Agriculture - Trends of LAI and NDVI for crop monitoring
This demo was shown at the Living Planet Symposium 2022 in Bonn. LAI and NDVI are key indicators of the vegetation development, and the analysis of their time series is crucial to monitor crop growth.
The objective of this demo is to show how to use SNAP to calculate LAI and NDVI with S2 data as input and analyse the time series.
SNAP can be downloaded from STEP website at step.esa.int.
If you have question regarding SNAP please visit the forum at forum.step.esa.int/

Active Fire detection with Sentinel-3
Просмотров 5392 года назад
This demo was shown at the Living Planet Symposium 2022 in Bonn. The aim is to present to the audience features and functionalities of SNAP software that can support forest monitoring/deforestation. The demo will show how to process S3 SLSTR data to detect active fires. The use case targets the forest fire from Portugal (Pedrogao Grande area) in June 2017. SNAP can be downloaded from STEP websi...
Land surface temperature estimation with SNAP
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.2 года назад
This demo was shown at the Living Planet Symposium 2022 in Bonn. For the purpose of estimating LST, the higher spatial resolution data from OLCI will be used for a good characterization of the land surface sub- pixel heterogeneity, in particular for a precise parameterization of surface emissivity. Emissivity is necessary for an accurate estimation and better precision of the LST. The used band...
Validating Ocean Water Quality with SNAP
Просмотров 5652 года назад
A demo shown at Living Planet Symposium 2022 in Bonn. It shows how SNAP can be used to validate earth observation data at the example of ocean colour level 2 data. The data is compared with in-situ data which was taken on a three week ship cruise. The cruise took place in summer 2020 in the North Sea. Dear content creator, your videos are very valuable. But for a better understanding, I wish you would activate automatic translation subtitles below.
rubbish
Discussed about the profile plot tool, finding it hard how to extract backscatter of water bodies coefficient
Thanks for your feedback. I like to invite you to the SNAP Forum: forum.step.esa.int/ It would be nice if you can give feedback there, share your findings and provide suggestions how it can be improved.
This is any optical Data?
For the video OLCI and SLSTR data have been used. Both provide optical data. SLSTR in addition also has thermal channels. See OLCI: sentinel.esa.int/web/sentinel/technical-guides/sentinel-3-olci/olci-instrument/specifications See SLSTR: sentinel.esa.int/web/sentinel/technical-guides/sentinel-3-slstr/instrument/specifications
do we find comparative changes on two different and how i relate with metrological station data . please guide me
@@Himalaya_geo_lab There is a difference between land surface temperature and air temperature taken by the meteorological station. There are not comparable, but probably related somehow.

Another thing if i need to import data from excel to snap , what is the required format of the data. Thanks a lot .
It would be good to ask this in the Forum too. There it is easier to answer properly. In general, you can import CSV files in snap. You find information about it in the user help of SNAP.
I did all process very well, except to view the spectra at my location as it doesn't appear, can you guide me pls.
You've asked this in the forum too. forum.step.esa.int/t/spectra-view/34756/2 It is already answered. :)
Excellent, thank you so much.
nice video I need one help how to mosaic snap using Landsat 8 and 5 data processing can u share the details or pls upload video
I think we are already discussing this here: forum.step.esa.int/t/landsat-8-mosaicking-issue-in-snap/29867/30
how can we extract the colour bar to use as an image or other formt?
You can right click on the image an select "Export Color Legend as Image". This brings up a dialog which lets you customize the image a bit. Do you know the forum forum.step.esa.int/ ? This is dedicated for user support for SNAP.
Is it possible create a polygon of pins? For example to quickly create a large set of cloud pins?
No this is not possible. But if you can write python code you could do it in python (senbox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SNAP/pages/24051781/Using+SNAP+in+your+Python+programs). If you want to extract the values of a polyong you can right-click on the image and select "Export Maks Pixels", then you can select the geometry you have created and the pixels can be exported. Do you know the forum for SNAP? It is at forum.step.esa.int Would be greate if you could use it for further questions. Thanks
To find the color palettes, where can I look?
Sorry for being late to answer. I guess you mean where to find them on the file system. They are in your user home at '.snap\auxdata\color_palettes'
Hello, I have a question, if I closed the colour window, how can I open it again?
Hi, you can open it again by going to the menu View / Tool Windows and then select Colour Manipulation. You can also always ask questions in the SNAP User Forum at forum.step.esa.int/
@@esasnap Thank you C:
Hello I can't open the tool to visualize spectra, neither in the toolbar nor from the "optical" menu, I think it may be a pluggin problem (?) I hope you can help me
Hi, it would be good if you report your problem in the dedicated user forum: forum.step.esa.int/ Thanks

I am beginner for SNAP program, i would like to want to learn, where can I buy a book / or online documentation where I can learn as a beginner. I am an ARCGIS user.
Sorry, there is no book available about SNAP. But it is a good idea. There is the STEP forum at forum.step.esa.int. Where you can ask your question. And there are wiki pages (senbox.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SNAP/overview) and tutorials (step.esa.int/main/doc/tutorials/) available. Also, several videos exist on RUclips.
Thanks very helpful!
i open a product but i get a black screen in navigation and viewer, pls help
I'm sorry to hear this. If you still experience problems, I would like to invite you to the forum forum.step.esa.int. There we can probably help you. Please describe what type of data you are opening.
halo , how can the clouds be removed from the image
There are several options. Best would be if you ask your question in the forum (forum.step.esa.int). Describe your use case and which sensor you use. Then I think someone can help you.
I like SNAP too much and I have more difficulties to use it. I need a help for data importation.
If you need help, please stop by in the forum at forum.step.esa.int/
SNAP is so awesome. I can't believe I haven't found it earlier
The tutorial is completely useless without information about files used. Impossible to follow.
agree with you. Impossible to follow.
Actually, the actual files are not that important. What is shown in the video, can be applied to any product, of course with minor modifications. But I agree, for a beginner, it might be difficult to follow. Thanks for the feedback. Locations where to download MERIS data are listed here: earth.esa.int/web/guest/data-access/online-archives. It's free but you need an esa eo-sso account.
Awesome. Some more videos please, it's easy to understand. Thank you very much

I am a Sentinel 2 as well as SNAP new user. We have not enough ideas to use the data with SNAP. So, Please make some basic tutorial like how to install SNAP, download image, Mosaicing and also NDVI, LAI Yield Prediction and so on

Hi there, Great tutorial series. How do I properly export products so it can be read in a GIS? I've tried generating products in SNAP and exporting them to Geotiff using File > Export > Geotiff but the results were not properly projected or in other cases, the projection information was lost. Thanks!
