :)
Zyje, zyje! Za duzo rzeczy sie dzialo i nie mialam czasu montowac ;)
Was here for the Subaru, but I can absolutely connect to what you are saying about the desert, I have been in the Sahara, it's magical and difficult to describe, but the silence, the stars, it's almost like you could hear the stars, I grew up and live in Germany, so most places are densely populated, I like living here, I like the forests, the green meadows all that, but sometimes there is a part of me which is longing for the desert, it's special. Do you know Edward Abbey Desert Solitaire? If not you could like it, great book. Wish you all the best.
in winter months? Why?
Thank you so much for sharing. I have same car but auto and silver colour. I am planning solo trip around Tasmania Australia with my dog, while recovering from chemotherapy. You are my hero! ❤
Oh, I am so glad you enjoyed my video... thank you so much for your comment. Tasmania is absolutely beautiful - I was there last December and loved it. Wishing you all the best on your healing journey - you are my hero! ❤️ I bet the trip will make you feel better and stronger. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.
Hi Asha. Last post you were having car trouble. Haven’t seen any posts since Banff. Hoping and praying all is well and you’re ok. (PS: Just purchased a Subie and starting the design/build)
Hi, thank you so much for 'reaching out' - everything is great with me and my car. Lots of things has been happening recently and I didn’t have time to sit down to edit my footage as it often takes days to put together one video. But I will have more time soon so a new video will be coming out in a few days. I’m super exicited for your new project and Subie - enjoy the process because it’s fun! Good luck!
I Like the constant Detail that the Subaru has Manual Transmission 😅 btw i Like your videos
Haha, because thanks to that detail those who are really into Foresters know which car I’m talking about - Subaru produced only ~240 of those cars for North America. This model is so rare that people call it a Unicorn 😉 glad you like my videos!
Great job! Thanks. If you get up to the P.N.W. Look me up...lots of great hiking and camping where I live. Skykomish River is nearby.
I had the same exact thought. I love Glacier but I was like WOW on that freeway and thought to myself too that Banff is even more impressive.
I felt a little bit bad saying it, but I’m glad it wasn’t only my impression :)
Маладец 😊
Спасибо!
I have this exact car, and your video has shown me that i dont need to wait to purchase a van to camp in my car. Thank you for showing your build and inspiring me!
So happy to read this :) You definitely don't need a van! I recently made my way all the way from the East Coast to Alaska while car camping in my Forester and I wouldn't swap it for a van if i had a choice. Good luck and safe travels!
I came across your channel because I'm planning on doing the exact same trip and traveling solo in my SUV next spring. One of my concerns is what park permits to get in advance, camping reservations, and how far in advance to do it. May you have the most wonderful time of your life so far! I look forward to seeing more. Thanks for the great videos!
The road all the way to Alaska is beautiful - you will definitely love it! I have many more videos from Alcan waiting to be edited and published, and in a few of them I talk about my thoughts about traveling solo in Canada and Alaska, and give many tips regarding that route - I think you will find them helpful. I should start posting them within the next few days. II think you upcoming roadtrip will be beautiful and will bring you so much joy! I think it's been the best experience of my life :)
Glad you have been enjoying yourself in western Canada. Thanks for sharing ;)
It is absolutely beautiful! I have many more videos from Canada to be edited and published :)
Yes, really enjoyed your film. Thank you.
Very nice
Thanks
Love it to watch your film. God bless you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I don’t like buying cars over a certain year but I wouldn’t mind buying anything around the 2005- 2008 model years. my limit for year of cars is 2005 but it’s getting harder and harder to find cars (especially a forester) in good condition for that year so I’m looking into getting an 08 and with a manual transmission. Those are the best ones in my opinion. Love your videos by the way… glad I came across your channel
Yes, unfortunately older Subarus did not have a good corrosion protection, so it is more and more difficult to find a clean one. If you get a chance to buy 08 Forester with manual transmission, don’t think twice - I genuinely think this was the best generation of Foresters. I don’t know where you are planning to drive it but I’m in Alaska now and most of the Subarus on roads here are those older Foresters which tells a lot about how reliable they are. Good luck! Oh - and thank you so much for your comment! I’m really happy that you enjoy watching my videos :)
@@ashaslaw I will be driving mine up here in Canada and I’ve always wanted to visit Alaska since it’s here in the North… might have to drive up there one day once I get a forester to camp in and you’re welcome too. keep up the great work on your videos 😊
Looking at a Subaru Forester to camp Europe with now, this is how I found you. You gave me some ideas, thank you :)
So glad you found inspiration in my video! Enjoy your trip!
I have so much to learn from you regarding organisation, so big thanks to you<3! Such a great build ! I also cover upp with my black sleepingbag and a dark grey blanket.
Thank you! Enjoy your travels 💫
Love your setup!
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your vulnerability- my parents have been gone for years but hearing the pain in your voice brings it all back fresh. Cherish all the memories and know your father is celebrating this trip with you
Thank you for your kind comment…
Looks cold. I guess you went on January.
Indeed!
The images you share with us from these places are really beautiful, they are incredible and wonderful... it seems that you have to be very careful with bears, pumas, wolves and other wild animals in the area... but I congratulate you for sharing those moments of yours in this video... you made me feel like I was there with you... finally I was left wondering what problem your forester had... I will be attentive... greetings from Chile
Hi, your video is great! I wanted to know how your Forester has behaved... Have you had any problems with it? Would you recommend the same year Forester or a more modern one? Have you been able to get to all the places with the Forester or would you recommend a 4x4 all-terrain vehicle? Greetings from Chile
Hi, I’ve been traveling in my Forester for 2 years now (crossed the US 4 times and drove to Alaska through Canada) and only recently had a minor issue with it. I would totally recommend this car - it’s reliable and spacious. I think it’s powerful enought to get anywhere - the only limitation is its height. I posted a whole video about pros and cons of this car - you may find more answers there.
I started watching your videos to live vicariously through you until my next road trip vacation, but I had to comment on this one. This is my favorite video so far, not only for the amazing scenery but you recorded ravens and I love ravens! They can make some really weird noises if you hang around them enough and they are so so so much bigger than their cousins, crows. Keep up the great content and hopefully that noise was just a wheel bearing starting to go bad.
Beautiful build
Thank you!
Love this update, thanks for sharing your trip with us. I hope your little Subaru is ok! That sounds very stressful to be dealing with in such a remote location.
Thank you for your nice comment - I am glad you enjoyed my video. Yes, it is a bit stressful to drive an older car like mine through remote locations, but on the other hand, I wouldn't swap my Subaru for anything else :)
Hope all is well with the Forester!
Was tea hte same price at the lower and higher teahouse? Must taste so good after a hike!
Good question - can’t compare because I only ordered a small cup at the higher teahouse.
Nomadic introvert did it
Beautiful scenery
Humming noise from rear wheel/s would normally point to a wheel bearing. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Travel safe
❤❤❤
