achilles desert hawk xmt jeep JK review

Thought I’d do a short review of these tires on my JK. Low noise good traction in the mud.
When compared to other guns in the same class for $200 cheaper... what did you expect? Donald Trump treatment? Send in your gun and let them fix it on their dime or spend the $200 on better third party parts.
Taurus does not like to send parts.
Taurus has been having recall issues since 1997 and still happening in 2024 with some of their some of their GX4 pistols. Have a recent bought Taurus G3c and tried numerous tries to set it off using just a case with a primer. I dropped it, hit it in the back with a hammer at different angles and even threw it at objects and for distance. It did not fire, unfortunately the firearm now looks like shit.
Gx4 is the coolest of these stack n half subcompacts, love the style, love the teigger fairly crisp, love the slightly larger and longer grip then dinky p365. love the gun but i don’t trust it
Taurus is a retarded company, not nearly as bad as Kimber but bad. I got rid of my gx4 a long time ago
None of them will feed any jhp rounds if fully loaded magazine.
Last Taurus I ever bought , I bought gx4 long slide with barrel and recoil spring as a " complete upper assembly on their website, as pictured/ they just sent me a barebone slide / I emailed them for return address - they purposely give me wrong zip code so I couldn't return the part / later they sent me a false return label with the wrong address / and now I am stuck and they just don't respond / I guess I will have to buy another barrel and for the spring shitty gun /
I have seen a few other people with this issue and One guy put a little bit of glue inside the plunger so the spring can no longer turn sideways
Thnx for posting mine was not on recall either. But i checked and my firepin block is definitely blocking. I like this piece but im having a hard time walking w one in the chamber becuz unlike the g2c this has not manual ssfety. How are u guys handling that? Just fucc it ? Be brave? Lol
Just get comfortable basically. If your not comfortable without a manual safety that’s fine. Just train using it. Meaning when you go shooting practice raising the gun safely off fire a couple rounds safety back on. Repeat. To the point it’s a thoughtless action.
So did you send the GX4 back to Taurus for proper repair?
I bought 2 of these late last year because they were HIGHLY liked in RUclips videos and also dirt cheap and had a killer rebate. Bought one for me and one for my girl. Did the recall thing and make NO mistake- Taurus REFUSES to refer to it as a "recall"! It is a "Safety Notice". Whatever lets you sleep better at night Taurus! FINALLY got to shoot them for the first time a couple days ago. I also put the green Viridian laser on mine because it was also very cheap- the girlfriend didn't want one. G/F's gun started messing up first. It would FIRE, EJECT, but not close completely with the next round. The round would feed but the slide got stuck maybe 2mm before fully closed. She was MAD!!! I continued to dial the laser in and finally noticed that my front sight was missing- THIS is a defect that I have heard about. Then MY slide decided to not fully close with a new round. I'm not happy right now!
I have several Taurus semi auto firearms and I'm also a reloader, I found out that the shape of the bullet can make all the difference in the bullet going into full battery. Taurus chambers are not reamed deep enough for certain bullet shapes, causing the slide not to go into battery fully. To fix this problem I ordered a chamber ream and ream the chamber slightly deeper, this has fixed all of my Taurus semi auto firearms.
@@cloycespears9632 That is an interesting observation. The rounds we were having trouble feeding are lead with a flat nose. We haven't had any problems with FMJ with rounded nose.
I received my GX4 and the slide would get stuck, and not going to battery by itself. Additionally, I had over a 15 pound trigger… I sent it in to Taurus and they fix the slide issue but the trigger is still over 15 pounds. I will never buy a Taurus again.
Taurus customer service was great to me. Sent my pistol in for recall, had it back in 2 weeks. Had not fired it yet since. I will shoot it before I decide if I am going to carry it. I have other EDCs a head of it.
My tx22, g3c and gx4 all have been great. Some people just seem to have more problems in life. 😂
Got a GX4 this week. Fell apart in less than 1 minute after 10 rounds. Absolute garbage.
How did it fall apart? What came apart on the gun?
Ya what are u talking abt ? Its not a god damm chinese printed gun "fell apart". 😂😂😂 Trollgoon.
I haven't popped mine apart to check that out yet, but I am in SDI and this is perfect timing because I'm now in the "detailed disassembly" lab where we disassemble every part. This will allow me to visually check every part, and Taurus has stated that I can order whatever part I may need by using the part number from the "exploded view" in the GX4 instruction Manual (page 32).
That's great keep us up-to-date on what you find 👍
I discovered a spring issue with my firing pin block while lubricating before taking to the range after initial purchase Aug of 2022 (I depressed the block manually as I safety inspect all of my firearms before carrying), and it wouldn't return. I reached out to Taurus asking for a replacement spring, told the same thing, and can't provide. They instead asked me if ammunition was causing an issue even though I hadn't fired the weapon and had stated such. I'd even sent them a video. When mine hit the recall, I reached out again asking if this was the issue with the recall, they wouldn't even respond. We'll see when I get it back if that spring was replaced. Update - firearm returned with the service note stating only that it had been serviced with a few rounds of FMJ run through it. Nothing else. Can't duplicate block safety sticking, so I'm inclined to think they replaced the spring)
Life time warranty just send it in
Assuming you're alive to do so...
Here we go again with the Taurus bull shit. Most likely I will not buy another one
You couldn't pay me to risk myself or my loved ones with a Taurus.
Yeah, spend 1200 bucks on a Sig that goes off in a holster.
@@redwolf7807😅😂 🤫 your hush money check is in the mail
Taurus is sketchy all around. Sig is an overall good, not great but good company but the p320 is crap and Sig is sketchy protecting it when they need to fess up to it, discontinue it and refund taxpayers for all the military and police contracts so they can buy m&p or other. Military should buy the fn 509
Good information 👍 my point of view would probably be Taurus doesn't want to send you a spring because they don't want the liability of you gunsmithing yourself.
I reached out to Taurus today, asked for Technical Support, and explained that I'm currently in school for gunsmithing at SDI and need to do this for class, so they gave me authorization to fix it myself (without voiding the warranty). When I asked about possibly ordering a part, Tiffany said that I could order it if I have the part number from the "exploded view" in the GX4 Instruction Manual.
@@paulis7319 So did taurus say that the spring was indeed the issue?
@@christopherwg4236 she wouldn't comment on that. She just told me to be careful and make sure it's put back together properly if I need to send it in at a later date for anything.
@@paulis7319 the part number is 40015745
@@broandajeep2595 thank you!
Mine is affected but i haven't recieved anything
Put your number in if affected filled out the paperwork on there they will send you a paper to your email you take to FedEx and I’ll send it in
Even though I have checked and rechecked my GX4 and found it to be good. After watching your video, I field stripped mine and checked it out and I can't move my firing pin until the release is depressed. Thanks for the video and keep shooting 😊.
Thanks for this, really good footage about the probable issue on this recall. I´ll share this with my audience in Brazil.
It’s only guns made in America. Brazilians are fine in regards to this.
No biggie bro just a spring you can fix it I’m sure, after watching your previous video I checked mine and it checked out good mine will not release the firing pin unless I push the firing block. I don’t think I have to send mine in.
I have 450rds through it so far since I found the problem 4 days ago. I had about 500 prior. It still works as it should. I am now thinking it’s just lack of quality control in the factory. I would still however, like to get my hands on a replacement spring, unfortunately Taurus does not give these to customers or sell them through third-party vendors. If you were to take your slide apart and the spring goes flying across the room then you can’t find it, you’re screwed
The only man that explained it the right way appreciate it
I guess you fell off the turnip truck this morning. Even Glock has a list of parts that the will only provide to "Certified Armorers Only". By the way, none of my three GX4s were involved in the recall. After disassembly and inspection all were as designed. Six years and only 23 subscribers?
1. You can buy Glock springs damb near at a gas station. Never heard of a Taurus Armor. 2. I don’t care about subscribers. All my videos are unlisted and shared on Jeep forums. 3. You’ve been on 10 years and have 3
@@broandajeep2595 1. That would be "Armorer". "Armor" is what knights wear. 2. Good place for them. 3. Not bad for not posting any videos. Never been that needy.
@@jaydee5156 well thanks for the correction spellcheck bro
Don’t forget to like and subscribe 😂
Down vote and didn't subscribe. Jay's critique was spot on.@@broandajeep2595
Mine is on the list of ones affected by the notice, but I just checked the firing pin without pushing the block down and it does not go through the bolt face unless I push down the button. And…. Still no shipping label from Taurus. Sucks cuz the gx4 was becoming my favorite one.
I heard if your frame says Taurus Armas made in Brazil then you’re not effected by the recall as only US made GX4s fall under the recall. Does yours say that on the frame?
Mine is Brazilian
@@broandajeep2595 damn so it’s really all of them hmmm
Thanks for explaining the drop safety mechanism. Looks like every GX4 will be recalled eventually.
camping gun carry with empty chamber
Very informative, Thanks!!
Still have these tires? How they hold up? Miles?
how is this light holding up after 6 months? Looking to get one, but it aint $50, its $138 on extreme terrain now
Still solid. No moisture in the bar. And it’s been raining pretty much every day for the last month.
Great review , I'm getting these for my 93 xj soon
Thats great for 15k! And good traction, seem to good to be true... End up with any balancing issues?
No I had well over 30k on them with no balance issues. They were fantastic tires till the Jeep was totaled last month
@@broandajeep2595 Oh man, sorry to hear that, I ordered some 35x12.50r20's for f150 the snows falling here in oregon, from reviews think they will outlast my truck as well... Hopefully. Have a great week!
@@broandajeep2595 You should hit up the company, the last part of video, they should hook ya up with something to compare on new ride... Just a thought... Tag. #achillestires @tires-easy.com @discounttires.com ???? I don't know if they do same that @treadwright.com and other company's do.... Free set for couple reviews... The last part where sounded honest. "If your contemplating buying these, fucking do it..." Worked on me. Ha ha
How the wet weather driving stopping now with miles on them now
BETTER. only time i noticed any trouble is when they were brand new
How are they holding up now? I want some cheaper tires that will still hold up for my TJ
Better than expected. 39k miles now still a lot left
i Got em on the Ranger!... Instagram me @shane_underdown_13 💪🔩🔧🤙
What is the width sidewall to sidewall and then treadwidth ?
Thanks man. Considering these for my Jeep. So hard to find clean shots of this tire on a vehicle.
Still happy with tires how many miles on them now? Still holding up ?
Yep im rotating them tomorrow at 25k miles. even wear, quiet on the road and tear through mud
I just bought these same size and everything and they’re bigger than they look
what are your real measurements ? with a straightedge/ level across the top , total diameter/height and real side wall width vs tread width .. i am really waffling and really need those measurements lol thanks!
on my opinion not good tires they start to crack on the face of the tire not good !! i heard that they do that before i bought them and dint not listen to the reviews ..... guess what they did i notice one tire starting to have lines if they where cracking
Idn I saw 32 3/4 for that tire measurement... not 33 1/4?
Jon G I’m measuring to the top of the tread not the shoulder
@@broandajeep2595 why not just throw a level across the top of the tire. I appreciate the review but why on all the reviews for every tire that i have looked at , people just wing the measurement.. why not give real sizing with straightedges diameter and width... huge plus!
The jeep being lighter than the F250 I am wanting to put them on, how do they handle in wet conditions on highway? That's is the only con I have seen some people say about them? 33x12.5x20 is what I am running on a crew cab diesel.
justinlogue31 They handle great in wet roads IMO now. I did notice they felt a little slick the first 100 miles or so.
justinlogue31 did you get these?
