Back Home Again – John Denver cover
“Back Home Again” was written and performed by John Denver and was released as a single from the album of the same name in 1974.
John Denver was an outstanding songwriter and vocalist who recorded and released approximately 300 songs, about 200 of which he wrote himself. He had 33 albums and singles that were certified Gold and Platinum. He performed primarily in the folk and country genre with an acoustic guitar. He most frequently sang about his joy of nature, disdain for city life, enthusiasm for music, and personal relationships.

Pinball Wizard - The Who acoustic cover
Просмотров 22421 день назад
The song "Pinball Wizard" was written by guitarist and primary songwriter Pete Townshend of the rock band “The Who”. The song was featured on their 1969 rock opera album “Tommy”. The original single recording of the song was also released in 1969. It became one of the most recognizable songs from their rock album “Tommy”. Interestingly (especially for those trying to cover this song), the singl...
Behind Blue Eyes - The Who acoustic cover
Просмотров 403Месяц назад
"Behind Blue Eyes" was written by Peter Townshend of the English rock band, “The Who”. It was included on the band’s fifth album, “Who’s Next” in 1971. The song was written shortly after their famous and very successful “Tommy” tour. It was originally written to be a part of another storyline album to be named “Lifehouse”, following their rock opera “Tommy”. Eventually, that concept was abandon...
Life After Woodstock - (original song)
Просмотров 135Месяц назад
“Woodstock” - millions have claimed to have been there, but if you “actually” were, be sure to send us a comment about your personal experience! 95% of this original song was actually written about 30 years ago. I was never entirely happy with the melody, and I’m still not, but the time has finally come to do something with my song. Woodstock, which happened over 55 years ago, remains a pivotal...
Losing My Religion - R.E.M. cover (re-mix)
Просмотров 317Месяц назад
We originally covered this as one of our very first song posts over 2 years ago, but at the time, we lacked the equipment to separate and mix the multiple audio tracks as good as we can today. Although it was super hot that day, the song has great energy, so we decided to re-mix and post it to a better standard. We also added an additional intro and the bass guitar track. Since that time, we ha...
On The Way Home - Neil Young cover (live at Massey Hall version)
Просмотров 153Месяц назад
Researching this song was interesting. Neil Young plays this song in his concerts sometimes in a different key or on the piano. I am most familiar with his “Live at Massey Hall 1971” album version which was released in 2007, or on his “Neil Young Archives Volume I : 1963-1972 (Live at the Riverboat)". "Live at Massey Hall 1971" was originally scheduled to be released between Neil Young's "After...
"Anticipation" - Carly Simon cover
Просмотров 3332 месяца назад
"Anticipation" was written and performed by Carly Simon, released both as a very successful single as well as the opening track from her 1971 hit album of the same name. She has often said that she wrote the song on the guitar in about 15 minutes, as she waited for Cat Stevens to pick her up for a date. It was later included on numerous “best of” albums. The song was also famously used in comme...
Our House - Crosby, Stills & Nash cover (a nice key with capo guitar version)
Просмотров 2982 месяца назад
My guitar cover of the “Our House” base chords is transposed minus 7 from the original “A” chord version which is now in “D”. My guitar here is tuned down a full step low and then the capo is on the 6th fret. This also allows for the vocal to be sung in a slightly lower key than the original. And I added some bass guitar… "Our House" was written by Graham Nash and recorded by Crosby, Stills, Na...
Against the Wind - Bob Seger cover

"Against the Wind" was written and recorded by Bob Seger. It was released as the second single from the April 1980 album of the same name. “Against the Wind" became one of Seger's most successful singles, reaching number five on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has also been covered many times, most prominently by Garth Brooks and Brooks & Dunn. When "Against the Wind" arrived to streaming servi...
Wooden Ships - Crosby, Stills & Nash cover (on the 12-string guitar)
Просмотров 9733 месяца назад
"Wooden Ships" was written and composed in 1968 by David Crosby, Paul Kantner, and Stephen Stills. It was then sung and recorded by Crosby, Stills & Nash and released on their 1969 album “Crosby, Stills & Nash”. At the time, Kanter could not be included as one of the joint authors due to legal issues with his band “Jefferson Airplane”. The song would also be released by “Jefferson Airplane” in ...
Old Man - Neil Young cover
Просмотров 2733 месяца назад
I picked “Old Man” as the first song since it was originally written and recorded by Neil Young with this model guitar. Neil Young has been a huge influence on my playing and enjoying music. That’s probably obvious from my many previous covers of his songs. "Old Man" was released on his 1972 album Harvest. It was also released as a single on Reprise Records in the spring of 1972. Interestingly,...
Human Highway - Neil Young cover
Просмотров 1953 месяца назад
In addition to the master video track of my cover of “Human Highway”, you can hear that I added a bass track, an additional guitar track and some harmony. “Human Highway” is a song written by Neil Young that the group CSN&Y originally recorded in Hawaii during 1973 sessions for a potential new album that was anticipated to have the same name. Instead, a greatest hits album “So Far” was released...
Homeward Bound - Simon & Garfunkel acoustic cover

"Homeward Bound" was written by Paul Simon, and sung by Simon & Garfunkel. It was first released as a single on January 19, 1966. Paul Simon wrote most of the song while waiting at a train station in England. "Homeward Bound" also appears on the duo's third studio album, "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme". “Homeward Bound” was the follow-up single to “The Sound of Silence” and proved successfu...
Don't Let It Bring You Down - Neil Young cover

Certainly, something different for our channel without the normal historical scenery. However, it’s been very hot and humid outside here in Florida and this is just a quick, very cool song, played in the comfort of a music room. The original song is played in a very creative double drop C tuning, which is similar to double drop D, but the whole guitar is tuned down a whole step. In my version h...
Thrasher - Neil Young cover (from the Rust Never Sleeps album)

I’ve always liked this Neil Young song, but I just recently learned the history behind it, and why the song was seldom played by him. “Thrasher” was released in 1979 on Neil Young’s “Rust Never Sleeps” album. “Thrasher” was not played or promoted by Neil Young for many years due to an extremely critical review of the song that he later admitted had affected him a lot. Finally, at a concert in 2...

Happy New Year 2025 greetings from Vienna Austria Renate Leitgeb and many greetings to LYDIA
Nice job! Love me some John Denver! And what a pretty Gibby!
A favourite song of mine. Nicely done Rick 💜🎶
Hello Dick, hello Lydia, so in the new year 2025 we meet again at your music... I wish you a lot of more music, songs this year... May everything go well for you, not only in music, but also in your personal life. Of course, I wish you good health, happiness, satisfaction!! We all know that health is the most important thing!! Be careful of yourself!! Today's video is perfect again, both played and sung!! I send you all the best wishes!! ZDENKA sr. WISHES YOU BOTH A HAPPY YEAR 2025 FROM FAR AWAY BOHEMIA🥰🌐🕛🎉❤🍀🎈🍾🥂💕👍
Wow
My favorite performer 😍 Can’t wait to see you all again.
Very nicely performed Back Home Again Rick !! Love this song and your backgrounds which really brings meaning to this song. Excellent vocal and acoustic play my friend! Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend and New Year! Steve
Fantastic! Not only great vocals (as always) with a faint hint of awesome harmony -- but great guitarwork and, of course, that subtle bass driving it at the bottom. Loved the images of the rustic buildings. You nailed it with this one - a loving homage to a great song. Not only did we get a smile at the end but almost TWO thumbs-up! You make RUclips a better place for all.
Thanks for the music and music history. I have always loved John Denver but never knew this song until you shared it with us. Thanks for this gift today. Wishing you a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Happy New Year greetings from Renate Leitgeb from Vienna Austria. With all my musiv friends. I hope to music from you 2025. And i play Akkordeon.....
Awesome 💜🎶
Thank you again Ruth! "The Boxer" was one of our very first songs together about 2 years ago. That was also the first time that it appeared that our voices worked pretty well doing harmony together. Glad you found this one! Rick
Fantastic cover 💜
Thanks so much for the nice comment Ruth! This cover of "Old Man" wasn't my best effort and I may re-do it again some day. I had just received that new Martin D-45 and was excited to play it as Neil Young originally used the same model guitar to record this song. However, the strings were brand new, a little "buzzy", and today it can sound like it should. If you can, we have two other Neil Young covers that we're pretty proud of - "Long May You Run" and I like the cover of "Unknown Legend" although not a lot of people have seen it. Anyway, thanks so much and greeting from us here in Ft. Myers, Florida!!! Rick
VERY nice! I loved this. So many good things happening here. Especially loved your twin fiddles. Well done! New subscriber!
Thanks for subscribing Karen. We already subscribed to your channel previously. Promise we'll keep up with our views a little better! Nice to meet someone new! Lydia & Rick
Excellent!!!! Really nailed it!!! Try doing it to the chords, and melody of Folsum Prison ;P You'll be surprised...
Now that sounds very interesting indeed! I will check it out. Rick
Fantastic! Dead-on acoustic and totally cool bass -- not to mention the singing. The "Game Over" at the end was really cool.
Hi Clive, Thanks for watching to the end. That ending to include "game over" just popped in my head to use! I liked it a lot. Obviously, I had a lot of fun doing this one and it was a rather difficult song for me to learn - so I spent a lot of time on it. And while I felt that it was an imaginative and fun video to go along with the song, it looks like given the limited amount of RUclips views on this one, that it is probably best if I go back to the more "folk" music style of the channel. Playing "The Who" may have been a bit much, but I had fun!!! LOL 🙂Rick
@@lydandrick I think you do a brilliant job on making acoustic versions of different genres of songs. Making different arrangements sometimes opens up the ears of listeners. Slowing things down and taking an edgier song and making it more as a ballad is cool. You could probably make any type of song in the Gordon Lightfoot style and make it work.
@@cliveexton8993 Thanks Clive! You have been super to listen to each of our songs every time and your support has been a great encouragement to us. It's been interesting for us to look back and see how much we have improved since we first started playing on RUclips a couple of years ago. I've tried doing "Early Morning Rain" by Gordon Lightfoot several times, especially with my 12-string since he uses one for that song, but it never seemed to sound right when I do it. But I also didn't go much deeper into his other songs, so that is a great idea. I'm also excited to do more with Lydia again very soon after the holidays. She is so good and so much fun to play music with. In addition, you really seem to know a whole lot about songs, instruments and music. I assume that you play too, just not on RUclips? Rick
@@lydandrick Yes, I've performed for years and did studio sessions on several records in England and having played to 17K people at the Cambridge Folk Festival those many years ago. Having been part of this scene all these years I appreciate what you are doing and your prowess. You hit all the right notes in your performances and your love of music.
@@cliveexton8993 Clive, thanks so much for the background about your music career! It is much appreciated knowing that. After so long, it became evident from some of your comments that you noticed so many of the little things in our songs. I play just trying to do the best that I can with every video, but the quality of the audio is the most important for me. It has been a great learning process for me in learning about the new audio recording technology over the past two years of playing with Lydia on RUclips. Lydia is the music major in the group. I just love playing with the sound of her voice and her violin. I had lunch with her yesterday and looking forward to doing many more videos together with her after the holidays. We have so much fun doing these. Stay well Clive and happy holidays! Rick
Great job! Cool original song!
Thank you so much for your nice comment for my original song "Life After Woodstock". Not many had a chance to view it on RUclips, so I am glad that you found it and that you took a moment to comment on it. I may re-do it some day in the future with Lydia providing some harmony with more background instruments. I kind of like the lyrics too! LOL Merry Christmas!! Rick
Awesome. Thanks for taking the time to add the bass part, include the pictures from Soho to Brighton , share with us the music history and of course that awesome Pinball Machine. Great job and thanks for the music Rick.
Thanks for listening again! Yes, adding the bass part seemed to be mandatory to add. I tried going without it, just acoustic, but it just sounded so basic and plain! Wow Rick!!! You took on a big Who Tommy song and performed a great acoustic version my friend!! Loved it! Brings back a lot of memories 🤗.Nice bass play and pinball machine!! Thanks for sharing.... Steve
Hi Steven. Thanks for listening again! Obviously, I had a lot of fun doing this one and you are so right, this song took a long time for me to learn - so I had to spend a lot of time on it. I tried to go without the bass (kind of lazy of me), but it sounded so basic and plain without it. @lydandrick You did a great job on this video Rick, and I know it wasn't easy. I tried to cover Behind Blue Eyes a while back and I removed it not long after because I wasn't satisfied with it. I wouldn't worry about view numbers...I don't. Some covers I thought would do well didn't and vice versa 🤔. I haven't watched a video of yours that I didn't like for any reason! Have a great rest of your week and weekend... 🤗
@@StevenEarney Thanks for your great reply and encouragement Steven. Also, I agree with your comment about "Behind Blue Eyes". It looked easy at first, but then quickly became much more difficult as I tried to get it to sound right. Some are easier than others, some are more difficult. Both "Pinball Wizard" and "Behind Blue Eyes" ended up on the far more difficult side! LOL Rick
I love how you play it, you shooting me back, seen the Movie Tommy and playing this song with the school brass band about 50 Years ago. Thank you for this Great Memories.
Thanks for listening again! I saw "The Who" play the "Tommy Tour" in Detroit in 1970, so lots of memories for me too. @@lydandrick Hi Rick, don't look at the visitors. You have to enjoy every single song you play. And you had it. That's the most important thing. We also play songs that have hardly any visitors, but we had fun shooting the video.
@@jackalopehandmademusic4909 Thanks for the reply and encouragement. I have been remiss in seeing much of your channel lately. I will check it out soon. Have a great holiday season! Rick
I love when a song has its own history. Overall, the concept of the song is interesting, but I have to admit that since I don't know pinball at all, the content of the words didn't mean anything to me.. Have a nice rest of the week, Rick. Sending greetings from the Czech Republic. Zdenka sr 🥰🍀
Yes, I knew that this song was far different from our normal style of music, but I felt that I had to do this song given that the pinball machine was there next to me. But I also had a lot of fun doing it and putting the video together. So thanks for listening and we will be back to the more normal stuff in the future. Playing the rock band "The Who" may have been a bit too much! LOL. 🙂 Rick
Nice acoustic cover, Rick!!! Very cool video!!!!

Perfection here! Love the crisp audio and amazing performance!
I like the obvious affection they have for each other that is expressed in their music
Thank you so much. And so true - Lydia is so talented. Hopefully, you've had a chance to hear her sing too. Perhaps check out her singing "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" or "Anticipation" on our site! Rick

Thank you! This was one of our very first RUclips music posts. Thanks so much for the compliment! Lydia & Rick
One of my favorites and you did it justice !
Thank you Penn! I saw "The Who" play their "Tommy" tour live in Detroit in 1970. We all left disappointed because it seemed like all they sang was about some:deaf, dumb and blind kid". Who knew? LOL
Beautiful song!! As always, perfectly played and sung. I envy the nature around you, the sun and the warmth. We have such a winter here, not winter.. it's cold, without snow, but rainy and icy.. Thank you and I wish you a nice weekend. Greetings to Lýdia... Zdenka sr 🥰❤🍀
I can relate to your weather. I grew up in the northern part of our state of Wisconsin. The winters seemed so long and cold with lots of snow. Yes, I do enjoy the warmer sunny weather here this time of year, but it is getting very, very crowded with so many people here in Florida. Thanks for listening again. It is so much appreciated to hear from you. Rick
@lydandrick ❤🍀🙏🎄🥰
Awesome! What a soulful rendition of this great song. The guitar was perfect and I thought I heard a hint of bass in there. You magically transported us to a better place with this song - it was haunting and sung with true feeling. A smile and thumbs-up to you on this one!!! Thank you for sharing your incredible talents with the world from sunny Florida in America.
Hi Clive! Yes, there was just a hint of bass in there as the pace of the song changed to the more rock portion. This is my first "The Who" cover on RUclips. Working on one more now and having lots of fun pulling it together! I thought about you as the ending is a variation of the usual without the smile or the "thumbs up"! And there is lots of bass! LOL Rick
A beautiful song performed beautifully, Rick. Well done, my friend 👏👏🎸🎸💖💖
Thank you so much! This is my first "The Who" cover on RUclips. Working on one more now and having lots of fun pulling it together! Rick
Great song Rick and I really liked your rendition my friend!!! Excellent vocal and acoustic! I saw the who's Tommy tour in Berkeley , California in mid 1970. Great concert.... My ears are still ringing! If I remember right the James Gang opened for them then. Thanks for sharing Rick 🙏. Have a great rest of your week... Steve
Hi Steven. I also saw "The Who" do their "Tommy" tour in Detroit around 1970 too! I remember that my friends and I all left disappointed because all they sang about was some "deaf, dumb and blind boy"! I think we missed the new album in advance! LOL. Rick
@lydandrick haha Rick that's a good one!! I'm glad you were able to see them... Tommy was pretty knew back then and a big departure from what they usually do.... You did a great job my friend!! Steve
Great job on a great song. Thanks for the music and the music history Rick. Awesome.
Thank you so much! This is my first "The Who" cover on RUclips. Working on one more now and having lots of fun pulling it together! Rick

Yay, another original!!! Great job, Rick! Love the feeling in this song ❤
Thanks Christine! As you well know, seems RUclips does not push original songs very hard. While I do these music videos for my own personal fun, it is nice to have people watch them once in a while - so my originals will be sporadic. It is what it is....🙂 Rick
Same here. It's a bit deflating that RUclips doesn't promote original songs, but I enjoy writing songs so I'll post periodically too 🙂 Keep it up, Rick!
Wonderful song, Rick!
Well, it's not like I haven't seen The Woodstock movie enough times!!!
wow, great performance, I like it
Yay!!! Thanks so much for the great comment! This one didn't get much RUclips circulation, and it was always one of my favorite songs to play! So your finding it and sending a comment is greatly appreciated! 🙂👍Rick
Great song! Loved the over-dubbed harmony. It added so much. That bass just made it perfect. You have nailed the experience of Woodstock.
Both the experience and ideals of the young people at Woodstock and how little has changed. Thanks Clive. Hope all is well for you. Rick
Beautiful song, Rick. Well written with a catchy melody. Bravo, my friend 👏👏🎸🎸💖💖
Thank you Gary. Glad that you liked it. We'll see, I'm not sure that originals are worth the effort on RUclips. But it was just time that I finished this one up and got it out of my head and on video! 🙂 Thanks for listening. 🙂 Rick
The first 100 songs I posted on RUclips were all covers. The last 50 have all been originals. I find it much more enjoyable and satisfying to write and record my own songs now and I enjoy listening to other songwriters creations. 👍👍😎😎
@@garyschafer-thepickinpilot9010 I agree that originals are both challenging, fun and rewarding to write. But my point is that the RUclips algorithm doesn't seem to push them much. And while I'm sure that we both do these videos for fun in our retirement years, I do feel better when I know that many more people (more views) have listened to my posts that takes a lot of time and effort to produce. I've seen some absolutely fantastic originals of both combined video and audio that end up with less than 1,000 views.
Really good original song about Woodstock and life Rick!! I remember the days of Woodstock even though I didn't attend. Play today's standards that concert would be an epic failure...but back then it didn't matter.... Peace , love and rock and roll!! Loved your vocal, acoustic and lyrics! Have a great weekend.... Steve
Steven, it might also be an epic disaster of that many people trying to coexist peacefully together.....Rick
I knew that I would definitely have a song from you on Friday, but I had no idea that it would be such a hit!! Rick, we say - So you did it!!👍👍 And this saying belongs to this composition of yours!! You wrote that you are not very satisfied with the music yet, but I am satisfied!! As for Woodstock... it was at a time when Czechoslovakia at that time was truly totalitarian and under the control of the Soviet Union, so this meeting was presented to us in a completely different context. Only after the Velvet Revolution in 1989 did we gradually begin to discover what kind of meeting it was and what kind of atmosphere reigned there. I believe and know that every Czech or Slovak who loves music, singing and the people around them secretly envies the people who were participants in this meeting. I live in the city of Hradec Králové, where many music festivals are held every year, the most famous of which is ROCK FOR PEOPLE, where thousands of people from all over Europe gather, but it can't be compared to Woodstock. I'm kind of getting carried away...😂🤣 Anyway, Rick, very nice!!! Thank you for the beautiful original composition!! Zdenka sr 🥰
Thanks for taking the time to share such an interesting story. You have lived in such different times and experiences from me. I have seen some video of "Rock for People" on RUclips. It looks like an amazing event! How times have changed for you over there! I'm sure there could have never been a concert like that for you when you were younger there. I was not at Woodstock, but watching the movie about 20 times and the music certainly had an impact on my music and culture! Stay well over there, and I'm on to thinking about the next song to have fun with recording! Rick
@@lydandrick❤👍
What a great song. Thank you so much for sharing. Love the journey from Woodstock to the slipping away back into the loss of innocence. So much here. Fantastic. Thanks again.
Yes, you got the point. So little of the ideals of change at Woodstock have actually happened. As one comment mentioned, a festival like that today would be an epic disaster! Thanks for listening! Rick
Yeeees! Another original song 🤩 so nice Very intriguing title and the song definitely delivered exactly what I was hoping it would. Nice lyrics and melody, great tune Rick!
Thank you Easy!!! Like you mentioned in one of your originals a few months ago, a long time ago most all of these lyrics and this idea for a song entered my head during a dream one night. Thankfully, I wrote them down as soon as I woke up. When the idea came to me recently to change the title from "Flower Child" to "Life After Woodstock", I knew that it was finally time to pull it together. However, most original songs don't get a lot of traction on RUclips. We'll see how it goes and thanks for your support. And yes, I REALLY liked your video today too!!! 🙂👍Rick
Nice rendition...

Sounds great as always. Thanks for the music Rick and Lydia.
And thank you for taking the time to send all of your great comments. It means so much to us to know that someone is actually listening! 🙂 Lydia & Rick
I love the way you play the guitar and Lydia, a virtuosa with her violin! Nice jam! 💓💞💕
Thank you for listening and commenting again. We agree, one of our better ones with some great energy. But if you look closely at us, it had to be a zillion hot and humid degrees out there that day!
