Follow your passion is bad advice. Do this instead.

"Follow your passion" is terrible advice. Firstly, it's a really vague strategy for career development and growth, and secondly - what does that even look like and would you enjoy it? A much better approach is to follow tasks that bring you into a state of flow. 🎯 Healthcare professional thinking of switching careers? Bullying In Medicine: Doctors bullied as often as children (these stats are crazy)
Просмотров 7168 месяцев назад
Bullying in medicine and medical school is A LOT more common than you may think. I used to think that I was one of the few people who was deeply affected by the culture of medicine as it stands today, but it turns out that many junior doctors have experienced bullying in medicine. I think it's time for us to start talking about this very openly, and that's what I want to today with this video. ...

Ex-Doctor Answers: What Should I Do With My Medical Degree?
Hi, for what it's worth I've met tons of women over my life that thought better knowledge, money, working longer hours for more mone, or friends will give them purpose; however in the end as they got older none of these things gave them the true purpose that they found fullfilling. What they regret though, and this is just my experience from what they've said, is not creating a family and having kids while they were in their prime years where having kids was possible. On the other hand I've met plenty of women that dont have much finantially, no big house, no amazing career but they have kinds and a family and they are fullfilled, moreso than those that have all these 'things'. If you think about it this is because we're not here to build buildings, rocket ships, cars, etc, we're here to pass on our legacy and knowledge to the next generation of ourselfs and this gives true purpose. This is why you dont see videos of women with a husband and large family making videos titled "ya, I'm still looking for my true purpose". My advise, you're really pretty so should not have any problem finding a guy so dont waste your prime years stuck in an office, behind a computer or chasing money to pay for that next vacation, instead find a partner you can start a life and family with and that will give you true purpose in this life which will carry on for many generations to come.
Wow I am lost I’m in year 13 and my interviews are gonna be in the next 3 months, I don’t mind medicine currently but what you’re saying makes a lot of sense 🤷♂️ its just I don’t really know what other paths there are for me and I want to make my parents proud while I still can
I'm in the same situation as you😢 I'm thinking of nursing school but I have bad feelings about it. Don't know what to do
Hello dear.I am happy I came across your RUclips channel.I am a medical student, but I had to repeat the year, which would require me to pay another tuition...my parents are still trying to raise funds for me, but my mind tells me it is impossible...They suggested that I go to a different, less expensive medical school. However, after three years, I really do not want to endure the stress of medical school again 😢. I am really considering a different field other than medicine. I need some advice
Mark my words kid ”you will thank yourself later in life” best wishes ❤
I had to revisit this video cos I find it funny:)
You made the right choice by deciding early; otherwise, it could have become much harder. Leaving medicine is certainly difficult, but I agree that it’s one of the most demanding professions. Like any career, it has its pros and cons, and it really depends on what you want from life. In the end, we all face mortality, and it’s wise to prepare for that as well.
I’ve had this video in my watch later for months and I should’ve watched it much sooner. I’ve come to this conclusion now and I will not be going to medical school but I still work in the medical field and it’s so toxic and mean.
Thank you 🙏💕 i really felt how genuinely you want to help people through your videos. Im a 6th year medical student and during my clinical rotations i felt that the hospital environment was suffocating and that it was not my place. For now im thinking about doing an internship and then make my decision but at the same time im exploring other paths .
Thank you so much i felt less isolated after finding your channel. I hope to find my way oneday.
Thank you for sharing this video. It's been two years since I graduated and I always thought I was crazy for feeling this way or that something was wrong with me
Exactly same here.Entered med school with ambition and dreams but later learned that it s a nvr ending race.Cudnt be wise like u but i choose ophthalmology as my speciality.Currently im doing well
I understand that it's easy to think you can become the next Ali Abdal, but the reality is different. Unless you have a scammer dady or many, you will find it too hard to become an online scammer in a few months.
The luxury of sleeping on Sunday is usually not available to many medical students
Good! We don't need doctors who don't have a passion for medicine! If you were truly passionate, you would tolerate the crap in the healthcare industry.
Toxicity in health care system is frightening…10 years in nursing
Doctor here... Ppl are sooooo toxic, insecure, bullies in this medical field
Left after first semester. Now doing CRNA
This is soo refreshing ❤😍
People of your generation have this critical decision. Those who chose as you do, leaving the past behind and letting their own inner guidance direct them are the survivors.
Talking to a therapist or someone wise who would give good advice
So u basically fucked up ur possible career and now ur adrift
Please define social enterprise
Most do not understand the level of certainty u need to have based on data u gather from the pacient. And most professors do not know how the emphasys on this. In medicine you cannot make mistakes, you cannot have doubts. U are either good or ur not, there is no middle ground in medicine.
So that’s why he’s so wealthy! You are the product!
Sounds like privledge and unrealistic expectations to me.
originally not from iraq though
Did u finish medical school so are u a doctor?
How to find ur passion where to start how to try out things??
Medicine is not for everyone. Some people succumb to peer and family pressure to pursue a career that they are not suited for. You have to have a very thick skin to pursue a career in medicine. You made the right decision under the circumstances as difficult as that was.
I wish my son never attended medical school.. graduated from Ross medical school in the Caribbean.. could not get a job in American hospitals.. his demander changed to the worst. He practice in San Diego,California.. wish he Master the courage to call h 77 years old father and say hello. his name is Dr.Mahdi E.Diab, San Diego,California.. say hello if you can find him.
You’re cute enough to get a wealthy man to provide you
Thank you so much it’s so helpful
I’m super happy to hear that it was helpful :)
You are really nice lady with an open mind🥰
Thanks so much that’s really nice of you to say :)
Nice video but the issue is the specialty, why is it that ophthalmology is so over subscribed? Actually nice normal Drs in this one hence why I chose it.
Quit my NHS Paeds haem consultant post as well as medicine after serving for 15 years due to toxic UK NHS culture…Best decision of my life …. Since then have been much much Happier, healthier, richer and lots of time with my loved ones ( the best thing is not having to deal with the morons who are in majority in the NHS)
I wanted to be a doctor sooo badly too but ended up as a veterinarian
Absolutely nothing wrong with choosing a different path. The same thing happened to me but with teaching. I wanted to be a teacher since I was a child and my last semester, my internship, was terrible. I loved the students but the politics within the school and my interning teacher left me in tears every day that semester. After I graduated I applied for a job in child welfare, where I’ve been for the past 16 years and love it. Thank you for sharing your story!
Well done girl! Yu had the courage to listen to you inner voice.
Thanks. It was good to hear that you got confidence from getting confirmation you already know enough to do what you want to do. I understand. That's a big win.
If it’s not for you then it’s not. Let’s all imagine a world without doctors though!
Dr Pamela Wible has gathered evidence about suicides of doctors. She is in the USA but she has some details from other parts of the world.
Thankyou for this video. Such a relief knowing that i’m not alone who is thinking about this. Recently i also had a reality check and realized that i no longer enjoy dentistry and want to quit for the good. i’m still trying to find a career path completely out of medical field but still no luck.
It is life ,it can be played in all directions.
Im not stopping unless u take usmle steps , asap !!!
Brains to get into medical school and the guts to drop out. U will go far in life girl
Ur not old ... ur jst 28-30 ... idk 😭 Gurl thats youth !!!😭
I believe u should motivate yourself in doing usmle
Got , don't mention regrets plz ....
At 7:40 , where you mention your identity tied to you as a mbbs/dr graduate and pursuing medicine, you lost track of who you were and what you wanted. Me having going through the same trauma after mbbs, yes i couldn't have related with anyone else so better ....
Haven't you considered trying usmles ? 5 times more pays, and fast progress to consultant level
