My DIY Awning Idea
Просмотров 1033 года назад
This is the latest modification to my homemade camping trailer. I was looking for an awning that didn't add much weight to my setup and that was cheap. After not finding anything that fits my needs I decided on this design. Hope you like it and get inspiration for your builds.

I know it’s a lot to ask but could you list the type of instruments used here
@@Glitchfaction hello, in this setup I my LP galaxy djembe on a meinl djembe stand. LP fiberglass bongos on a Gibraltar stand. LP percussion rack. Tree works chimes, gon bops tray, on the tray I have the blue LP medium sound shaker, and the yellow soft sound shaker. I have the 3 wood small “cajon” style shakers. I have 3 different chimes of to my right made by meinl and the middle one is tree works. Cymbals: my 16in is a Sabian, hand cymbal, and a 14 in K dark crash cymbal. I have two triangles by tree works, piccolo and medium jam blocks by LP. A would block by tree works, tambourine by meinl , afuche by LP, some seed sound effects from meinl. And I honestly, rain stick by LP and that’s all I could remember. Hope this helps!
I forgot to mention: sleigh bells and cricket effect by meinl, finger chimes by pearl, and blue aluminum shaker by rhythm tech, and waterfall fiberglass effect by meinl
Man thank you for sharing this! Im actually receiving my first set of congas in the mail today and want to learn to play at my church as well! and yes there arent many worship percussionist like you and its inspiring to see someone else shares the same passion for worship!
@@PineapplePizza89 I’m excited for you and your church to open up an opportunity for you to serve and worship God as a percussionist! What kind of congas are you getting? Start building you rig an instrument at a time. Essentials are tambourines and shakers. You then can start fine tuning for sounds you do not have . These can be purchased or made my you! I have instruments that I have made with unique sounds that fill my and my churches needs. I wish you much success and to God be the glory forever for our talents!☝️
@@averagedadbuilds5813Toca Synergy Congo set! Sweetwater had a deal going on so i took advantage! I heard they were a good brand to start with and had positive reviews.I want to try Latin Percussion next go around but definitely going to be doing some research first.and yes most definitely will build it one instrument at a time.I would love to see more videos of you playing.you really good bro.
Muito bacana. Parabéns!
thank you for this! would love to see more! we are in the idst of setting up a percussion rig for worship too!
That’s my brother! ❤
Beautiful.
What, no cowbell?!?!
lol, I have many! But for the type of music we play it would be rarely used and will certainly cut too loud, overpowering the music. I have a cowbell on a pedal for those special occasions 😉
God bless you and everything, but what’s with the Altoids tin?
😂 Got to keep the breath fresh at all times!
Yo, would love to hear it in church application. Not many videos like that out there
I really need to make a few more videos, it’s been awhile! Too busy with life. I’ll make a few videos promise.
Incredible - your musicality is beautiful and so attuned!
So, how it holds up? Because I'm gonna buy a small 5000 btu with remote for my tent. So is it mandatory to cut another hole on front for the return air or leave only the top opening for the dryer hose so cold air can flow inside?
It’s been holding up great. I do summer camping here in FL and it’s a must! I bring my small generator and it’s a wrap! Going with a small unit that has a remote is smart since it sucks to have to wake up to go outside and adjust because it’s freezing inside the tent. I only cut one hole on the unit which is the one that sends cold air out. I cover the usual spot where cold air comes out the unit with the styrofoam that came with the unit. I then just created a face that accepted a dryer hose for sucking in the hot air from the tent. I love it, definitely worth the money to do!
@@averagedadbuilds5813 Awesome! I live in houston tx. Weather is now is 100+!...but that hose on the front was my concern about the face part where the filter is? Do that also need a venting dryer hose as well?
@@genoory5090 i personally used a dryer hose because it compacts well when it’s time to pack up. I’ve seen others use a plastic type of hose but I’m not use where they sell that type of hose.
Since the unit sits out side I run two hoses up to my roof top tent. One that blows cold air in and one that takes hot air out. But I guess if you are using the unit on a ground tent then you may not need either hose as long as the back of the unit is outside the tent.
@@averagedadbuilds5813 no ground tent. Its my adventure overland kayak fishing trailer that has a rooftop tent platform above it? Its pretty loaded. It has a pressurized water tank, a 8ft 8" pvc rod tube, rgb led strips & 4 rgb 7" light pods, propane tank mount, 60" plano rifle case for hardware & tools plus other gear, & 4 on side waterproof dry storage boxes for more gear and tie down straps, & 2 flip out side tables, and also a plug in inverter and soon purchasing a remoted inverter generator & ice cooler fridge and now TIG up a aluminum platform basket for placing my ice cooler fridge & dual fuel inverter generator on front & another platform on the rear for placing my ac unit. And to top it off, adding 4 600lb rated actuators to lift the whole platform when I'm cooking or cleaning my fish for clearance. So overall on long night trips of fishing? I need a ac unit to keep me cool
Hey it’s been awhile man. I was the kid that played percussion at 13. Now I’m 15 and praise god I’m playing bass now. A lot has changed
That is awesome brother! Yeah it has been a while since I’ve been able to upload but I’m still playing percussion at my church!
I play bass too!
Dang this is cool I didn't know such a table existed. If you're overlanding you could get one of those $15 electric faucets and stick the hose down into a water jerrycan too
How did you manage to make the cymbal boom as an addition to the percussion table?
Hi Adam, if you are referring to the boom stand on the right that also has my small chimes, it is a normal boom stand with 3 legs. I just have it really close. Now if you are referring to the left side of the table, it is simply the upper portion of a boom stand that was broken and I have it held to the table with either a pearl brakes or Gibraltar bracket…I can’t remember which!
is that your kit or is the church ? that thing looks beautiful
Thanks, it is mine bought piece by piece throughout the years! The kit keeps evolving depending on the type of music we are playing. Sometimes I add or remove drums or cymbals, etc.
where can i buy it
The table can be bought at Academy Sports.
I could not find it :((
Pretty cool. I saw them just before Christmas for $69 on sale. They went up to $99, and they are now $89 so I'm thinking about pulling the trigger 🤔.
You should! It really comes in handy while camping and keeps down on clutter of plates, pots, and pans. I bought a strainer that I use also and just leave whatever I clean right there with the sink. Glad you liked it!
Wow , this is great, your amazing
What a set up , inspirational
Thanks! I love percussion and love playing for God! My setup keeps morphing but I do like this one.
Hey what’s this song
Great is the Lord- by Housefires (feat. Pat Barrett)
Es geniaaal..!!!
Gracias, la Gloria sea de Dios!
Nice setup.
Thank you, it was fun to build!
Nice. 😁👍 Need product links though so people can get the parts for this setup.
Parmesano🤌🏽
Yo I really enjoy your videos… hopefully I’ll have a rig as nice as your camper trailer you rock!!!
Thank you 😊 so much! I haven't made a video in a while...it's currently too hot to go camping 😅. My build is very budget, "made from scratch" so to speak. Since that last video, I've made some additions like adding recovery boards, changing my grill to a flat top griddle, etc. And I'm planning on adding a hot water heater. When you start your trailer document it, I'd love to see how it turns out. Thanks again!
❤
Question, did you build that rack or did you buy it?
The rack is made by LP.
Great stuff!
Beautiful! thank you for sharing!
Outstanding percussion w/soul & inspirational spirit God works in all different types of ways and sounds I'm a jazz percussionist Thanks Be Safe God Blessings 2 All 🎶🎵🙏🙏
I want to make something just like this
I recommend it! I've had tons of fun building it and evolving it to my needs. Just got back with it from a camping trip to NC and it was awesome. Lots of looks and people coming by to inquire on it! Make sure to document your progress on it when you start. I would love to see it!
@@averagedadbuilds5813 awesome...I was watching all your videos and showing my kids they really want one now....would you mind sharing the trailer size you used for it....thanks for the reply and keep enjoying the awesome build
The trailer size is 40in x 48in. Don't think harbor freight makes this size anymore. But it is better to make the frame anyway. If I had to do it again I would.
@@averagedadbuilds5813 cool thank you very much sir I will keep you posted .
Nice job!
Thank you!
I really enjoy your Videos of Camping Life, with your awesome Homebuilt Camping Trailer. I am beginning my own build, using a 4x6 Utility Trailer, with a Smittybilt Overlander XL Tent, like yours. Lucy Lights are really fantastic Solar Powered Lights. I have Two of them, I use inside my Camper Van, and they are all I need… I’ll be using them with my Camping Trailer, too…
Hello Ed, thank you for your words! Ironically I just returned from a camping trip to Ocala. I didn't video this one, just enjoyed my stay. Those Lucy lights are awesome right! Hope to see you build one day! Keep in touch!
Great job, nice set up. My only concern would be that food particles would attract critters at night.
Never thought of that 🤔, but racoons are the worst in my area so I'm not too worried! Glad you liked it!
Nice excellent percusion man. God live inside the church. God blees.
Thanks man! God bless.
May I ask where you got the strut metal from and what size fits right in the 1.5inch square tubes? Thanks!
The unistrut is 1 5/8 and I got it at the Home Depot or Lowes (I can't remember which). The sq tubing it goes into is from Alro metal outlet and it is 2 inches. Hope this helps.
@@averagedadbuilds5813 Fantastic! What height is the bottom of the tent in the lowered and raised positions? I'm shooting for the bottom of the tent to sit at 5ft or so and then shoot up to 7ft to get the annex room to fold to the ground
The height from the floor to the bottom of the rack that the roof top tent sits on is 60" . When it is lifted and measuring to the bottom of the roof top tent it is 74 1/2 inches.
Keep in mind that if you plan to upgrade your wheel this would also add to the height.
@@averagedadbuilds5813 Nice, good thought! Definitely want some bigger wheels
What refrigerator are you using?
Costway aka Stakol, it is an inexpensive fridge but has worked great for the moment for my needs.
@@averagedadbuilds5813 Thanks for the info and great ideas for my trailer build.
What size square tube did you use with the unistrut?
Hello, I used a 1.5 square tube so that the unistrut could fit into it.
@@averagedadbuilds5813 what thickness did you go with?
@@elm_street_adventures6465 I went with 9 Guage, 0.156", 3.970mm from my local metal shop.
A grill with a tent ?
Exactly!🤣
Looks like a grill with a tent .
I prefer a chuck box with a tent! 😆
@@averagedadbuilds5813 ok
Very Nice Job!!!
Thank you Don Rees, glad you liked it!
use a tripod for your camera
Love it.
Thanks Tee Vee, go check out my other videos as it had kept evolving!
Nice setup. If you get tired of the magnet hooks. You could weld on some ( cold shots ) and hook the tarp to them. They come in different sizes. They are found at most big box stores and TSC in with the chain hooks and links.
That sounds awesome...I did do a modification to the awning which I posted today. But I do still have the hooks. I'll look into the cold shots though. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@averagedadbuilds5813 no problem and i just watched that one and your sink video. I used them on my trailer for tie-down points.
Nice build thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it!
NICE HOTDOG CART….
😂lol!
Great job, thanks for sharing your build.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 😊!
Def a great setup also man
Thank you!
What did you use for the base of the legs, and the legs themselves?
Hello Pat, the legs are unistrut. At the base of them I welded a small piece of angle iron facing outward so that when elevated the unistrut wouldn't come out completely from the channel. When the camper is in closed position the legs actually don't touch the floor bottom. The pull pin plus an additional pin that I installed keep it in place. You can see this more clearly in my initial videos. Hope this helps.
@@averagedadbuilds5813 just watched some more of your videos. Again, great job! I'll probably reach out later with more questions about your build list (if you don't mind). Thanks for responding!
Very nice. Great execution.
