Everybody has a different practice and a different tradition, I tried the daily practice I think it lasted 2 days 😂over the summer in 2024 and I couldn't do it you said it right it's like being boxed in it's like going back to church every Sunday or Wednesday,

I have tried the daily practice but I can't, 😂 my ADHD whoop my butt and there it goes 😂, now if I have time in the mornings I will sit at my altar drink my coffee, give thanks to the universe my ancestors my guides, ask them to give me Grace to get through the day and so forth and that's it, that's like a 5 min thing I can't do a lot of stuff in the morning or at night time, my practice is always changing as I am nothing really stays the same with me in my practice and I think that's okay because I'm always growing I'm always learning

People are not always as straightforward about how they have achieved their level of competence. Coming from a Buddhist background, I can easily see the animist viewpoint concerning inanimate objects having consciousness, however latent. Everything that exists is just a collection of organic and synthetic elements, and humans are no exception. Sentient beings simply have the organic machinery to support a higher level of consciousness that enables self reflection and lived experience, while inanimate objects do not. Where does your consciousness come from? Well, the answer is nowhere, because it is intertwined with the rest of existence and all of the activities from your past lives. It has always been here, but not in its present form. With a house it's much the same. The spirit of a house doesn't have a human body, but the house IS its body. That spirit likely exists on a lower plane of consciousness than the human mind, but that doesn't mean it's not there. It's an aggregate of all the previous events that happened in that house, and the energy that is strong enough is saved within the very space of its molecules. The spirit of a house dies when the house is demolished, which is analogous to the dissolution of a corpse. It can even gain new characteristics if something significant about the house changes. Every experience in a house contributes to its overall spiritual body. Even the material that a house is made of can affect its spirit, since different elements have different characteristics.

I believe you already connected more than you think you did 😂The fact that you've thought so much about the history of the house, your conflicting beliefs, how you're showing up for the house spirit, all of this sounds like how you would begin connecting to ancestry. I also think you're coming at it expecting a spirit that's as familiar and strong of a presence as your grandmother and this is why she's the one coming up in your meditations. Because you're looking for a spirit like her. You know your grandmother existed as a human before, but the house is just an object. However, the house also exists right now, in this plane of existence as you do. Instead of looking for a full fledged spirit, I'd start with the energy inside the walls of the house, because they're physically there, so why not use the opportunity? What has happened inside the house is like memories or events the walls have witnessed, contained and regardless of the good or bad tenants, the walls have protected them. So, connect to the walls. You might find some issues with this, especially if you have claustrophobia, so feel free to modify this however it suits you: instead of meditating to blindly search for a spirit you're maybe not even half convinced exists, try meditating on the idea of being part of the walls of the house, let yourself melt into the walls. Try maybe allocating a few minutes in the morning and at night to read the energy in the walls of the house. You might see differences day to day, or when major events happen, even before and after cleaning. Ultimately, the house is a construction made by human hands, while burrowing elements from nature, with the purpose to protect humans and to aid us in achieving comfort and contentment. The house also serves as a barrier between us and the outside world, it separates the private experience from the public one. It allows us to relax, let go and be our most authentic selves. The house is basically a temple for the people who wish to call it home. So the house will have as much energy as you give it, while it will dutifully do its job next to you. I think it's probably a lot easier for people to transform all of this into the image of a being they can connect and talk to. And I think, if you manage to get accustomed to the way the energy of the house ebbs and flows, you'll eventually start to unite it all into a distinct being. You'll feel the energy and think "oh this is the house spirit needing something". I live in a very new home, made on land that has never had houses built on it before, so the house spirit felt very much like a sprouting energy. A little sapling, if you will. I never felt the presence of a spirit of the house either and nothing weird ever happened, but when I decided to connect to the energy of the walls, I got a name right away. I'm sure if I tried to blindly search for a spirit though, I would get nowhere. Maybe it would be more helpful to think of it as the house having a personality, instead of a spirit. For example, I don't think every tarot deck I get has a spirit attached to it, but I can see a distinct personality in each of them. You could start with figuring out your house's personality. And if that personality starts spelling M U R D E R, well... maybe there's a few too many skeletons in that closet and it's time for a thorough inventory and possibly a deep cleaning 😉

I go by the folklore. The "house spirits" were always seen as the good people or the fae. Animism has never been a part of this tradition and really is a new thing of modern invention made up on tic tok. Honestly, animism is just racist shit white people came up with in the 70s to push the noble savage narrative, so as a mexican of mayan decent, i refuse to follow it. Most natives believe spirits protect a place or thing, not that the inanimate object itself has its own spirits, so its not even an idea that came from an actual cultural belief system. Living things have spirits, not inanimate objects like a house. Again, thats hogwash made up by tic tok. Maybe rocks will have energy from the minerals they contain, but they dont have a spirit. Your house doesnt have a spirit of its own. It may have energy from people who have lived there, but it does not have a spirit. Spirits are energies with consciousness. Your house does not have consciousness. What you do have are domestic faries (that have consciousness) in your house that help you because they chose to and they like domestic work. I've found that seeing them as fae and speaking to them like they are fae and giving them things the fae like has really helped. I also do this in the garden. The second you start realizing that you have gnomes and start acting like you have gnomes, is when your garden starts to flourish. So give them a nice little house (i used a wooden birdhouse i bought for $11 at Michaels) and some milk, honey, and bread, and you will start to see things change.
